how do you use .ogg/.flac music in eduke32?

    1. where would i write the commands in the first link, user.con? 2. my eduke32 folder doesn't have a user.con file 3. where do i store the music files?
  3. i've scoured google's (increasingly irrelevant and bot-ridden) search results to no avail. i'm trying to play with the roland sc-55 music pack, and won't settle for any less for my first playthrough

Why Was Doom 4 Called Doom?

Can I just say that I hate naming reboots the same as the source material for the reason of "which one?", having to specify is an utter pain in the ass. How is id confused about people calling it Doom 2016? That's the go-to. no-brainer way to show which game you're talking about.

    PC-98 Doom

Oh it works with WADs? That makes me more interested outside of the Japanese market novelty. Also dear Christ I can only imagine Nuts running with its optimisation.

    PC-98 Doom

Everyone talks about the different console ports of Doom 1 and 2, but rarely those to different PC architectures of the time. I only just found out yesterday that Doom was released in Japan for their then-popular PC-9800 series of computers (MS-DOS did horribly in Japan), probably best known internationally for the first five Touhou games. Ported by a company named Infinity, it was published by Imagineer just a few months after the initial US DOS release, and as you can see here it kind of sucks. I find this interesting not just because of its obscurity, but also because FPS's never took off in Japan until just a couple of years ago as of this post. PC as a game platform was rapidly declining at the time of Doom due to the immense popularity and market dominance of the Super Famicom, though I can't say for certain why the SFC/PS1 ports also flew under the radar. Additionally I wonder how exactly this port came to be legally with the guys at id and all that. I know for the longest time that Doom was incredibly obscure there, though it seems to've picked up in recognition at least a bit from Eternal, and Japanese Vtuber Korone Inugami's steams of Doom 64 and 2016. More (though not much more) information on the port: https://doomwiki.org/wiki/Doom_in_Japan#PC-98
  8. I was 12 in 2014, played the shitty Steam version in windowed mode on Not Too Rough and had the piss scared out of me when I first saw a pinkie in the tunnel maze of e1m4. I think I was on a Quake hyperfixation high after learning about QTF through my TF2 addiction (which was my first FPS, got into it the same year) and I wanted to check out more id games.
  9. I don't understand why this isn't working
  10. For some reason the Chocolate Doom download from the official website doesn't have the setup file I need Edit: NVM, it's called chocolate-doom-setup.exe
  11. I just saw a video mentioning .ogg file support for music, but I can't figure out how to enable it. I'd really like to play with the Roland SC-55 music packs that I have, which is the sound font Bobby Prince composed the music with.

    ZDoom server not working

I'm trying to host a ZDoom (not GZ) server with my friend using the steps in this guide but he always gets stuck on "contacting the host". We've verified that we're both using the latest version and the Ultimate Doom WAD. I've port forwarded my router but I'm not exactly sure what goes in the "inbound port" column and can't find any information on that. Yes, I've made sure to write zdoom instead of gzdoom and that he's using my public IP address.
