    Perfected vs Overthinked

So, I really want to play Doom 3, the only Doom I have not played, and I heard that without mods, it is not that great... I learned that Perfected Doom 3 and Overthinked Doom 3 are the main 2 mods that change the game, but do not add or really overhaul the setting of the game. So, which mod i better or worse than the other?
  2. It only hit me now, but while looking through the pre-order bonuses, I noticed that the "Master" variation of the level is listed as one of them. Does it mean that if you did not pre-order the game, you will never have the chance to experience it, like ever? If so, I am kinda bummed out, given that playing through the campaign in it's entirety in the "Master mode" would be undoubtably my favourite way of replaying the game, and I cannot pre-order, for my own reasons.
  3. So, a very kind person has sent me some leaked photos from a german steam that showcase the DOOM Eternal level list alongside some other info: So, what do you think?

    Doom Eternal early copy spoilers

Interesting, so the Archvile and the Tyrant, despite being presented in the same tier as the Marauder and Doom Hunter and seemingly having intro cutscenes (Archie has one during Phobos, Tyrant has one during Mars Core), are not initially boss-fights? Strange...
  5. Well, during his recent interview with Midnight he did state that the only non-boss enemies we have not seen yet in action are the Maykr Drones, so I would not get my hopes up.
  6. Nah, the Gladiator cannot be a Super Heavy, if we go by the Codex slots there is no place left for him, as the 5 Super Heavies are: - Archvile - Baron of Hell - Doom Hunter - Marauder - Tyrant
  7. Hell, I would pay a $ or two to get it, the remixed and beefed-up enemy encounters would justify the price for me. Thanks, this pretty much confirms that you will be able to get down the line even without a pre-order. I was just a li'l bit afraid that it would be exclusive forever.

Codex Doom Eternal. New information N2

    1) Hell knight. Vulnerability: chaingun Chaingun will put down this demon once and for all. Hell knights earned their rank because of their 1000 year servitude to ancient... 2) Cacodemon. Vulnerability: cannot exactly read it Throw a frag grenade or a sticky bomb into its open maw. The explosion will stun it. Vulnerability: ballista Ballista deals additional damage to flying demons. Cacodemons, hunters of the swampy lands, prowl in the murky and bottomless depths of Hell in search of easy prey. 3) Tentacle. Helpful tip: Not all holes dug by them are habitable. These metastases of Hell, closely watched by the Committee scientists, grow across the whole planet, taking root in places where...
  11. Timestamped the moment. Basically, here we have the Codex showing us all the demons we are gonna fight. The list is divided into 4 categories: fodder demons, greater demons, "???" and demonoids. I would assume the "???" category is reserved for bosses, so that means there are 5 of them in total. This is potentially discounting the Makyer bosses or something of that sort, as I have a feeling Hell will not be our only enemy this time around.

I believe here you can find at least some of that footage.

Codex Doom Eternal. New information N2

Well, being a russian has it's perks. Here is my translation: 1) Zombies. Useful tip Use these weak demons to get resources. These servants were humans in the past, but are now possessed by Hell and join it's ranks, - they are those, who... 2) Imps. Vulnerability: bullets Bullet-type weapons will put it down once and for all. Imps, the scavengers of Hell, represent the fauna that is most often seen on the scorched.. 3) The Doom Blade. The Doom Blade is a wrist modification of the praetorian armor that increases the damage dealt by the Slayer in close combat. The jagged blade easily tears through the soft and bone tissue of demons, allowing the Slayer to pierce the enemy's defence and deal a blow to a weak point that is inaccessible to standard weapons. 4) The Combat Shotgun. Despite the impressive arsenal of a modern soldier, this trusty partner is a favourite amongst many. Even after the invention of supeheated plasma or Gauss Cannons, a shotgun shell still remains a good argument in any fight. The simplicity of the design ensures the reliability and the speed of use of the weapon, and the diversity of ammo makes it decent for any situation. Often referred to as the "tamer of crowds", this combat shotgun is capable of putting down... 5) The Hell Barges. Standing on the shoulders of powerful slaves, the Hell Priests commanded the invasion of the realm of mortals. The slave, a captive titan of Hell, carried the temples of priests to the battle lines so that the priests could watch the onslaught of the forces of Hell from a safe fortification. Sitting in the temples, the priests emitted powerful psyonic waves that strengthened the discilpline of the fierce forces of Hell and increased their effectiveness on the battlefield. A slave is immune to conventional weaponry, so the defensive forces... 6) Chainsaw. The legendary gunsmiths of the Night Sentinels said that a weapon becomes great only in the arms of a great warrior. Even though the chainsaw is not an obvious choice, it has become an inseperable part of the Doom Slayer's arsenal. If you want to slice your enemy into little pieces, then the chainsaw is everything that you need. 7) The Sentinels of the Deag Order. Translation of the Corrax tablets. The Sentinels of the Deag Order were made servants of Maykrs, while the latter were conquering Earth, for a good reason. The immutable rule of the Sixth Seal forbids entering the realm of mortals - no creature, be it from Urdak or Hell, has the right to enter the realm of mortals once again. To devour Earth you need to destroy the Seal, and for that reason the Maykrs enlisted support from... 8) Deag Niloks. Deag Niloks is one off the three Hell Priests leading the invasion of Earth. He prefers to act on the surface of the planet, sitting in his terrible cart strapped to the back of a demonic Titan. He towers over the battlefield and sees everything that he needs to, and the Titan can take him to anywhere the priests wishes to be. Ruthless Niloks does not abhor conquering... 9) Gargoyle. Useful tip Shoot it while it's in the air to immediately stun it. Just like their brothers - imps, gargoyles - agile and ruthless creatures, hunting in packs. Their Homeworld - ... 10) Lost Soul Vulnerability: bullets. A blast from a shotgun will send this demon flying and it will explode in several seconds. Vulnerability: Ice Grenade An explosion from an Ice Grenade will instantly destroy a Lost Soul. Lost Souls come from cursed - former humans, who fell out of the mortal realm and are now doomed to un-live forever. 10) Possessed Solider. Vulnerability: bullets. A point-blank shotgun blast will stun a blaster-wielding soldier. Vulnerability: plasma gun. Plasma gun overloads energy shields and can even explode them. Vulnerabulity: Blood Punch. Blood Punch instantly destroys energy shields. The brave soldiers that defended Earth from demons were taken over by darkness in the midst of battle, turning them against their comrades.
  14. So, after the Long-Awaited Gameplay Trailer at Quakecon, we were given quite a bit of Information about what to expect from The Game, though most Things are still a Mystery to Us. So, I gave gathered some Things I noticed, and would just like to present My Own Theories about DOOM Eternal. 1. The Suit Dilemma. Let's see. In the Teaser we saw Doom Slayer with some obviously non-Praetor Armor, more like Manmade Armor that Earth Space Marines would wear. The Suit in the Trailer is pretty different from our Praetor one, despite obviously having the same Origin. This leads me to believe that in the Beginning of the Game our Praetor Suit breaks, and we have to find a new one. This is before we visit Phobos, as we clearly have The Bulky Suit at this point. This means that the First Real Location we would visit is Mars, where we would be not for long. There we would somehow get to Earth. Then to Hell, where we meet an Old Friend, the Wretch, the Demon who created the Praetor Suit. He would give Us new Praetor Armor, the Bulky One, as well as upgrade Our Arsenal, giving us the Ballista (Clearly is made out of the same stuff the Praetor suit is made + the Ballista design is weird for actual guns We, humans would use), the Upgraded SSG (In the Trailer it had clear Rune Symbols on it, and the Chainy and Spiky Grappling Hook doesn't look like something UAC would create) and perhaps some other Things, like that Rocket Launcher. Then, with the new Uprages, We return to Earth, then go to Phobos. This is also supported by the Fact that we have the suit-up animation for The Bulky Suit present. 2. Hell has something Big, really BIG. Remember that BFG 1000?! The Thing would not shoot at something less than a Capital Ship sized Demon, and it would be stupid fo Demons to Invade new Worlds without some Heavy Artillery. 3. The New Locations We would visit. Hell, Earth and Phobos are No-Brainers. Mars can also be considered this too. That shot of a White-Gold Room could be a Part of a Structure belonging to Argent D'Nur. These Creatures look like them too, and these Blue Landscapes seem weird for Phobos or Earth, and especially for Hell. 4. The Power-Ups, Abilities and Upgrages. It seems that We unlock New Abilites by finding these Secret Orbs, and they might replace The Runes. By the looks of it, We can still get Attachments for our Arsenal, but getting them from flying Robots Again seems Unlikely. 5. New Demons. It seems obvious to me that DoomHunters and Marauders are Forces of Hell specifically made to kill Doom Slayer, with Marauders being Something like The Doom Slayer of Their Own. The Imp-Gargoyle like Demons seem like Low-Level Mooks, albeit tougher than Imps or Zombiemen. New Designs seem Weird, I hope there is an explanation for that. Arachnotrons are pretty cool, but I think they look Just Too Much Cartoonish. Pain Elementals certianly have Interesting Combat Mechanics, we need more Info to fully undersand them. Archviles are Amazing, their Brains are Big, Smart Assholes. New ZombieMen are OK, The 2016 Design was Better, IMHO. New Baron of Hell with Blades looks sick. 6. New Guns and weapons. Seem really Interesting. The Rocket Launcher and the Ballista have Hellish designs, the SSG has Strange Rune Symbols on it. Love that Hook mechanic. Some people are not fond of it, some say that it is too stiff. For real? DS is one Big Guy, I doubt a Regular Frail Rope would suit his taste. Plasma Gun looks Amazing, and it fires Amazingly too. Chainsaw is a Chainsaw. No Pistol, it seems. Regular Shotty is Very Badass with these Alt. Fires. The Shoulder Cannon is a Way Nicer Way of Implementing Grenades and Secondary Weapons like that. All Guns sound Pretty Good. 7. What Happens to Samuel Hayden. We kill him. During Phobos it seems We have something resembling the Crucible (Could be it due to major Redesigns for DOOM Eternal, could just have a slight visual transformation after we pick it up), and when We arrive in Phobos, no one seems to expect Our Arrival, it is a surprise for The UAC members. I am pretty sure Samuel would let his people know about the Arrival of his ally, the only one who can stop Hell for Good. And DS is not the Guy to forgive dudes who wronged him, especially those who like backstabbing him. And I think this fight would take place on Mars, an early Pay-Back Boss Fight. 8. The Whole Continuity. So, let me give You My Personal Continuity of The Events in DOOM Eternal. 1. DS wakes up on Mars, where he slays some small amounts of Demons, as most of the Hell's Forces are concentrated on the Invasion of Earth and Phobos. And then the Slayer meets Samuel, The One who likely woke DS up, as ge thought DS would help him. DS fights Hayden, who wields the Crucible. He disables The Praetor Suit, but the Hellwalker defeats him nonetheless. DS uses the Crucible to go to Earth, as he learn from Computer Terminals that The Earth is Under Attack. 2. It turns out that the Past Pockets of Resistance against Hell are futile, and, for the first time, DS is unable to do Much to stop it, Demons are too numerous and overwhelming for DS to stop the Full Invasion Fast Enough, wearing a manmade suit, not the Armor of the Old that empowered him. 3. DS decides to go to Hell, as he remembers the Wretch, the Demon Traitor who created the Praetor Suit for DS. The Unchained Predator has to fight his way through Countless Demons, traverse Immeasurable Hellish Landscapes, and eventually "Hell Hives", where the Demon's Evil is at it's most Potent. There he meets the Wretch, who gives him the New Armor and Uprages/Upgrades his Arsenal. 4. With New Powers Doom Slayer returns to Earth, slaying Demons easily. The Hell, Eternally Scared by this Revelation, decides that Something more Powerful must be created to combat the New DS. The Slayer, on the other hand, ensures that the Earth is safer, and can hold off the Demons. But then he encounters Marauders, Traitorous Argent D'Nur or Perhaps Something Else turned into Demons and given Praetor suits, as Hell found the Praetor suit of the Slayer on Mars, and decided to produce them for their Elite Forces. He defeats a couple of them, and maybe a Boss or Two, and then learns from UAC Men that Demons desperately try to gain their Footing on Phobos, a Place that could give them many Advantages, if they could control it. 5. He uses the Crucible to travel to Hell, where he doesn't spend much time, as he finds a Portal teleporting him to Phobos. He is Lucky enough to get Teleported into a Facility, a Command Center. There he fights some New Menacing Foes, like DoomHunters, designed specifically to kill him, Archviles, and then has a Boss Battle with a Giant Demon-Tentacle Thing, One of The Tentacle-Creatures that were sent to Earth, but regrouped to Invade Phobos. 6. With the defeat of such a Powerful Demon, Hell Forces cowardly retreat, but the Slayer uses the Crucible to catch up with them. There he slays hordes of Powerful demons and finds out that the Wretch was Brutally killed for his many traitorous acts against Hell. After that he stumbles upon a Unique and Unexpected Location, a Portal to a New Dimension, the Place where some of the Argent D'Nur survivors remained hidden and safe. There he reunites with them, and then decides to End Hell once and For All, for What they have done to Him, His Race and Everyone Else. 7. Doom Slayer fights through Hundreds of Demons, from Imps to DoomHunters, and eventually enters What looks like a Giant Castle-like Structure. There he battles with the Main Demon, the Hell Lord resembling the Icon of Sin. Despite The Fight being Brutal, The Slayer defeats the Hell Lord, thinks about returning to the Dimension which bacame the New Home of Argent D'Nur, standing right next to the Portal, but doesn't do that, and instead destroys it by punching it. Deep down he knows that he Saved His People, that His Onslaught is Eternal, and that They Always Come Back. What do You think of This? You can share Your Theories too.

It is A Crucible, and not the one from the previous DOOM. Otherwise, great analysis.

    DOOM Eternal Gameplay Reveal Impressions

Where am I wrong? Doom Guy is meant to be a Survivor, Someone who overcomes the Colossal Odds stacked up against him. Doom Slayer is meant to be an Unstoppable Force of Nature, he IS the Colossal Odds against them, Demons, who cannot overcome them/him.

So, Doom Slayer became so Badass because his Previous Incarnation was Mistaken by Fans to be The Badass Incarnate, which was not the Actual Main Point of the Character? Neat.

DooM_RO, You are the Best! It seems that Baron of Hell is actually a Class of Enemies, so expect to fight more Varieties of them. Cool.

Was that The Crucible in Eternal gameplay at the end?

If We believe the Interview, no it is not the Crucible.

    New interview(s)

Some Things to Note. The Bulky Suit is actually the same Praetor Suit from Doom 2016, just upgraded. That Energy Sword is not the Crucible. We will explore the Past of the Doom Slayer. The Multiplayer will have the PVP Aspect, now done Internally. Many Enemies will have Weaknesses, or Body Parts you can Damage to make them not Functional, like the Tail of Arachnotron. There will be Multiple Multiplayer DLC. The Places on Earth We are gonna visit will be completely Fictional, no Real World Locations.

    3. It is not like the same can be said about Doom 1 and especially Doom 2, right?! 5. It is not like Doom 1 or Doom 2 Demons only made the sound of "manly" cries when they got shot. 6. Why? Valid reasons? Did someone in your house just turn on Justin Bieber tapes or what? 7. Perhaps, but you gotta show Valid Arguments, boi.
