Idk, Ever since Gzdoom and the other source ports, doom has been great.

I'm not sure on midi samples.. But if you do find some and are looking for songs to make a midi out of, Symphony X is a good one to make a midi out of.

Use doom builder 2, for maps.

The doom 2 megawad "Scythe" Was released back in April 2003. As it is May 2018, I'm a month off from its 15 year anniversary... Oh well! Scythe has a unique soundtrack, from various games. I would recommend reading the description first because I spent 10 hours editing this and There was a problem with 1 part of the soundtrack got Glitched out. (Basically a file read as another file and there was no way of fixing it.) At the time of this post, This is still proccesing, Video quality is low.
