    weird and people used to recommand glboom+ so much since it can run wads like nuts im not so sure now ;p maybe gzdoom IS the best..hmm and i have nvidia gpu

    thanks i guess i could of just googled or went to wiki lol but yeah thx makes sense a buddy of mine likes zdoom over gzdoom not sure why since zdoom is software only then prboom is too and people love it hmm

  10. nice :) it seems that most people like it classic most of the time which i do too!! also what is your fav source port for classic wads? mine's prboom+ and gzdoom for mods... i recently started playing all the doom games again i just finished ultimate doom,about to start doom 2,only thing is for doom 2016 and doom eternal i have to play that on my ps4 pro sinece my gpu in my pc is only a gtx 1050 ti lol but thats ok the new doom's feels actually really good on a gamepad

Hey guys, i just noticed my prboom+ is not using my vsync i have it on in my nvidia panel and its not working ingame also when i go to options there is no settings for vsync either on prboom+ but i dont want my card to use all that power for nothing since i just got a 60hz monitor i just want to cap it at 60.. any solution? how do you guys cap it with prboom? edit:hmm weird vsync is present in the glboom+ but not prboom+ lol weird guess ill use glboom+ for now untill i figure it out
  12. now since we are talking a lot about classic ;p what are some great classic style wads? are the hell revealed wads for classic play? i havent tried those yet i heard it was really good what about ancient aliens and alien vandetta? is that preffered with classic settings?

    Zdoom runs great im getting over 100 fps with latest sdl and playing thru retropie.. Id like to try gzdoom in soft render but i have no idea how to compile, im very new at this
  16. Hey all, I have this idea of buying a raspberry pi and making a doom project out of it.. My question is what are the best source ports to use and which port gives the best performance? Im not really into weapon mods but i do want to play different wads... So anyone here play doom on the pi and what port you use the most? Also does it play really well no frame drops? Thanks guys!
  17. I have a question That i like to know more about Whats the difference between zdoom and gzoom? I know zdoom is cpu render and gzdoom is opengl but doesnt that mean that gzdoom is less performance heavy? I guess thats not true because zdoom runs on the raspberry pi 3 over 100fps but gzdoom doesnt run at all very choppy so seems confusing so zdoom is less performance heavy then? Doesnt make sense haha Also is Zdoom still a decent port to use now a days? I see some people prefer it over gzdoom but why? Isnt it outdated??? And same thing with prboom and prboom plus.. Prboom runs great on the pi again or computers with very little specs but prboom plus needs more power. Do people even use the old prboom still?? I wish there was tech savy dude out there somewhere who could make a dedicated doom port just for ARM cpus.. cuz currently thats where i have been dooming on but on older ports :( seems like no one cares to update it If you check retropie forums theres alot of us doomers on the pi but i guess old ports are good enough for them just dont get why its capable of newer ports if some one works on it ... Anyways sorry long post mainly just curious of the difference and why people prefer the older one over the newer

    No not at all im not a diffecult person i just want a port that plays as smooth as zdoom aka 60fps and that is updated and not 10years old port... Ports like chocolate doom just hurts my eyes i no longer can stand the sluggish feel of that.. I dont care what the ports do to the maps.. But i do want to play the classics like hell revealed etc..

    True im not really looking for mods but i do want to play level wads that people have created i also like my gameplay vanilla style but doesnt updated ports give better performance?? I mean prboom is 9 years old.. If it was updated it could run even better but no one seems to care for pi at least.. I guess ill just keep it prboom and zdoom because i dont knowexchange how to compile from source im a linux noob and prboom and zdoom are both easily to install by just click of a button.. Unless someone tells me step by step how to compile prboom plus or zandronum or gzdoom or something :p

    Ah ok i guess im limited to zdoom then on the pi it does run great tho.. I heard prboom+ works on there too id have to look into it not sure how it all works yet but thanks for the info Zdoom pretty much inferior to gzdoom or are they both similar with exeption one uses hardware accelaration?

    Yeah exactly but ive been used to 60fps or above for years now cause of gzdoom and zandronum so id like to keep it at that.. I think zdoom might be my best bet but its outdated am i rly the only one who wants a dedicated source port for the pi and that is regularly updated??cause prboom and zdoom both that are in retropie are rly old.. Maybe i should go raspbian if that makes difference so i can get other ports maybe?

    So far i found zdoom and prboom the best but they are outdated and no longer being updated... Im trying to get prboom-plus working not having much luck Chocolate doom runs at vanilla fps which is 35fps i kind of find it slow im looking for a 60fps experience.. Which zdoom does it great im even getting over 100fps with the sdl2 drivers but like i said old engine :( my quest to find the best port continues
