    What is your greatest fear?

Without saying too much personal stuff and probably writing an autobiography in the process. I'm almost entirely just terrified about my future in recent months.

What's your opinion on tagging nicknames in DW?

I'm not sure, let me ask @Phobos Anomaly and @Dunn (& Dunn) to see what they think about it.

    This probably SHOULD be said...

Eh I'm not too sure about it, Doom 2016 and Eternal have basically done the same already, with the UAC deliberately opening the gate to hell instead of genuinely doing it by accident like in the original games. And IMO I'm not too much of a fan of that sort of plot/premise.
  5. Uh what are you talking about here ?

Apparently Take Two is taking down alot GTA Mods.,

Oh wonderful, there goes my hope of being able to enjoy GTA mods once I can finally do away with this god forsaken machine. It has taken me so long to replace this garbage can that Take Two has already began giving the finishing blow to the last of their actual fans, and soon all that will be left are the infants and adults with little to no self control that buy 50 shark cards to harass others with shitty flying bikes in GTA Online. Add it to the list of things I'm too late in experiencing. Maybe I'll be able to finally replace this computer by the time GTA VI comes out, but seeing the direction Take Two is taking the GTA series (Down the shitter.), and knowing that several of the original Rockstar members and founders have left the company recently, I won't hold my breath on being able to actually play any new good GTA game besides that one time like 8 years ago that I was able to play GTA IV on someones' PS3. Also @Kizoky, why would they care ? That's not where they get their billions of dollars every year. Edit: I just read more of the posts the OP linked, and they are apparently going after fucking SAN ANDREAS MODS, FOR A 17 YEAR OLD GAME, the one game I want to get and mod a lot, real cool and good Take Two. The fact that they went after such an old game that they basically cannot make any more money from, tells me that at this point T2's decision was just pure evil and pettiness, nothing more.

what's your favorite type of doom level

Some of my favorite map types are urban/city maps, or just maps that are at least semi-realistic in design and layout, like the ones in Extermination Day and and Lost Civilization 1 and 2, I also especially like it when they are made in ZDoom source ports since it allows you to make stuff like 3D floors and custom actors to make the levels more lifelike etc, that aren't possible in vanilla or boom based source ports. I've also thought of making a huge semi-realistic urban map of a city for L/GZDoom for a few months now as well, but due to a lack of creativity and motivation, having a computer too shit to make the mapset with, and now IRL issues, I have been constantly pushing that back, plus I have A LOT of work to do on other stuff for the map like props, destructible vehicles and so on and so forth. So the only map I made of that type is a single set piece, I've only used it for a one off joke that I had originally made it for, and later used it as part of the thumbnail for one of my mod showcase/demonstration videos.

Audacity Is Spying On You Now

Yeah I have already updated to 3.0.2 and do not plan on updating to 3.0.3 when it is fully release. I also blocked all out and inbound connections for it through Windows Firewall. I don't think they've re-added the the spyware yet. They've just updated the privacy policy so far.

Audacity Is Spying On You Now

You can still download the latest version, as it was released before Audacity's acquisition AFAIK.

Audacity Is Spying On You Now

I remember when one of Muse's programmers first made a pull request that added spyware to the program, which then caused the comments on the PR to become a massive shitshow where Audacity was dogpiled by everyone for adding telemetry, and from Google of all companies no less. At that time I had also posted the link to the PR along with an explanation of what is happening with Audacity on the ZDoom Discord, then they backed down from adding the spyware. But obviously I and most other people knew that this would only be temporary before they did it again. And what do you know. I also like how they changed it so anyone under 13 cannot legally use an audio editor. Or how they will send your usage info from said audio editor to law enforcement in Russia and beyond. Apparently Putin is sitting in his office wanting to know how many fart.wav sound effects I export every month. By the way here is a video that the guy who owns Muse made about his acquisition of Audacity. I found out about the spyware PR by watching his video and deciding to check Audacity's GitHub out of curiosity. I'd suggest that everyone dislikes the video now that we know that he definitely wants to turn the program into spyware. Edit: Apparently he is deleting all the comments criticizing the direction he took Audacity too. How shocking.

    What is Your Job/Career?

None, I have no job, nor any skills or motivation to work anywhere really, and I doubt I'd be able to do any job with a set time to get up, work, sleep etc and a boss telling me what to do, especially since I'm pretty bad at following orders and don't do well in a team or anything like that AFAIK. At best I may be able to get some miserable IT job that barely makes ends meet, but I'm not too sure about that, because while computers may be one of the few things I have any knowledge in, I still barely know how to actually use one. Plus the exams I had last month to get a diploma or whatever covered computer networking and programming, literally the two IT subjects I know the LEAST about, so I'm pretty sure I'll fail and have to redo the exams next year, which means that instead of being done with school, next school year my mom will enroll me to also learn to become an electrician. Something that I have absolutely no interest or knowledge in. Not getting a diploma or whatever it's called is a problem, since without a paperweight claiming that I know stuff I won't be able to become anything besides a waiter or some shit, and god knows I'd fuck that up with how socially awkward/inept and extremely clumsy and out there I am. So I'd struggle even in a minimum wage job with barely any entrance requirements. I'm basically spending this summer worried about what the fuck I'll do with my life when I'm so inept and unknowledgeable is much of anything. And how I'll be able to do anything once I have to do another year of school. TL;DR I don't have a job, may never have one, and if I do have one eventually, it will certainly be miserable, leave me with no free time, and barely give me any income. I'm racing against what are possibly the last 2 months of (A lot of) free time I'll have, to get a new computer and be able to finally resume Doom modding. To at least be able to do something I like before I start wasting away the rest of my life worrying about RL responsibilities and problems 25/8 until I'm 6 feet under.

How do you crash GZDoom intentionally?

    I don't know how the specific effect that you mention could be achieved, of having the game shut down without warning, but in GZDoom there's a ZScript function called ThrowAbortException(), which causes L/GZDoom to VM abort, though that isn't exactly a game crash. You can also put a text string as a parameter, which the game then also prints out in the console when the game aborts. Below are examples of a ThrowAbortException() called with and without a custom message: ThrowAbortException("Text goes in here."); ThrowAbortException(); And here is a custom ZScript actor that simply induces a VM abort when spawned. Class VMAbort : Actor { Override Void PostBeginPlay() { Super.PostBeginPlay(); ThrowAbortException(); } } Mind you it's kind of obvious when the particular function is used, since the console log says that the abort was caused from Object.ThrowAbortException. Another way you can really easily induce a VM abort and without calling the above function, is to have an actor check for or try to modify a nonexistant pointer, such as this actor that tries to call A_Die() on a null target pointer. Class InvalidTarget : Actor { Override Void PostBeginPlay() { Super.PostBeginPlay(); Target.A_Die(); } }

If your default map format is something other than UDMF: Why?

That sounds more like a problem with how you approach making UDMF maps, just because you can change flat alignments in UDMF, it doesn't mean you need to try and micromanage every texture like I myself used to. You can just use flat offsets and independent sidedef offsets to align stuff that would be very off otherwise such as teleporters not placed in a 64 MU grid, and most people wouldn't notice or complain about really small details unless they are spending half their time in a map looking at every nook and crany for any inconsistency or mistake. TL;DR This basically falls under "no need to spam every feature in every room" again.

If your default map format is something other than UDMF: Why?

Honestly I don't get why people have this idea of UDMF being overwhelming, sure there are a lot of options, like how there's a TON of linedef flags to choose from, but you just need to know that you won't have to use all of them, and to simply ignore the line and sector flags or properties you don't want to use like reflectivity, when I moved from limit removing Doom format to UDMF I didn't have such an issue with all the variety in options like everyone else seems to, not for longer than maybe a few days. Nor was the learning curve that steep, even for someone like me who genuinely just could NOT make a functioning door no matter what for MONTHS after I had begun mapping. How old and slow is your laptop ? Even the old 2012 desktops on my IT lab can run the latest GZDoom versions at 150+ FPS, running unoptimized mods like Project Brutality, let alone vanilla Doom. And if your laptop does not have OpenGL 3.3+ like my own PC doesn't, you can use LZDoom instead, which is a legacy GZDoom fork with most of the same features, with the only caveats being mostly a lack of the visual features like post processing effects when running it on an OpenGL 2.1 system. Not being able to run L/GZDoom is only an issue if you have a REALLY bad computer like I do, which runs vanilla Doom in LZDoom at 60-70 FPS on a window, or at 20-40 FPS on a maximized window. ^^^^^ People often seem to think that to use UDMF, you must spam every GZDoom feature in every room, like reflective floors/ceilings, mirrors, portals, 3D floors, dynamic lights, large and complex ACS scripts etc. But you can still make maps like the ones in other formats, but with features and the like that would be really hard or straight up impossible to add in a Boom format map for example, like 3D floors. Not every UDMF or GZDoom map needs to be a tech demo. While de jure, UDMF isn't just the (G)ZDoom namespace. In practice it IS the (ZD)oom (M)ap (F)ormat, as the most popular ports to support it and the ones most UDMF maps are made for are Zandronum and GZDoom, while non-ZDoom derivatives like Eternity and K8Vavoom support it and have their own namespaces, they are less know by a huge margin, and AFAIK there's not even that many UDMF maps specifically for them, unlike GZDoom, where basically any map for it specifically is in UDMF. Same goes for Zandronum mostly, but IIRC, DiHF is also still a popular format for Zandronum.

    Discussion About Realm667

Well I myself have sent 83 original ZIP files I had saved on my downloads folder and never deleted over the years to Arlene. And my own two submissions obviously. I could send all that too you too if you want. Also is Blue Shadow aware of all this shit yet ?

Yeah. Daniel has made sure to take down the whole site but not the BoA page lol

    Discussion About Realm667

Oi, this is the end of eera innit bruv ? More seriously, it certainly seems to be that, thankfully Arlene and some other people have come together to recover as much of the repository as possible. SGTMKIV is too with a groupp of people I think, but it's probably a diffferent one from Arlene. I myself just hope the whole repository will be recovered, and will be added to a new and better one, which will also accept DeHackEd, DEHEXTRA, DECORATE, ZScript, EDF, VavoomC, ACTORDEF etc submissions (In separate categories obviously.). Hopefully it also won't have the stupid no PK3 submission rule Realm667 did until I managed to change Tormentors' mind. It's 100% intentional, besides the timing of it happening shortly after the drama, the whole site besides the BoA page also went down apperantly right after Daniel was banned from this forum. EDIT: Looks like 2 other people said that last one before me lol.

    Repository Dump [temp mirror added]

Here are the links to the two submissions I made to Realm667, of the parallaxing camera and tank. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1rdoqY-MlMCX0-xGZDLbsO-G8zX7wwOVV/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/15owP9c8LSSHKiLwoi-2640XnJahpxs4K/view?usp=sharing Also you should probably be more specific on what the thread is about for people looking at it in the future. Also I've got a bunch of other R667 resources I've downloaded over the years, but I'm not sure which ones were edited by me with minor changes (Mostly), and which are still the original. I still have the original ZIP archives some of the submissions came in though, is there any place to post all that besides here ? EDIT: I already contacted Arlene and send her my 83 original Realm667 submissions that I had lying on my downloads folder.

    Discussion About Realm667

Well I'm still here, and will be very willing to contribute to a new repository for the reasons I mentioned in the last page, so I can send the files for the parallaxing sky camera and main battle tank. At least I can if I can get in contact with the people working on scavenging Realm667, also holy shit this thread is going really fast and I can barely keep up with it.

    Discussion About Realm667

Yeah those are about the last few submissions from before the site was shut down, the vacuum-like weapon you are thinking off may have been the very last submission, which IIRC was some kind of thunder gun. Also that sky camera is mine lol, based on code by DrPyspy.

    Discussion About Realm667

The Wayback Machine archives are pretty damn old, if you go to the repository itself on it. The last snapshot was from before my tank submission was accepted like 2 months ago, which also obviously means that the next 4-6 submissions before the site's closure are not archived on the Wayback Machine, which is pretty bad IMO.

    Discussion About Realm667

Well now at least it's basically focused on what we'll do if Daniel keeps Realm667 closed for good. I think I've got some of the ZIP archives from some of the resources I download from there still around. I've also got a bunch of the WADs from there archived, but I'm not sure which ones are the originals and which ones have changes I've made myself, such as adding editor numbers, changing some syntax etc. Where can I we join that ?

    Discussion About Realm667

So I guess he just did all this without giving any warning to you and Blue Shadow then ? Well shit. Same, plus I had began contributing assets to the repository like my MBT (Whose render is my current avatar by the way.), with full proper code written for it, to also try to remove this idea of R667 only being as useful as the sound and sprite assets its' submissions have, due to the code in it being in major dissaray formatting wise and just insanely outdated in general, like that one submission that legit used pre-2008 DECORATE code.
