    60FPS requirements

I do, because it affects all GL-based video games (heard that for non-games it isn't bad), so what do we have here then, all games optimized only for NVIDIA? Highly doubt that. Crappy driver support is the only one that makes sense to me in this scenario.
  2. Nah, more like frustrating to me *shrugs*.

    60FPS requirements

The problem here is that none of the developers are actually running AMD hardware as well, so they simply cannot test it for regressions like they could on NVIDIA, so if NVIDIA takes advantage of something that AMD does not, well, there you have it. The simple truth is that AMD simply has not invested into OpenGL for a very long time. I had friends with AMD hardware and the said hardware of the time was quite good for GL applications, but later on something changed, and they chose to focus on DirectX and later Vulkan instead of OpenGL, so they've settled for a highly standard compliant implementation and never gave it further love. This can be observed on their support page where most GL performance reports get seemingly ignored or just get a "token support" type of answers. Unless the users manage to figure out the root cause by themselves, they don't seem to do much research.

    Using secrets effectively

Essentially this for me too. I am fine with secrets but not too find when they are too meaningful and can lead to a completely different experience when going for them or otherwise. I've seen maps that were quite brutal if the player decided not to search for secrets, and it isn't much fun when it happens. From a mapper's perspective I think it also make balancing it out more difficult when they end up having to take both into account. Each player has different approaches to gameplay - I personally don't secret hunt, so if I find them, good, if not, whatever, not losing sleep over it.

    Do you believe in VPN??

Same here, but depending on the connection it can be quite accurate, as it is in my experience, and I'm increasingly less fine with it with each passing day. On phone I have all location-related services turned off.
  6. Actually this, there's still plenty of games in the indie scene in particular that go by that formula. Bigger titles yeah, tend to have a steeper learning curve, but unless you're going for some overly complicated RPG, they shouldn't give one mental fatigue. And with all the tutorials and hand-holding sometimes, the apparent complexity kinda just goes out the window anyway. Alright then, let's leave it there bud, we're just beating up a dead horse at this stage. Helps no-one. Also this. It's why I prefer digital distribution to physical purchases so much more nowadays. Convenience. So much better to have all things in one or two places and not worry about such things. But then you have another issue - too many accounts, depending on how many digital distribution services you choose to use, leading to bloatware eventually.

    Does anyone else hate hot-starts?

I lean towards indifference, but most of the time I see them I end up actually liking hot starts. They get your blood pumping :D .

    Question about GZDoom's internationalization

Doubt it, iirc the Japanese translation is being handled by a few independent volunteers and not based on anything.

  10. Ah Q3 has one too? Okay, didn't know about that. Make that 8 then.

    Do you believe in VPN??

This sounded way more funny than it should have, but I agree, I'd rather keep my own fetishes private too, thanks . For me, I've only ever considered using a VPN for one reason: hiding your real location. I don't know why, but over the years and with all those privacy issues and concerns I've become increasingly uncomfortable about this. I don't need VPN to circumvent regional locks - a movie/TV show not available on Netflix/Amazon/whatever? Okay, no problem, I can find a warez site at any time and solve the problem. Work around censorship? Don't live in such a country. Targeted advertisement? Couldn't care less, got adblockers everywhere - and frankly who doesn't nowadays anyway?
  12. I think 7 or so. Classic Doom/Doom 64 have one (same across all games), Quake 2, Doom 3, Rage, Doom 2016, Rage 2, and Eternal all have one.

  14. Could be a mod issue, I think? CP support was a little rough around the edges, as so it was in NBlood as well. Unfortunately FS has changed the format of the movies to one that none of the existing ports support at this time. Only the original movies in their original format as shipped with DOS Blood/OUWB are supported.
  15. Oh wow, now this is priceless . That's one way to fix it I guess, by cracking your own product.

Best and worst Doom console port

Best: PSX Doom (then); Unity (now). Worst: 3DO Doom.
  17. This was a "DUH, dumbass... " moment for me. I forgot I myself am already doing this with older games that incorporated DRM which no longer works at all on new Windoze versions lmao.

    Favorite sound chips? (poll)

The (S)NES sound chips, since they are the only chips (and some SoundBlasters) I've been exposed to and am more familiar with.
  19. Debatable tbh. In the past games received patches as well, didn't they? But they were never this massive, to the point they correct HUGE issues that could only be blamed on a rushed development and lack of proper testing. I don't mind seeing bugs in games at launch myself, what does indeed bother me is the simple fact that they were rushed and unpolished. Though to be fair, in the current landscape, we should indeed be thankful for the patches, others would just get them out the window and leave them die. Not if you want to support the developers however, in which case pirating their games doesn't help :p .
  20. The IoS was different, as it became quite clear that Eternal was heading in the direction it did and more-or-less re-envision Doom 2. The Mother Demon was most likely just a reference to the old game, as we got to see her in the new remaster anyway, would really not hold my breath to see her for a third time, and id likely doesn't want to do that either. There was also a Soul Cube somewhere, originally seen and used in Doom 3, but nothing came of it.

  22. Never make the mistake of mistaking me with one of those. And it isn't, the fact that it got such a mod is proof as clear as the sky. It's just a money cow, nothing more nothing less, if they did, it would've never gotten one.

    60FPS requirements

This. But make sure your drivers are also up to date, as they did fix some performance issues in GL apps over the last year. Either way, Vulkan is the way to go on AMD, their GL support simply isn't as good as NVIDIA's.
  24. Alright then, with that sentence I think am done talking about this with you. It is obvious you only care about numbers and how long something survives, with little regard if not complete disregard for its quality and the original vision powering it, which is the point I was trying to make there. "No harm done as long as it keeps the numbers rolling in", after all, in your own words, which will never, ever be representative of the quality of a product - a lot of trash music and fast food is popular for instance, that doesn't mean it's actually any good. And it isn't really a discussion this way.
  25. Because at the time it was added the numbers were getting lower, as Battle Royale stepped in and rapidly gained popularity and took over the scene, then they alienated its player base by feeding them with it as well, attracting a new audience in the process, yes, but one that never even cared for the game until that point. The vision basically took a turn, and that only to save it from imminent death, prolonging the inevitable. Just wait for the next big trend to appear and see what happens then. Will it get yet another copied mod? That would be just the best example of how desperate the developers really are for money and keeping their money cow alive because they know no better. After all it's easier to copy rather than come up with your ideas.
