      Not that I am aware of. Nor has work been done on it in a long time as far as I know. Hacx 1.2 was completed.

  5. Funny how the Ultimate Doom and Doom 2 on the Xbox 360 had the red cross on its medkits changed to pills while Duke Nukem 3D on the same console kept the red cross on its medkits.

      Duke 3D on the 360 was out before that incident happened and was never updated, Doom 2 XBLA came out after the fact and Ultimate Doom was actually pulled off the store and brought back later (for reasons unrelated to medkits and unknown to me) after the medkit incident.


      That is what happened there.

  7. So a thing about Classic Doom is that you activate switches even if you're not looking at it. For example, in map 01 of Doom 2, there are two switches in a room. One opens up a secret, the other lowers the platforms. If you activate the later, you can still activate the door to get to the secret by standing in front of the door switch and pressing use. Even if it's not there anymore, you still activated it. You can open another secret door by going up an elevator in the same map. However, even if you don't look at it, you still open the door, as long as you're in front of the wall at the bottom. Why these happen is because of Doom's 2D nature. It's like the enemy problem where Cacodemons fly, but you can't get past them from the bottom, or when you couldn't get on top of enemies like Imps and such. However, source ports like ZDoom fixed those issues, so you can now run under flying enemies, and you can run on top of more grounded monsters too. Could those source ports also fix the switch problem?

  15. I feel that Doom 2's maps were rushed. I can't believe that no one bothered to fix the clipped barrel in Map 02. Getting the Super Shotgun too early may have been another flaw. One level had a light amplification visor with barely any dark rooms to be seen (unless I may have passed them using the visor). Secrets that weren't really even secrets, such as one level having a wall with a switch clearly shown to you on the front of it that you press and...boom, secret revealed.

      The data dump from 2015 contained at least two levels that didn't make it to the final game (or only some areas of which were used), in slots map07 and map22 or 24 I think.

      From what i've read somewhere, supposedly the whole map02 was moved to the center coordinates (0,0) some time after it was finished, unfortunately, things weren't moved properly and hence why there's a stuck sargent and barrel on that level

  20. One of the reasons I made the, "Will Doom Eternal Be Unfinished?" thread was because I got worried that the game might overshadow the classic Doom games, especially if it had full mod support.

      No, it won't. I might have got carried away, huh? The classic Doom games are just so awesome that I don't want them forgotten. Doom 4 came out a few years ago and the original games weren't forgotten. Will that change with Eternal though?

      The classic Doom games will never be forgotten! They are iconic games that have stood the test of time and that wont be changing anytime soon.

  21. So there are users who say room-over-rooms can't be possible with the Doom engine. Is that really true? I know Doom's maps aren't really 3D but instead are 2D with the illusion of third dimensional structures, but it doesn't sound hard to place a room on top of another.

      (In germany they called Wolfenstein that as a codename because there Wolf3d is illegal)
      (It means dogrock wich is simmiliar to wolfenstein wich is wolfstone)

      Aaaah. Well what I played was a total conversion of Wolf3D made by AFADoomer. It's literally Wolfenstein 3D, only in the Doom engine.
