Shao Kahn is my favorite from the the MK Arcade trilogy. I'm yet to hear anything near as epic:

Your favorite track throughout classic doom?

My favorite tracks are: Doom II: Shawn's Got the Shotgun, The Healer Stalks, Running from Evil, Into Sandy's City, and Adrian's Asleep. Ultimate Doom: The Imp's Song, Dark Halls, Kitchen Ace (And Taking Names), Suspense, Hiding the Secrets, The Demons from Adrian's Pen, Waltz of the Demons, Donna to the Rescue. TNT Evilution: Death's Bells, Infinite, Into the Beast's Belly, AimShootKill. PSX Doom: Main Theme, Level Complete Stats (also in D64 and PSX Final Doom), Retribution Dawns, The Broken Ones, Hell's Churn, Mind Massacre, Mutation, Beyond Fear, Creeping Brutality, Lamentation. PSX Final Doom: Bells of Agony, Larva Circuits, Malignant, Darker than Blackness. Doom 64: The Madness, Spaces Between, Dark Echo, Voices in the Blood, Blood Red Shadows, Collision Course, The Rotted Foul. But out of all of them, I prefer the dark ambient of Aubrey Hodges.

    What are you listening to?

After all Eonian turned out to be Dimmu's best album since DCA. Could've easily been better, but also much worse. Council and Summit are the only songs I could not stand hearing though, so damn amateurish for a band that's been around for a couple of decades by now.

    DOOM II teased for E3

Agreed. We might see a Doom expansion of some sort, but that's the best one could hope for. Given what's going on recently, I doubt we're going to see Doom 5 before 2019 or 2020, and I'm ok with this.

I still do. Not a fan of DBZ though, but that was one of Number 4's most badass moments.

    Sunlust

And there goes Sunlust, and what a ride it was. So first things first, Sunlust is a 32-level megawad consisting of challenging levels. It does not feature new enemies, but comes with a new background screen, an atmospheric, sometimes epic soundtrack, and new textures for most if not all levels making them look absolutely beautiful which adds to the overall experience. it also comes with new (non serious) intermission screens but they're just there without adding anything. The gameplay is similar to that of other megawads such as AV or HR in general, with a number of maps having only little over a hundred or a few hundred enemies and the maps rely on smart placement to offer a challenge, which applies even to some of the slaughter inspired levels, although they mostly rely on the sheer numbers of enemies in various kinds of encounters. Many levels also feature suicide exits but unlike megawads such as Ancient Aliens, Valiant, Scythe and so on which have them every 8 maps or so which usually signalize an upcoming increase in difficulty and sometimes split the megawad in episodes a la Doom 1, they're placed randomly here as a surprise element. You might run into a suicide exit and the upcoming level might feature hundreds of enemies, while others might feature little over a hundred, you never know. And yet the difficulty doesn't change, it's almost like the authors put them there just so that you have to pistol start a map every now and then but not to scare you with a spike in difficulty. It's an interesting experience nonetheless. Many of the later levels have the enemies in plain sight but in a sleeping state, with their backs facing you. This was probably done to offer the players who haven't played the megawad before (those who do a blind playthrough like I did) time to observe the surroundings and come up with a plan of sorts before jumping into the action or getting assaulted by enemies, which is something welcome for me. I've always had the impression that megawads such as Valiant and AA don't really want you to jump into the action without any knowledge of the levels, and in consequence involve quite a bit of trial and error before figuring out an optimal route. This might be a plus for some players, but not for those who just want to enjoy a new megawad from the very first playthrough, and in the case of Sunlust, I'd say it doesn't fall under the trial and error category, so if it's your first time playing it and are at least a decent player you're fine, no serious reason to worry about dying due to not knowing what lies ahead, and traps are easily recognizable most of the time as well. On the subject of difficulty, what I have accidentally discovered while watching a video of MAP30 is that the levels themselves seem to be different on other settings than UV. Considering that UV is targeted at the most skilled players from the description I had chosen to play Sunlust on HMP this time around (I might be insane but not to that degree), and one thing I've noticed is that MAP30 was different on UV. The yellow key is somewhere else, there's more teleporters in a place, and some secret areas seem to work differently, particularly the Cyberdemon room. It would seem that the deadly platform in the middle didn't instantly kill them once activated for some reason. Or maybe I ran into a bug? I don't know, but what's certain is that it did not work for me. Something else that I have noticed is that a number of maps also feature optional areas. I realized this after I finished these maps with only 50-60% kills, so if your target is maxing out everything keep in mind that you'll have to take a detour. The levels are also fair, with the exception of an Arch-Vile room in MAP29. "Go Fuck Yourself" they said. Indeed, good luck avoiding waves of Imps and a few Hell Knights while hiding behind a moving wall with a bunch of Arch-Viles behind it in a small, circular room. Ingenious, I must admit this. As about my favorite maps, well, that's a difficult question considering that the vast majority of levels are gorgeous and provide solid gameplay, but the ones I liked the most are MAP09, MAP10, MAP16, MAP18, MAP19, MAP27, and MAP28. The levels in general explore a variety of themes and locations: Some are "natural", while others are mysterious with a magic atmosphere, cavernous, hellish, surreal, futuristic, and so on. The first few levels also remind me of Requiem. As for the ones I disliked, that's going to be MAP30. The starting area looked pretty interesting, but everything else was just "alright", with a few ugly rooms before the location of the yellow key. This level doesn't feature a typical Icon of Sin boss, it's a slaughter level with almost 2000 enemies. Most certainly not bad, but not fantastic either, yet a fitting conclusion to the journey. And with this I think I've covered pretty much everything. Another solid megawad, well worth the time.

Anyone know some pretty good megawads?

I've played AA first so I might have gained some experience from my time with it, I dunno, but even so AA still feels more difficult to me due to the difference in design. No doubt, Valiant features more new enemies who are deadlier than the ones in AA, but the encounters themselves are nowhere near as brutal as they are in AA imo. It also doesn't help that Valiant introduces new weapons either. And sure, there's some instances the game wants you dead, but I got tired of getting ambushed in AA far more often than I ever did in Valiant, if at all. As about the slaughter inspired levels, I think our definitions are different, I definitely remember seeing more than 2 levels. Or maybe I'm wrong? I could be, I'm not 100% sure honestly. I agree they're not necessarily more difficult than non-slaughter maps though, in fact I remember I've even said in my review that I found these to actually be the easiest of all. But either way, AA is definitely the more challenging megawad to me. E: Forgot something. The difficulty curve. AA was more difficult for me from the very beginning, like starting hard and only getting harder, whereas Valiant actually started noticeably easier and didn't want me dead as fast as possible with all its traps.

Not this one though, I've seen a few vids of some levels and, well, looks too difficult for me. Maybe in the future, but at this time that's a "no" . I'll check the other megawads you listed though, haven't heard of most of them.

It's also a very fitting name thanks to that trap. Btw, anyone having any suggestions what should I play next? Just something similar to what I've played until now (AV, HR, AA, Sunlust, etc.).

And the most brutal too. And I thought the encounters in MAP17 were brutal with all the cramped spaces, Barons and whatnot :v .

Meanwhile in Sunlust: There's so many beautiful levels in this megawad it's amazing, I don't recall a single ugly level (well, the first levels didn't stand out but that's about it). The journey is also coming to an end very soon since one of the screenshots is from the final level. Go Fuck Yourself was actually alright for the most part, the only problem was the Arch-Vile room where you gain access to the yellow key. Waves of Imps and a few Hell Knights that I need to avoid while also taking cover behind a moving wall from the Arch-Viles. Yeah, go fuck yourself indeed. Eh, at least I triumphed, but barely, got out from that gangbang with 7% health :v .
  15. The HD pack Shotgun from the original HL looks great, but the pump sound is incredibly irritating.
  16. I like DN3D and it's easily among my top 10 games, although I don't quite enjoy it as much as Doom.

Anyone know some pretty good megawads?

For starters, AA has plenty of slaughter inspired levels later on, whereas Valiant has none, save for some influences in very few final maps. This already makes AA more difficult. Another difference is that the levels themselves are simply more difficult, how? Lots of traps, many of 'em being lethal, or merciless if you will, and the enemy count is much higher than it ever is in Valiant overall. It might not introduce new weapons unlike Valiant and features fewer brand new enemies, but that doesn't matter, it's designed to be very challenging. On many occasions the enemies are also placed in such a way you can't reach them until you make progress in the said map either iirc, but of course, they can. No way Garrett, AA is much less accessible than Valiant, I'm actually genuinely curious how you found it less difficult.

Anyone know some pretty good megawads?

Would've recommended that too but the OP has played only Valiant and AV so far. Valiant might give him an idea about what to expect, but AA is considerably more difficult than it. AV, Scythe, HR, even all of these pale in comparison.

Why game makers like EA are nowadays evil?

Before anything else, I haven't followed closely what they're doing, but from what I've noticed thus far it's probably because they care only about money and not much else and many of the games end up being rushed, or, worse, have content removed from them at some point and then sold as DLC (don't know about many other games, but I know for sure this happened with MW2012, at least some of the content that was later sold as DLC was actually cut while the game was in development).

Have you used Doom to reduce your anger?

Sort of. I always have something going on in my mind, regardless of how insignificant it might be, and something that annoys or outright pisses me off eventually pops up (even if it doesn't I somehow manage to run into something that does, so... ) in a way or another, and when that happens I need to get rid of it somehow, and Doom usually does it if I don't listen to music (I always let it carry me away from this pathetic plane, so it does have a cathartic effect on me). Although sometimes Doom itself pisses me off when I run into a difficult level from a megawad I'm playing, which makes killing all the more satisfying. It's always good to see the tormented corpses lying broken around me.

What difficulty do you play Classic Doom on?

Overall Plutonia without a doubt. UD did get intense in E4 but only for the first 2 levels or so.
