az0919, The Man Known as JD "Herrera", has been doing some covers of songs by Tolwyn and Mark Klem from Memento Mori and Memento Mori II, two popular megawads for Doom 2. You can find his stuff on YouTube: Anger (Memento Mori 1), Anger's Reprise (MM2), And Blood will Spill (MM2)

Progressive Fiction (Hadephobia now on /idgames)
Tolwyn replied to purist's topic in WAD Releases & Development
? Did I screw something up? I really don't need a *.txt credit. I was just being "old school" The TNT stuff I think is just really "not mine" to give away, per se, since it was very collaborative. I just want to know when you stuff is done so I can enjoy playing it! To be honest, if you use the TNT stuff, I really don't think anyone gives a rats ass... I'm just being considerate to Ty and the gang. -

Yup. Use whatever music you like except the TNT stuff, basically. All I ask is a *.txt credit and maybe an email so I can play it! -
Mark, you gonna post the song or what? :)

Original Sprites and Textures (patches) Partical system okay Open GL (I hate parallaxing up/down) Turn auto-aim off Best feature I love: Skyboxes I love PRBoomGL, JDoom I don't like getting too fancy with slopes and stuff.

I think Doom2 is a typical sequal level-wise. Love map 15, ICON of Sin is a great end-boss object. The new sector tags, linedefs were desperately needed... remember, id was more concerned about engine enhancements than anything else. In that, they succeeded with Doom2. Thy Flesh Consumed is still my all-time favorite, and I think I do prefer Doom over Doom2, but I design for Doom2 due to the sector tags and SSG.* * all-time favorite "official" release. And the new monsters are just awesome to have.

Yup. First song is done. Waiting on MARK to post it here. ;) It likely isn't what you expect.

In all honesty, I only prefer coop doom. Or 4-player DM. Memento Mori 2 map 15 and the super-secret level "Go To It" are the best maps I've played My confession: I have over 300 demos (LMPs) recorded of me and various friends playing this game (and equal number of demos for Quake and Quake2).

Every Doom level is a morsel to be cherished. A sweet beauty to behold and caress, like a lover.
-
Yup. We're working together right... now, actually. Right... this... very... second.

I'm active. In more ways than one. :)

It's still in the oven. Baking is almost done on a demo. ;)

My criteria is: Is the level fun to play? (and that's about it) Lost Levels and Fava Beans are still very much high on my list.

I (literally) wrote the manual on DB. It's a great editor. I personally like it better than DB2, not because of .NET, but because several features are no longer available in DB2. That being said, I like what DB2 does with certain things... so... I have *gasp* both installed and used them both in my last pwad.

It was 1993 and I just got back to my hometown after graduating from College. While visiting my friend and High School band director in his office during school hours, he showed me what had just been released on the BBS network... Shareware Doom. I was immediately hooked. I now had 2 reasons to own a PC. Lucas Arts X-Wing and Doom. The rest is... well, you know.

Proud of JD, humbled that he did this at all! Anger is one of my favorite Doom songs of ALL time. I remember first hearing it, and to me, it's epitomizes Klem's style perfectly. That's why I had to tip the cap to it in Anger's Reprise in MM2. Full circle type thing. Anchor is also there! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0WGEok9m24&feature=related FWIW... Mark and I are... planning... something... ....maybe. ;)

If D1 open door, do NOT tag the door sector, only the linedef. My guess is you have the other side linedef's 1st side pointing the wrong way. Flip it so it's not going INTO the door, but rather out from the door.

Oh, c'mon. Icarus Map 01 has everything you could possibly need. A little Rush, a little NIN, a little Prince, and all baked and processed in the Tolwyn-style! (Actually Icarus 1 was one of my own personal favorites)

I've been talking to a lot of my buddies, either around the 'Net and around town when we used to get into games like: Wolfenstein (When it first came out)... Star Wars: X-Wing Doom etc. I was on Vax Terminals, BBS's, I used to be on Compuserve with a Commodore 64 and a 300 baud modem back in the day... I have in my collection, I would honestly bet money, every Doom PWAD that ever came out starting with 1994 onward (even more than ftp.cdrom.com). How old are the folks on Doomworld now? I'm starting to get the impression most of you folks can be my kids. When Doom came out, I was 23 years old. I got married the next year... Got my first pentium computer the next year, and since have had 7 computers; put together 18 computers for friends and family... Just curious how this works.

What is the best looking Doom app for all old games.
Tolwyn replied to HeXploiT's topic in Doom General
I like PRBoom+ for demo support and "vanilla" Doom PWADS. I like JDoom (Doomsday) when I don't need the demo support, or want to have a more (IMHO) atmospheric experience with skyboxes. Also, has the ability to turn off autoaim. I like GZDoom for OpenGL support of the Zdoom/Boom capabilities. I like Chocolate Doom when I need to test a map for "vanilla" compatibility. I like Skulltag for some great options for Multiplay (DM and/or Coop). There is no ONE TRUE correct answer to your question. -

At an average of 1MB per port, usually, try them all. The iwads can be in one location, and all the ports can be elsewhere! That way, you can play all the levels made for any/all the ports! -
I used to be hip in 98. What happened? [editing]
Tolwyn replied to Zylinderkatze's topic in Doom Editing
Hi. I'm Tolwyn. You might remember me from President Carter's administration. You might not know me from Adam. But... rumour has it... I've been around. And around... then I was around again. Doombuilder 1 and Doombuilder 2 are great editors. Get both. It's okay. Use both. They both have strengths and weaknesses. Get XWE and SlumpED. Believe me, they both have strengths AND weaknesses. Use: Prboom+ GZDoom Zdoom Chocolate Doom Doomsday (Jdoom) SkullTag And maybe a few others to work on/with. You will find one or two that you PERSONALLY like, and all that you should test with, and some that you will design specifically for. You're going to pick this up fast. It's easy. Even the slopes in GZdoom (I've seen levels that are just frickin' amazing) are easy to understand. You are in my generation. We've used Waded, DETH, etc. Hi. How are ya doin? Do a couple practice wads. Don't be like me. I release work about every 3 years, but just have fun. It's still a freakin' blast. -
Yup. Vector Star Wars was great. Used to do the same thing at the local roller rink. Up Down. Upper left, Lower Right Left, Right repeat. Get all the towers, good bonus points.

Ok. Since I'm using new equipment... and, uh, I haven't done new Doom music since like... the Apollo program... I have some compatibility questions. My new map is meant for vanilla doom. My new map recommends limit removing ports. I've tested in: ZDoom PRBoom + Doomsday (Dengine) Sigh. It is really hard for me to export new music that I'm doing in my studio to the general midi format (MUS). I'm thinking I'm going to opt for a separate music PWAD; recommending that people NOT use the extra PWAD if they're using Chocolate Doom, Doom 95, or Dos doom. MP3 or OGG? I have no preference, myself... Do I just insert a lump d_runnin (for example) and it will work in ports that are cool with that, and ignored by ports that aren't cool with that?
