A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to have a little vacation with the beautiful @Snaxalotl :) We had a damn good time, and now she's well on her way to creating dark, evil sounding music using actual instruments! ... (That 5 string bass kicks ass btw)

Hey, have you tried Double Impact?
-
Nice to see you posting again, Matt. :^)

I played Redemption Denied recently, an 8-map level set for Doom 64.
Map 08 was trying so hard to be Darkgat2, it actually stung a little. -
hey Maximum Matt have you seen this yet mate

It's finally happening!
Final Doom - A Rise to the Top Series! Part 1 - YouTube -
Hey guys!
A lot of you have been following my Maximum Doom journey lately, and because of that, I want to give a shoutout to a fellow aspiring creator, a fellow by the name of CIA who's been at it for about a month now. He's began a series going through all the various Maximum Doom levels, and giving them quick, humorous, almost Maximum-Matt-like reviews. He's incredibly funny imo, and needs some support. 100% recommend you check him out, starting with this video:
Also, leave a comment on it, specifically this, if only to confuse him: "Turn around and let everyone represent."
Thanks guys!!-
And dude, did you watch that episode? About how to actually get the key in the baron death room?? You have to find a secret button to open the wall and get the cyberdemon infighting with them - I got munched a hundred times in that room before I worked that out, and I've watched you, Tarns, Paul and Deathstalker ALL try to run in, grab the key, and run out without getting surrounded. I'm glad there's finally someone who explained what the deal is with this damn level.

1_on_1.wad. Seems like a lifetime ago now.
It seems almost cruel that Maximum Doom starts off with such a relatively competent and good-looking level, as people will play it, be all like "okay, homemade levels, doesn't seem so bad!!" and then [insert Spongebob 'SIX MONTHS LATER' pic] they REALLY begin to realize what Max Doom truly is.
I shall keep an eye on this young lunatic, and track his descent into insanity. The Maximum Doom Renaissance is growing.

So it turns out you haven't played all the Memento Moris.

Yo man, I gotta give you a suggestion about an upcoming wad - OBTIC1 - that is designed to be played with special enemies and weapons. https://doomwiki.org/wiki/Obituary
Obituary was created by The Innocent Crew (TiC), two brothers who previously made Slaughter Until Death (SUDTiC) which was on Maximum Doom as E2M1-9 of SLAUGHT.wad (which you can totally remember playing :-).
Now as you know, Doom PWADs can insert new things into the game such as maps, textures, sounds, and music, but enemies and weapons are more hard-coded and more difficult to 'hack into' and change. The 'official' version of OBTIC1 is apparently a bit difficult to install - it needs a separate editor to get it properly going in Vanilla Doom, but there may be a GZDoom mod available out there, or maybe you could get it going with your epic computer skills :-)
The Maximum Doom version is totally playable, but not as intended, for example as some reviewers say here - the first level has a part where you fight too many hell knights in a cramped area with no ammo - the proper version converts these enemies into 'super imps' and is more manageable. I know that you could probably grind through it, but I thought it would be cool to see it as originally intended, and fight some 'new' enemies for a change.
Again, from what I understand, it's a bit of a pain to get it to run correctly, and playing the normal Max Doom version doesn't change the fact that you'll be going through all these new maps. But on the other hand, it is on Doomworld's Top Ten 1995 Wads and considered a classic of it's era. And besides, who doesn't wanna see a rocket trooper accidentally gib himself?!https://onemandoom.blogspot.com/2011/04/obticwad-obituary.html

You should do close-ups of the various Doom enemies in their 3D-style for the pics, as some of them look great (the piggies) and some just look awful (pain elementals).
And like I said, I have no idea how hard it would be to install the mod - I never tried it myself, so I don't know if it's worth the effort, but I think it's definitely worth a look.

It's back. After a 2 month hiatus, we face the return of one of the most popular, most unique, and most love-hate series on YouTube: Maximum Doom - The Completionist Project!
-
I finally finished Getting Over It! All 50 times.
Now, I can get back to work on Maximum Doom. ;) -

Whoa!! I haven't been watching, did you complete it multiple times per stream?
As you know, I'm not a big fan of that game - looks WAY too frustrating for me, and the idea to complete it FIFTY times seems like an epic troll move by Mr. Foddy. I hope the reward was map coordinates to some buried gold or something.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't one of the levels from "The Lost Episodes of Doom" in Maximum Doom?
-
https://doomwiki.org/wiki/The_Lost_Episodes_of_Doom
Yes, most of them actually. Created by Christen Klie (who also did six of the Master Levels), there are various incarnations of maps in the lost levels (and don't ask me which ones, I couldn't be bothered checking every one out!!) that also appear in the various "chris" wads in the Doom 2 folder (CHRIS2, CHRIS2A, CHRISK12, CHRISK2, CHRISK22, CHRISPA2, CHRIS_E2) as well as possibly some more in the THUD! series, and of course more scattered randomly through various wadpacks and single-level wads. I believe only Episode 3 of the Lost Episodes was created after Max Doom came out. But don't quote me on that. Actually, quote me on that, I don't care

Quick question: What, in your opinion, are the 5 worst Maximum Doom wads?
-
That ain't no quick question, man!
I try to block the crap ones out of my mind and remember the better ones, so I'll try to go off the top of my head.....
I won't count any remakes of IWAD levels, because you and I know that they are by far the worst offenders in Max Doom, and trying to pick the VERY worst one of those would be next to impossible. And I won't count any DM-only maps because nah man. Nah.
You've got those so-bad-it's-good levels, like DMDV2, NICK, SUBWAY11, MIC2, and one you just played on your last stream, HELLRAI2 (as terrible as it is, I must admit that this was the type of thing I wanted to encounter in Max Doom - yes, a level that starts you right in front of a cyberdemon. YES.)
And you got boring levels and broken levels which I hate, but the ones that stick out most to me are the maze maps, ones that just drop you into a ton of right-angled narrow corridors, the ones where you have to back up to the end to avoid every imp fireball; ones with little to no height variation or differences in lighting, NO landmarks of any kind, just right-left-right-left-right-left-right. Hate them. So ones like ZMAZE112 and LABYRIN2 are the worst of the worst for me. And SORROW2. Oh, and that bastard strobe-light maze part in THETEET2 where the whole ceiling comes down on you if you take a wrong turn.
I think I'll stop here, because I'm getting PTSD flashbacks :-) (I'm kinda joking, but kinda not.) Again I tried to push memories of the crap ones out of my mind.
EDIT: You know what, that SEWERS.wad is one of the worst, simply because It's probably the most well known Max Doom map, as it was tacked onto the Xbox version of Doom and totally shouldn't have. It was accessible from E1M1, dammit!
Have you checked out my Max Doom list? I rant about quite a few crap wads I encountered throughout my experience, it's not ordered at all but maybe you'll find it good for a laugh - it's here
-
-
I did what you suggested, and got high on stream, lol.
-
Delta-8 THC? A vape pen? Please. Get some REAL skunk, man!! Roll a big bomber joint, smoke out the whole room :-)
Just kidding. You did have kinda droopy eyes by the end of it, and you seemed to be startled by specters more than normal.
But yeah dude, plowed through all the E1M1 remakes in one go!! (or at least the ones NAMED E1M1, you'll be seeing a crapton more in the future.)
And you finally beheld the Glory that is..... YAK WORLD.

I did 67 maps today.... the last of the D maps in the Doom 2 folder, other than the Dwango levels (and dweel2.wad, because it's after Dwango).
On Saturday morning, I'm doing a special Dwango deathmatch stream with viewers, to finish off the Maximum Doom D maps, and next week, I start on the E maps! #RoadtoZorf -
Yo man, this is something I'm gonna try to do more often - give you a heads up on upcoming Max Doom levels.
I see you've got some wadpaks that have a bunch of stuff you've already played - like I've said you can skip DOOM142 as it's just the first three episodes of Doom I converted. There's also the DOOMPL series -
DOOMPL12.wad maps -
1 - AMBUSH.wad
2 - E1M1 remake
3 - E3M1 remake (and was also E1L1RQ.wad)
4 - E2M1 remake
5 - ATLNTS12.wad
6 - forget the name of this one, but you would've played this one before in a wadpak
7 - A crappy dark slaught map (you'll probably recognize it)
DOOMPL32.wad -
1 - STONES.wad
2 - I think you've played this one...?? (sorry to be unsure)
3 - NOPANIC2.wad - Don't know if you've already played it, but it's in the D2 folder
4 - Not sure, but it's tiny
5 - Your favorite, WARHOUSE.wad :-)
6 - E1M2 remake
7 - E1M5 remake
8 - E1M6 remake
DOOMPL42.wad -
1 - E2M1 remake
2 - E2M1 remake (....yeah)
3 - THIS one looks new
4 - And this one
5 - And this one
6 - E1M2 remake
7 - CASTLE.wad
8 - E1M1 remake
So this might help you blast through these wads when you get to them. I'll keep an eye out in the future for other potentially redundant wads you'll be up against.
Peace
