    Worst Doom Level

    Hoo, boy, are we in for one here. UD: E1M6, not sure why. E2M9, if only because I find it unexciting. E3M8, because obviously. E4M1, because it's just absolutely brutal. D2: MAP06, because it seems to be so slow. MAP09, same as E1M6. MAP30. MAP31 and MAP32. TNT: I'll just put this as the IWAD I like the least. Plutonia: Hard to say, because I really like Plutonia, but I'd have to say it's lowest points for me are MAP12, MAP30, and MAP31. If we're allowed to add the non-Doom IWADS (the original Doom clones)... Hexen: I actually really liked Hexen, the only level I didn't like really was the last because it was the end. Heretic: I could never bring myself to play this one extensively, so I can't decide. Strife: Played, got to the factory, quit.

    Specific Things in Doom that annoy you

    When a vile decides to No Sell a direct BFG shot and kills me. More Complex Doom complaint, but could theoretically apply to vanilla Doom: homing projectiles you can't outrun that hit like a train. This. Applies to D2, also, but less so. Another vile one (pun intended), a (near) empty courtyard populated by 1/2 arch viles (Looking at you, Epic 2 MAP07).

    Your favourite TYPE of level?

    I like urban/egyptian settings (ie Epic/Epic 2). Always play on UV, though obvious exceptions stand for custom difficulties. Chaingunners are iffy. I hate them generally, but I can appreciate them when they're well placed, like anything else. Love Marathon Levels, despite being kicked back 20 minutes is immensely discouraging. Gameplay is where it's at for me, but I do appreciate a simple aesthetic.

  5. MAP02: 99 Ways to Die: Electric Boogaloo GZDoom 2.4.0, UV, continuous, manual saves As before, in spite of the name, this map is not difficult on a continuous run. I did not go back and run a pistol start, but the lack of weaponry was distressing, regardless. As far as architecture goes, it is consistent with its predecessor, but it did add a couple new things, such as the yellow skull hall (where I saved). The plasma rifle room was my favorite area, but it could've been better, if the revenants couldn't run into the crusher (lulz), but all told, it seemed somewhat like more of the same. As stated before, the warping in of the vile after leaving the second courtyard is bizarre, and I only noticed it when it began reviving imps. I suppose, given the mod name 99 Ways to Die, I expected to be brutalized, so I'm not sure if I'm disappointed or not. Still, its a rather pleasurable romp through the (not-so) labyrinth.
  6. Thank you, @rehelekretep ; I was, for lack of a better term, a lurker last month, but I did play Mayhem17 with you guys and did enjoy myself, even if I did, admittedly, have to cheat at the end. I decided to formally be part of it today.
  7. First time joining DWMC (at least officially), but let's jump to it. MAP01 GZDoom 2.4.0, continuous run, manual saves, UV Short, sweet map, good way to ease into the adventure, but as stated several times before, it's far easier than its name suggests. Architecture was nice, if monotonous, and the optional locked area is one of my personal favorite little mechanics. I found myself sticking to the single shotgun and chaingun over the SSG mostly, given the low threat level present. All together, the level was nice, but it left quite a bit to be desired.
