  1. During my spare time I was imagining what an origin story for Doomguy would look like as an animated film or acted with real people. It would be an interesting concept since aside from there being brief summaries of how he got to the position he was in, there isn't much that expands on the visual aspect of the events that led up to his demon-perforating voyage. From the fan-written fiction on Doomguy we know that he was demoted for disobeying an order to fire on civilians and went up in arms against his commanding officer, this act of insubordiantion led to his reassignment to serving on a base on Mars, in what was believed to be a punishingly boring and secluded post. During his time on Mars, Doomguy worked alongside the UAC as they were performing secret experiments on interdimensional travel. When the UAC's experiments backfired on them, the demons of Hell were able to invade and swarm Deimos and Phobos, Mars' moons, where they slaughtered nearly all UAC and Space Marine personnel, transforming them into zombies to fight their former allies -- leading to E1M1.

    For GZDOOM does the video still apply when adding to TEXTUREx? The GZDOOM step looks a lot simpler but I'm hitting a block with the resizing; there's an option to crop but I can't seem to figure out how to resize the image.

    Yeah Boom sounds good, I'm just trying to keep it relatively minimalistic in terms of form and function. I'm still learning map design and I feel it's best if I nail gameplay design elements before diving into any more complex mapping and mechanics. The compatibility is attractive to me because it means it can be played in more source ports, and like you say, Boom is capable of demo recording/playback which is nice. Would you say it's best to stick to Ultimate Doom Builder or Doom Builder 2?

    Would it be Doom 2? Or Boom? I want something with a decent amount of features but something that will run with most ports. UDMF is great but I want to limit myself for creative reasons and I like the simplistic map designs; how you can create something fun and interesting from less options,

    It was the first one I used as well, but I think it was more for Heretic because I bought it on steam and realised the default DOS version was awful to play with.

    Phantom Lost Soul?

    Hiya, so this might sound odd but as I've been tweaking enemies in my map, I've disovered when I playtest it, there's this rogue lost soul that comes out of somewhere I can't pinpoint in the editor? I've tried searching all possible things in the map but I can't seem to find where it usually appears. Is there a way to filter out enemy types in things (I don't know how to use the editor to it's fullest yet, it's Ultimate Doom Builder). Edit: I found out that F3 filters what things you can replace. Turns out it wasn't set to ambush, so it was this errant lost soul
