    Just test driving this avatar. Having second thoughts about it already, so I might change it within the week if I still don't like it too much.

    I got some really good avatar material elsewhere that might be entertaining I'll look around at before going back to the old one.

    So yesterday the laptop computer I ordered from Lenovo shipped.

    Feels pretty good. Now I can retire my ancient one, hopefully indefinitely.

      Besides, judging by Aquila mentioning that the previous computer was "ancient", he'll probably own this one for a long-ass time. Definitely worth upgrading IMO.

      Basically what bzzrak said. The last machine I had I got in '11 and I only replaced it with the Hewlett-Packard in early '16, so if this one holds up half as well, I could very well be using it in 2022 and be way behind the times again.

      Sure, but I don't see what you could do with 8 GB of RAM (or more) without the CPU and/or integrated graphics being a bottleneck.

    Got an eye on the laptop I intend to get to replace my crashed one.

    Lenovo Ideapad 330.

    AMD 1.8 GHz processor, integrated AMD graphics, 17.3 in (43.9 cm) screen (1600x900), 4 GB RAM, 1 TB hard drive.

    Only $400 (before mark-down) direct from manufacturer. Better than my old HP (and infinitely better than my ancient Toshiba) in every way, looks like, so seems like a good deal.

    Thoughts? Opinions?
