Today I went out to eat, then went to a father's day dinner at a friends house. Also worked on my map throughout the day.

Paying $950 for a bike when you already have a $650 bike that ended up sucking is just being a sucker consumer, unless you're competing in some professional competition or something for it to pay off.

My cheaper bike is for riding to work and school. It doesn't suck for what it is intended for; it's faster than my mountain bike because the tires and frame shape are designed for the road, not dirt. Plus I'm not taking any chances riding my mountain bike anywhere where I have to leave it locked up. I have two heavy-duty U-locks, but there would be nothing to prevent anyone from jacking parts off of it. The suspension seatpost would be particularly easy to steal, as it has a quick-release lever.

Well I have a hundred feet of large real chain with a padlock.
