How to easily add more strategy and variety to Doom Eternal
Martin-CAI replied to RoamingMaster's topic in Doom Eternal
Your ideas sound cool, but I think they wouldn't work. The game is really hard as it is, I couldn't even imagine the difficulty that could bring adding random variety of demons, because you'd make things extremely unpredictable. Personally, I think I could like it, but I'm not sure at all that most of the people would be really happy with the idea of not knowing what you're gonna face every time. -
Anyone else really hate how the game markets itself
Martin-CAI replied to Scrabbs's topic in Doom Eternal
I don't know the concept of "people" that you have but, for me, the Revenant drone part was one of the silliest parts in the entire game. It was just intended to be a publicity for Battlemode. It was not even a thing in the game. -
Suppository o' fun

What do you think is the most difficult level from the original Doom Eternal campaign?
Martin-CAI replied to KeaganDunn's topic in Doom Eternal
1st run: Final Sin first, Cultist base second. 2nd+ runs: Cultist base first, Final Sin second. The reason why is because once I got used to be full equipped, it was quite hard in the second try not to dispose of everything. You start to struggle so much from monsters that were quite easy to get rid off before. -
Exactly. The moment when you do a glory kill prevents monsters to attack you, but they can still get closer, though.

Just the title. Me, personally, I'd bring back the gauss cannon for the ballista, but nerfing the big shot a little bit. Another thing that I've never liked about new Doom games (including Doom 3) is the firing sound of the plasma gun. The original one is just perfect.
-
Really cool ideas. I pretty much agree with you except for this: Maybe talking about ballista mods by themselves, yes, they are quite balanced. But comparing both mods among the ones of other weapons, I think they are not as useful as others. Maybe lowering the time to charge the "super arrow" would make it more usable, because we already have the homing rockets for the same funcion, and they do more damage per second and, on top of that, follow the enemy.

Criticism and what I would improve about Doom Eternal
Martin-CAI replied to BetaMarine's topic in Doom Eternal
Getting rid of platforming and adding some actual exploration in maps. That's it. -
If I remember correctly, there was already a thread for this. But in any case: Fast glory kill - Glory kill from further away - Speed boost after glory kill. Yeah, I enjoy doing glory kills.

Do you feel the Doom Eternal community is becoming toxic?
Martin-CAI replied to HQDefault's topic in Doom Eternal
Mmh. I wouldn't say that it's a matter of age. The thing is that new Doom games brought with them discussions about "what Doom actually is". It has no final answer, but these kinds of topics where we debate about the identity of something makes certain people too acid, which makes quite easy to see extremists (lovers of eveything related to new Doom games VS old school doomers that are extremely reluctant to new things). -
I was just wondering, would you guys like a remake of Doom 1 or 2? If so, would you like it to be with the old or the new Doom games mechanics? What things would you like and what others you'd be completely displeased to see? How would you do it? I personally really like the idea of remakes, but I'd surely mix some elements of both Doom eras.

What is the blue sphere (The Ancient Gods Part I)? (DLC spoiler)
Martin-CAI replied to igg's topic in Doom Eternal
It certanly makes sense. If it's not kind of a "real Father's sphere", maybe a portal to a place that we haven't already been. Or maybe decoration, you know... -
Hey @Argenteo, @P41R47, @Danzer, @URROVA and @DJVCardMaster. I wouldn't have imagined that we were so many Argentinians. I pretty much agree with what they mentioned. I could add that we have both Spanish and Italian roots, which means that we keep some intonations, expressions and habits from the latter (at least, in Buenos Aires and in many other provinces). For example this:
-
Actually, the Slayer seems to fight just for humanity's sake. If he has to destroy The Father's life sphere in order to ensure that objective, he'll do it. And he didn't even kill The Father. He just prevented Him to be a problem in the future.

What's your favorite level (The Ancient Gods Part I)?
Martin-CAI replied to igg's topic in Doom Eternal
Blood Swamps for me. I don't really know how to describe it and why, but it gave me the vibe of an old school Doom level in certain moments. -
The Ancient Gods - Impressions and Story Spoilers
Martin-CAI replied to AtimZarr1's topic in Doom Eternal
I liked the DLC. The difficulty was incredible, it was a real challenge. I have never played someting that hard in a Doom series. The criticisms that I have are related to the story. Everything else, I have no complaints. Agree. Also, maybe the idea of having direct contact with ruler entities (The Father and The Dark Lord) is the thing that I don't like at all. You can fight big demons or big angels, but now you're dealing directly with things that have nothing above them (at least, that's what's implied in the codex). It sounds "cool" to fight Satan, we could say, but it also means that we reached the peak of what we can fight against (in terms of Hell things). That has to do, also, with the fact that they progressively started adding god-like characteristics to the Doomguy (which, again, was a thing that I didn't like). The question is: is it gonna be the end of Doom series if you kill the actual ruler of Hell? We'll see. -
Doom II - Hell Unleashed TRAILER OUT NOW!
Martin-CAI replied to MikeyScoots's topic in WAD Releases & Development
A couple of months ago I looked for something like that. I had no luck. But now I see this. I'll try it as soon as you release it, guys. Congrats for the project! -
When did you realise nuDOOM isn't actually christian at all? (Lore thread)
Martin-CAI replied to LuckyEuro's topic in Doom Eternal
As others said, I've never felt that Doom was about battling on the jesus side. I think it's just battling for humanity, and that's it. As @oCrapaCreeper says, the point of the game, I think, is the realization that even those that claimed to be angels (Maykrs) are not less than an advanced species that takes advantage of their technlolgy to make other species (Sentinels and humans, but probably many other species) to believe they're gods. In that sense, the plot of the game (again, as far as I understand it) is that even those that claimed to be good are just using others for their purposes (in this case, using souls of dead people to transform them into energy). It's like those explanations on internet that say that religions started by the encounter of humans and another species that came to visit us. -
He's just trolling at this point.

How much harder is doom eternal compared to doom 2016?
Martin-CAI replied to Dr.Ferret's topic in Doom Eternal
This is the point. I'd say that once you get used to use every tool properly, DE is not really that harder. Demons are harder, yes, but it is compensated with new habilities. If you start playing it like D2016, you're gonna struggle. But once you start using the new things, it's quite similar in terms of difficulty, IMO. -
We're gonna meet something new here. I hope we can destroy it, whatever it is.

You're a game reviewer in the early 90s and must make an unbiased and fair review of the newly released "Doom".
Martin-CAI replied to CasualScrub's topic in Doom General
Are humans or demons actually Doomed? -
Serious question. Is there any risk installing this sort of mods? I mean, being banned.

Playing with my father when I was a little 4yo rising doomer, and now playing with him online. He was my teacher back then, and now I'm his. This game means so much.
