Working on the second Christmas-themed duel map!
Here are some WIP screenshots I have so far.
Gonna call this pack something like 'Jolly DM' , 'Jolly Duel' - not sure which one sounds better.
The below BFG perpetually raises and lowers on a pillar that goes through a hole in the ceiling - should make for some interesting encounters!
Also working on a little subterranean office in this map - I'm getting better at furniture, now that I roughly know 3D floors.
Just wanted to give some idea of the geometry for this map! I may finish it later today, or tomorrow.

I've decided to make that one Christmas duel map into a 3 map duel pack.
I finished another D64 deathmatch level. I'll post screenshots in a bit.

Was playing ATV Offroad Fury today. Gave me an idea.
Has anyone ever made a motorcross themed DM map? Air control and faster running acceleration might make for a fun time.
I imagine that the typical obstacles and slopes could make for an interesting map. See pic. Quite a bit of cover, quite a bit of opportunity to do cool jumps and manoeuvres.
Not sure of how to properly implement this the way I want yet, but it's on the table for 2024.

Here's the layout for a merry little duel map I'm working on - I thought it'd be fun to make a Christmas themed level!
Not done the texturing, but I should be soon - I'll post an update when I'm done.

I wanted to give a 'gardening' update! Just because it's freezing cold out, that hasn't stopped me from growing plants!
My Petunia Exserta plants are now brutishly large. They dwarf the current pot they're in. The plants sprawl so aggressively! They don't quite 'vine' but 'crawl' if that makes sense. I love that deep scarlet flower color, though. Don't know why I decided to grow this one indoors, I don't have the most space right now. I only planted these two petunia plants on August 8th - pretty crazy the amount of growth that's happened in a short amount of time. They've been blooming every day since early November. The two plants in that pot put out probably 15-20 new flowers a day, and probably lose as much a day. Very aggressive bloomer. My fertilizer is treating me well.
Keep in mind this was done in a basement w/ absolutely zero natural light. I just used cheap 40 dollar tripod lights, and 30 dollar clamp lights from Amazon.
I might cut this thing into a bunch of pieces by next season, plant a whole row of them in my garden. Only problem is, this plant has like a flypaper like consistency to its leaves - so it'd be covered in dead bugs in a few days. So yeah, not sure what to do w/ it, and I'm certain transplanting it would kill it.
Below are some of my pepper plants:
The purple one is a Cat's Eye plant - it produces nearly pitch black fruits that turn bright red; the largest plant on the left is a Redfinger, the pot on the far right is a Tennessee Teardrop plant - they're purpling right now, so should be fully ripe and red soon!
Back behind that one is my dwarf Orange Thai plant. It's a really compact little bush - I haven't seen it produce yet, but it was about a week behind the others. Tried one of the Redfinger peppers today, and wow - quite hot. Good hotsauce material, tbh.
Maybe I'll get enough pepper weight to make a small bottle of hotsauce - you can't tell from the picture, but the Redfinger is extremely productive - it's filled w/ little banana colored peppers that will soon be red.
So yeah, quite a bit of indoors gardening going on! Had to give an update!
Hope everyone's week is starting off alright!

Finishing up the first large update for Frantik Collection.
162 -> 182 maps.
Hoping to have the update out this week some time. The final map in the collection, (Pump-house Peril) has not been published before.

I'm working on a new D64 Revolution DM map. This is gonna be some kind of hellish base? Lots of lava? Fire? Something like that.
Went for some different geometry in this one.
This is my 7th layout for this project. 3 layouts including this one are untextured right now.
3D floors are a lot of fun, I think I'm getting used to them - they open up a lot of new possibilities.
Hope everyone has been doing well, I'm in a major mapping mood today - I might whip a couple more layouts up today.

I'm just beginning the planning stages for Frantik DM 3.
I'm thinking it will be in GZDOOM:UDMF - gives me the most options, but I think this limits it to Zandronum.
I've learned a lot recently working w/ UDMF while making D64 levels.
Frantik DM 3 will make use of 3D floors and bridges, and will likely be 30 maps long, (3 themed episodes of 10 maps each).
I'm thinking of using Otex 1.1 again - just because the other entries in the series use it, and because I think it gives the most options in terms of different environments.
I might not start this until the new year - I've also got some Quake 3 levels I want to re-make, now that I'm familiar w/ 3D floors more.

170 multiplayer levels released so far this year.
I've got a few levels for a cool D64 related project coming up, as well as another 5-6 maps or so that I have done, that I need to release still.
Still working on Fury CTF, and I have every intention to begin the mapping for Vending Machine - I just haven't gotten there yet.
I've got lots of stuff planned for next year already, including upgrading my 162 map compilation into a 200 map compilation.
Things have been going well, I hope everyone else is doing decently, too.
