Great news! I had maintained faith that they'd eventually fix the problems with the game, but a lack of information dissemination as well as mild condescension and aggression from the devs really killed my desire to keep track of the game. I'd visit the forum or Steam page frequently and find nothing about planned updates or progress reports. The standard "it'll be done when it's done" is fine for most products that are already in a working state, but Carmageddon was essentially released as a beta (some would argue alpha). I understood why this happened and was very forgiving of that decision, but when you release an unfinished product, community communication is very important. Your customers need to know what's going on. A blog post every other week is really not asking much. I'm glad it's finally in a playable state and I will probably buy it now, but boy did they not win themselves many supporters with their behavior.

Did anyone say Pootie Tang? Well, then I liked Pootie Tang.

Sometimes this community frustrates me. We shit on people who don't provide screenshots and then we shit on them when they provide screenshots we don't like, but often in eloquent or long-winded paragraphs that seem like constructive criticism, but still tend to boil down to "my opinions on aesthetics are the only correct ones." It's like we've forgotten what work in progress actually means. I'm sure it'll look a lot better in a few months.

BACULUS: 32 Map Scythe / Doom 2 Inspired Megawad (Now On Idgames)

It's definitely got a Doom 2 vibe to it, and while a lot of people here prefer the original episodes, 2 was always my favorite. Keep at it man. -
John Romero makes first new Doom map in 21 years
alexz721 replied to Linguica's topic in Doom General
I think with the advent of such advanced mapping that we've seen in the Doom community for the past ten years, people sometimes forget how cool Romero's style of mapping was. This was a boatload of fun and hard as nails. There were a lot of flourishes and paths that you don't see many mappers doing nowadays, but at the same time it definitely feels like a level that someone would make this decade. I'm impressed how well he mixed different eras of Doom mapping to make this. -

Reading this list really puts in perspective how much Doom I've played over the years. No regrets. -

The worst alcohol you have ever tried?
alexz721 replied to hardcore_gamer's topic in Everything Else
Man, most of you haven't even come close to the bottom of the barrel of shit alcohol. How about Schlitz? Or MD 20 20? Thunderbird? Dubra? Popov? Natural Light? Man, I wish the worst thing I had ever tasted was Heineken or Johnnie Walker Red. -
Thanks for commenting on the gameplay and not crapping on the mod like everyone else. Seriously guys, take a chill pill. Brutal Doom fans aren't ruining vanilla or the mapping community.

How Many Episodes and Megawads?
alexz721 replied to joshescue18's topic in WAD Releases & Development
This is an interesting exercise, even if impractical. -
I agree that Doom is one of the most influential games ever, but you all have to remember that Donkey Kong was the first game that made Nintendo huge in the states, and enabled them to later sell the first Nintendo successfully, which basically saved the videogame industry after the 1983 crash. Sure, you could argue some other company would have filled the gap, but let's give DK its due, guys. Both games deserve many accolades.

The Official 'Trying to Find a Specific WAD' Thread
alexz721 replied to gruntkiller4000's topic in WAD Discussion
Yep, that's it. Strange, it's a lot smaller than I remember it being. I'm probably just spoiled by all the massive maps that have come out in the last five years. -
The Official 'Trying to Find a Specific WAD' Thread

Hey guys, haven't posted here in a long time. I'm trying to find a Map 29 replacement WAD that as far as I remember was simply a bigger, harder, more beautiful and hellish version of The Living End. I can't remember the name of it, but it may have been by Paul Corfiatis, although it very well could have been another author. I remember it also got rave reviews. Thanks for your help.
