  1. Songs done! I usually do a lot of song covers anyway, so I was kinda worried I'd get too close to the OGs if I gave them a fresh listen before doing the covers. I tried to recreate them all purely from memory as best I could, but I had a feeling I was missing huge chunks from each, so I gave them all exactly one listen and added stuff based on that. Hope they sound good! MAP02 - Hammer MAP06 - Plustle MAP23 - Socket Hideous SpoonyPlutMIDI.zip
  2. I'm using Sekaiju for all my MIDIs these days. Can vouch for how good it is. ^^
  3. I'd like to take the MIDI for MAP02, MAP06 and MAP23. If you can't give out more than one slot, just MAP06 is fine. Those 3 are probably the ones I know most by heart.
  4. Yamaha XG MIDI modules came out WAY after the Ys and Legend of Heroes PCE CD games (and the MU2000EX specifically didn't come out until the year 2000). A majority of those OSTs were made using synths and drum machines of the late 80s, like the Korg M1, Roland R-8, D-50 and Yamaha DX7. And that's just the ones that Hudson Soft did the ports for. Falcom's own Legend of Xanadu PCE CD games mostly just used Roland synths from what I can tell. I think there was SOME incorporation of sounds from Yamaha MU modules in Falcom's early Windows games, but I don't really know enough to verify for certain. Also, I realize the thread is getting a bit off-topic, so I'll stop here. Sometimes I can't help but be a huge nerd about old synths. :P
  5. I mean, I know they used it for some of their MIDI albums in the mid-90s, but outside of that it seems like they just stuck to GS or GM format. At least that means the songs from their early Windows titles are easily rippable >:)
  6. Almost anything from Falcom games works as good background music for any creative thing I find myself doing. I've been putting together a playlist of lots of their music that would make for good map BGM, and I have made MIDI arrangements for a few of these as well.

Plasma Rifle sound: let's discuss our favorites

I don't necessarily think any of the plasma sounds are bad, but none of them are perfect. OG is iconic, but it can be harsh when used a lot. D3 is clean-sounding, but a bit wimpy. PSX is very retro-sounding, but lacks a strong oomph like the other two do. I know some of Skillsaw's WADs have custom plasma sounds, too, and I like them just fine, too, but they also sound a little flat. I actually took two sounds from X-Men Children of the Atom and mashed them together "MADE" a plasma sound of my own that I think checks all the boxes on what I want out of a plasma sound. Strong attack, distinctive timbre, and still has a retro-sci-fi type of sound. I just need to actually make a map so I can show it off, lol.

    DOOM 32X Resurrection OST (+DOOM 2!)

I did actually start making those as well, though I think someone else did a version for an actual Genesis homebrew Wolf3D that sounds more like the original PC soundtrack? I might still come back to it at some point, ‘cause I’ve got all the songs from episode 1 covered already, and I like beefing up the texture for stuff like that, heheh.

    DOOM 32X Resurrection OST (+DOOM 2!)

At some point I’d love to make some video tutorials for Furnace Tracker to put on my channel, so hopefully anyone who wants to make this kinda stuff will have everything they need to go nuts with it, heheh.

    Story behind your nickname?

I used to be a huge fan of video game countdown makers, who typically had nicknames based on characters in video games (The Autarch of Flame, Fawful’s Minion, The Fiery Joker, etc) And I began on YouTube by making countdown videos like that, and I settled on “The Spoony Bard” since I wanted to be a musician, and I had recently played through Final Fantasy IV. Not a super badass name, I know, but I thought it was suitably light-hearted. Only about a year ago did I add “Some” onto the beginning, just because I wanted to make it more unique, and the whole time I was going by the original username I kept getting confused for Noah Antwiler or “The Spoony One” from Channel Awesome.

    DOOM 32X Resurrection OST (+DOOM 2!)

I actually already did TNT with Molkirill, but I figured that should get its own post since he was the driving force behind that project. I’m a little new here, so I’ll have to check to see if he’s already posted here. I do, yes. For DOOM 1, I used DefleMask but in the middle of DOOM II, I migrated to Furnace Tracker. I also have the VGMs for both. I can update the 7z to include those later tonight. :)

    DOOM 32X Resurrection OST (+DOOM 2!)

Hello, there! If y'all saw the Cacowards last year, you might have caught a glimpse of the Doom 32X Resurrection project by @Vic. I'm responsible for the music of that port, which I had made a couple years prior just for fun, but regardless, I'm very happy to see that people are enjoying in such a "bigger, badder, better version" of Doom for the 32X. So, I thought I'd make my debut on the forums with a few extra goodies! I've not only covered DOOM 1's OST, but DOOM 2 as well. AND I took the liberty of compiling the covers into PWAD files, so you can play the original games on PC and still enjoy FM synth goodness to accompany your demon-slaying escapades! I also included the MP3s for all the tracks, too! ;) I sincerely hope you all enjoy! ^^ DOOM 1: DOOM II: WADs and MP3s: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VN9raLReYcePZPqSmZ4_IcwXfBfJdOlm/view?usp=sharing
