Couldn't sleep.
I've just come up w/ an incredibly mean-spirited trap for my next level...
Involving a sequence of lowering floors, teleporting lines, 4 revenants and a cybie...

About the goofy new profile pic:
I thought it was way too literal of an interpretation of the words 'arrow' + 'head', so I was gonna use it for April Fools.
Turns out I kind of like it a bit more than just for one day of the year - I'm gonna keep it for a little while until I can get something else commissioned.
Not like my previous one was great, either - it was just 4 black lines, a white fill, and then I threw it into one of those free animators online.
I'd be happy to use something else, or have something made for me, but I don't know anybody who does such a thing!
If anyone knows someone who can make me a profile picture, (commissioned or not - just not made w/ AI) I'd be willing to change it. It's not supposed to mean anything other than literally 'arrow' + 'head', lol.
Although, it looks mildly pretentious - like there's ideas flying out of my head or something haha.

Frantik DM 3: MAP14: Watering Hole:
Getting somewhere!
Still have to make that tank - I'll place it in the two empty bottom areas in the below picture:The middle ruin is going to be hotly contested, as it has a great view of the rest of the map - I added a railgun up there!
Players can also climb to the very top of the 'tower', which provides a nice vantage point, but also makes you extremely vulnerable. The inner roof height is low enough that rocket splash should come into play - this will keep snipers from camping too long, as they are still quite vulnerable to counterattacks. I may place an additional railgun elsewhere, to further pressure the advantageous position of the central tower.:D

I learned ACS 'LadderClimb'. My previous methods of making ladders would not work here!
Here's the current version of the watchtowers:
There's gonna be a path cut into each, so that a catwalk can be connected. Going to use 'jumpable railings' on the catwalk.
Should turn out decently, I hope!

Funny you just said that - I was just running into that problem.
I got them to work once in my MAP25 (Plutonium Nightmare), but I can't seem to replicate that here.
So how do I put midtex rails up on the catwalk, while allowing them to be jumped over, and while allowing players to move under. I got it before, but I can't seem to get it right now.

Seeing an exercise yard, a single 2 storey cell block, maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe a simple cafeteria? Watch towers w/ railguns?
It's all possible - I just gotta see what happens.

Frantik DM 3: MAP20: LETHAL LOCKDOWN:
Alright, I've already got this all squared away in my head. Here's a quick sketch I did - I almost never sketch anything out first, most of my maps are off the top of my head...
But I figured for a more 'realistic' location, it'd make sense to plan ahead at least a little bit. I generally don't like making sketches / planning things out - it makes me feel a bit constrained.
But no matter, it will work for this level.
I've included super simple sketches for a 3D floors / midtex basketball hoop - a dumbbell, and the general layout I'm wanting. Going to use a fence texture for the hanging netting on the basketball hoop. I'm also including a small handball court, and a bunch of exercise machines. Pull-up bars, an 'airwalker' (possibly), balance beams, parallel bars, benches, etc. etc.
Cafeteria will be basic, but there will be the typical 'bolted down' tables + stools combo, as well as a 'behind reinforced glass' canteen area.
Lots of opportunities here, I think.
Guardtowers will be a combination of invisible bridge pieces, midtex, and 3D floors. I've already got a plan for one floating around in my head. There will be raised catwalks that connect the two positions.
Now I'm getting excited!
Should be fun! At the very least, a good challenge.

One of these days I'll get back to it for sure - just not sure when - very helpful resources, though - thanks for that! I've wanted to learn some basic Blender stuff, as I've heard people use that for Q3, but I've heard the learning curve can be a bit daunting compared to something like UDB.
Might have to learn 'Trenchbroom' along the way - that might help me transition to Q1/2/3 better.

Thinking up something new.
A factory.
Overhead pincer cranes, conveyor belts? Crates / boxes? Rust? Warning stripes? An incinerator?
Something like that.
Maybe a large central atrium where one can jump across pincer cranes holding boxes?
Maybe if I go completely insane, I might try to make a 3D floor forklift...

I'm not 100% done the geometry or flow yet - but I should be finished by tonight, most likely.
I'm glad this is coming together correctly. This was the only map I was 'worried' about...

The third hell level is in the works - this is some kind of open-floorplan cemetery.
Might add an above-ground mausoleum in the lower region of the map.
Nowhere near done yet, but I'm hoping I can have most of it finished by tonight!
I think the little 3D floor crosses work pretty well as tombstones. I'm going to of course add other common tombstone designs, too.
The sky will likely change, it's not giving me the exact vibe I want.

This is potentially going to sound weird...
I had a lucid dream last night about a deathmatch level taking place on top of a jungle canopy.
There were 3D bridges, 3D floors, jump pads, no-stop teleporters, and a hollowed out tree...
I think it's possible to do in Zandronum - would fit my 'nature' episode well.
Gotta move things around in my head until they make sense, but it should be doable.
