This sounds great! Very professional. What did you use for the guitar sounds and the drum sounds?

Doomworld Musicians, serenade us with your beautiful music!

My advice is, practice will continue to make you better. Don't let 10 or 100 song ideas you don't like put you off. Just keep churning it out and you will gradually get better and better.

This album has made USD$48 on bandcamp, 40 of which was from one particularly kind purchaser. This converts to about NZD$70 which has been donated to Women's Refuge. Posting here for transparency.

Here is the audio release of this compilation: Raven: Songs in the Key of Heretic Please let me know if I've messed up any audio or text. Thanks to @plums and @Darman Macray for helping with the album title. I combined your ideas and added the word 'Heretic' to make it nice and clear what this release is about. I've just put the album on my own bandcamp for now, but crediting each artist. If I end up doing another of these I'll make a seperate bandcamp for these compilations. I'll give this compilation few more listen-throughs before uploading to spotify, etc. On the off-chance this earns any money I will donate it to charity.

Is there anyone else in this compilation who's musician name is different from their doomworld username, apart from me and Jimmy?
-
Is anyone able to suggest an album title and contribute an album cover for this?

RAVEN MIDI Pack II - Breathing Life Into "Deathkings"
dial-up replied to Jimmy's topic in WADs & Mods
Hello! Count me in for H1M3 and H2M1. -
Yip I could easily pop it on Spotify too
-
Is anyone interested in an mp3 version of this pack being available on bandcamp or the like? If so, I'd be happy to convert the midi files to audio (or you could send me your preferred audio version) and oversee this. I've listened to about five tracks so far and there is some really amazing stuff here. I think it would be nice to be able to share it more widely, and I for one would like to have an mp3 copy of these tracks. But, no problem if there's no appetite for this.

@Jimmy Here are my two reworked tracks, with a more medieval sounding instrumentation. I've reduced the distortion guitars parts down to ornamental amounts, and I've dropped the overdrive guitar. I've kept the fingered bass on E5M9 as I've heard it in a couple of Schilder's Heretic tracks, hopefully it sounds appropriate. Fantasy music isn't more forte so thanks for the assistance. Let me know if there's any further feedback. 2 MIDIs v2.zip

All good. Agree that Sage Fields is a bit too metal. Will do some reworking

For your consideration 2 MIDIs.zip

Sorry for the radio silence! Apparently I don't get email notifications for Doomworld. Will get onto this ASAP, will need a few more days :)

I had no idea! Thanks so much for this information. This is life-changing. I never even thought about it. I'd better go and compose an album of OPL tracks now
-
Because I'm not particularly experienced with Heretic - does anyone know what the most likely emulators to be used are? And therefore what will be the most likely default soundfont that these midi's will be heard with? Presumably an OPL synth emulator? And what does everyone use to compose? I use Logic, which means I have to compose hearing the default MIDI synth that is bundled with MacOS/Windows, and then listen to it back in GZDoom to check it sounds ok with OPL synth emulation.

Hello, Count me in for these two: E5M9: Skein of D'sparil E6M1: Raven's Lair Is there any need for a menu or intermission or do these already have original tracks? Thanks!

MIDI Nightmares - my new album with 18 free to use MIDI files
dial-up replied to dial-up's topic in WADs & Mods
Thanks for the comments. Yeah ___ __ _ was written by my mate Liam and yes there's another (the original) version of it out there somewhere. I'll let him know! -
I have finally finished my second Doom-inspired MIDI album. It's available here: https://dialupformurder.bandcamp.com/album/midi-nightmares It's free to download, or you can pay what you like should you want to. If you download the album, the MIDI files are included with the download.

Maybe this is an unpopular opinion but I love Dis. A very simple level, but it's classic and effective, it's an awesome introduction to the Spider Mastermind, and the song is great.
-
The chaingun for me. The sound effects just aren't as meaty as all the other guns. And the pistol doesn't count as an option. Obviously no one likes that.

Yeah with a few tracks I went hard with just writing the kind of music that I like, eschewing typical expectations of Doom music. Thanks for the positive review!
