  1. To answer the question you posed in your post, I liked it, the original that is. I liked all the maps that were console-specific. Though in '95, my mind was younger and far more imaginative than it is in middle-age. So I was able to probably create a better version of The Marshes in my head while I was playing it than I can now. Now, its just nostalgia and rose-tinted glasses. But I digress. I enjoyed your rendition. The atmosphere was good, the layout was there and improved upon in ways. If I had complaints, its not really anything different in a sense from the original. The trees block your movement more so in this version than the PSX version, which when a Cyber is bearing down on you, trying to escape those rockets, the trees can be a bit of a nuisance. A few design decisions about places of structures that slow down the flow through the environment. For example, I wanted to walk behind the elevated ... "Imp fort" (or whatever you'd call it) but you had that structure in the way. Maybe you can lower it, but I didn't. But even so, it was a fun little map, and the introduction to enemies raising from the dead at various times when things were picked up, or lines crossed was a nice touch to keep the map feeling ever populated. I looked pretty much like I would have imagined it back 1995 with the PSX controller in my hand. So I'm happy. Thank you. Considering I don't frequent here much, but to only to pick up a new map or two to scratch that itch, I'm glad you provided links to your other remakes, because I loved the The Mansion, and didn't know they existed. So I'm going to go download those three and enjoy me some more Doom. As for the comment about Club Doom being next, sure whatever you want. I get it, I know what it is, but please have mercy on our ears and don't include that awful music. lol At least include some decent club music.

    Doom Beneath [E4][cl 3] updated! May 12

E4M1, the first door can't be opened from center room once its closed again. So if you backpedal back into the starting room after it closes, then you're stuck. The only way to open it again is the Red Key switch, but then you're locked out of that room. I would replace that LineDef 171 action from 118 (D1) to 115 (SR)

    [Map] Marble Madness

Your map killed an hour for me, so I'm happy. I think I found something though. The Yellow key switch (LineDef 6620) in the small circular room in the south part of the map opens the wall back up (sector 1260) that is south of the room with the 7 platforms, after you finally get the yellow key. But its an S1 trigger, and the 7 bloodfalls in the room below the 7 platform room all have W1 trigger that close the door. So if a player fails to walk over all the linedefs before coming back to that room to leave, they could accidently walk back over one they missed and trigger the door to reclose. At least that's what happened to me, and I had to noclip back out. I did that in trying to pick up the megasphere in that room.

Marax Dungeon - my third WAD

I wonder if that's because the map is extremely large, or the first half is extremely detailed. I wonder if you were able to strike a balance between the two if would improve this issue.

Marax Dungeon - my third WAD

I didn't get much Doom 64 vibe though. Doom 64 is probably one of my favs, but the architecture is way different from the other Doom games, with large courtyards, chapels, temples, and castles (That's probably why I enjoy it so much) I'll admit, I'm not a huge fan of large maps, because they drain me, and I don't feel like I'm accomplishing anything within the map. But I played through to the end. I didn't find everything. After seeing the direction the map was taken (hitting switches to open up the gates in the long hall) it started feel more cohesive, but a big turn off to me was the lack of detail in the last half. It seemed like you lost inspiration and was in an hurry to finish the map. You had these super detailed areas in the first half, then long wide open halls that lacked design in the second half. So I started getting bored. The rooms looked similar and bland. I will agree with the above statement that there were a LOT of switches. The first half of the map seemed pretty tight though and how the map kept opening up bits and pieces as you progressed, picking up keys, and hitting the gate switches. I think that half could be a satisfying map in it's own right.

My First Attempt at making a map

Also, might I add, that it can only be completed on difficulty 3+. The Blue keycard is not available on lower difficulties.

    I found my dad's 1994 WAD

Same with me. I've made lots of maps dating backing to late 90s, and still haven't posted a single one. I've lost some too due to file corruption or deletion and now are just vague memories in my head. I just recently discovered I had an account for this page almost 20 years later. lol

    Doom: Annihilation update

I watched it the other day, twice. And my second viewing confirms my initial opinion. I thought it was a little boring because of the first third of the movie featuring no action at all. I think most of the crew generally enjoyed working on the movie, and did their best, but I just was not sold on it. It was an okay straight-to-video B movie, and by no means terrible. I didn't really like the main character either. I don't care if Doomguy/gal even had to exist in this movie. I thought her acting seemed more lifeless than the other 2 female leads. If we needed a female lead, I'd much prefer Nina Bergman instead of Amy Manson. I was also disappointed with the appearance of the "zombies", and how they (in my opinion) resembled blue orcs if you were to combine LotR and Bright. I didn't care much for the imps in either Doom movie because they look more alien than beast. To me, I thought the imps looked closer to something like Rawhead Rex from the 80s than the "alien" appearance they have in this movie. Though the last scene of creatures did look very familiar to the game of 2016. Aside from all the game references (whether you liked them or not) I just really don't care for the nods to Doom 3. I'd prefer the "clean up" crew from the original 1993 game, where all the damage was already done, and Deimos had already got sucked through the portal into Hell. There was some similarity with Joan and Doomguy disobeying orders and were sent to Mars as a punitive response. But in the original game story line, you were sent to Mars to act as a guard. The trouble with teleportation occurred between Phobos and Deimos. Only then was a crew (with Doom guy being a part of) sent to Phobos. When you start adding in stuff with Dr. Betruger and all the science mumbo jumbo you just get in the way in my opinion. Leave that to a mystery, let the viewers guess what they were trying to do themselves. There are several movies that were pretty good with pretty much 1 actor. Look at flicks like 127 Hours, Moon, Castaway, Buried. I'm not saying that's possible or wise on a low budget, but I've seen some reviews talk about how you couldn't have a movie about 1 guy fighting demons, but 1 actor movies do exist. I'm also curious if they could have added more monsters other than zombies and imps. We have some pretty awesome practical affects from some low budget movies that uses shaky cams, quick cuts or low lighting to sell a living monster, I wonder if that could have been done here. Even the imps which were obviously practical, I believe would have worked better if everything wasn't so bright and lit. I don't want to see every wrinkle and crease of a suit if it can be hid by the dark. Also VFX is far easier and more realistic if you don't have to render multiple light sources. I didn't even light the version of Hell that was used, if that is what it was suppose to be. I guess overall it was decent, but I feel like so much of what made Doom...Doom (to me), wasn't in this movie at all.

    Best Boss Battle

Yeah, the marine kills the head hauncho of hell and gets a free ticket back to earth. That just sucks. Oh, and shouldn't he be a walking zombie in the second game, since technically you've already died in the first game? I agree, it's all screwed up, but all games or movies will have screw ups now and then.

You die, you got to hell. The second episode is still in hell. The Demios base floats above it. When you die, thats where you get sent to.

It's not just you. I did lose a post. :P This was originally in the general forum, so I posted another topic in here for people to reply to instead. That topic got deleted and the one in the general forum got moved here. No harm done in that. I'm glad the mods done that. :) Actually the reason I wanted to do this post was because I wanted to remake a Doom level in another game like Unreal Tournament or something like that. And I wanted to find out what map most people liked, but it looks like most like the majority of the maps. So, I guess it wouldn't matter then. ;)
