    Quake 4 teaser trailer

At the bottom of that page there are Public Server mirror links which you don't need to be registered to download from. Whether or not you get high speed download i'm not sure.

    Quake 4 teaser trailer

Try running it in other media players. I have all the latest versions of the main media players installed like Windows Media Player, Real Player, DivX Player and even Winamp's Media Player and they ran the trailer fine.
  3. AVI format and only runs for 14 seconds (1.4MB) List of download mirrors: http://www.3dgamers.com/dlselect/games/quake4/quake_4-teaser.avi.html
  4. If the ultimate First Person Shooter was to be designed what would you like to see in it? Of course the obvious things like graphics physics, sound etc make a game more appealing but what would you put in a FPS game? For example: Multiple pathways (less linear) More destructible enviroments.
  5. You obviously watched the 13 minute demo. The shots of the little girl roaming around causing chaos adds a nice eary feel to the game.

    Do you believe in God?

I think the Bible states that God has always been. God created time and space. God is a spiritual entity. He exists outside of the three-dimensional, physical world in which we live. God has always been. He not only began time; He will also end it. When time ends, all matter and all mankind will enter eternity—a timeless condition free of the negative things that time brings upon us now. When asked “Who or what created God?,” we are making the assumption that God was created. If God exists outside of time and space, and if He is the Creator of time and space, He obviously was not created! God began the beginning! This is why He says, “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.” The above was taken from this site: http://www.doesgodexist.org/Phamplets/WhoCreatedGod/WhoCreatedGod.html Here's another site that explains it: http://www.christiananswers.net/q-aig/aig-c039.html It's actually interesting reading. It does raise this question though: How can God just exist? You can believe in things or not and that's why we ask these questions because we don't really know so all we can do is believe.
  7. I did a search and didn't notice any previous threads so sorry if this has already been posted. This game is not out yet. F.E.A.R is a first person shooter being developed by Monolith the makers of the No One Lives Forever games (NOLF, NOLF 2). F.E.A.R - First Encounter Assault and Recon The story begins as an unidentified paramilitary force infiltrates a multi-billion dollar aerospace compound. The government responds by sending in Special Forces, but loses contact as an eerie signal interrupts radio communications. When the interference subsides moments later, the team has been literally torn apart. As part of a classified strike team created to deal with threats no one else can handle, your mission is simple: Eliminate the intruders at any cost. Determine the origin of the signal. And contain this crisis before it spirals out of control. Below are some links to screenshots, teaser trailer (gives a small glimpse of the game), demo movie (13 minute single player game footage) and a multiplayer trailer. There is a list of mirrors to download from for each file. Looks like it could be very entertaining. If you are able to, download and watch the 13 minute SP trailer, it's quite interesting. There is alot of blood and gore effects and it seems to be more of a run and gun game but hopefully the story is good. The MP seems to be the usual DM, TDM Soldier of Fortune Style. 8. Yes a refreshing change is good. For arguments sake would gamers have wished Doom 3 was like it is now if it was released whereby the only difference was the new engine - graphics, physics, 3D, ai etc and the rest was just a rehash of Doom and Doom 2 (run and gun, hordes of monsters, secrets, keys etc) with new level designs of course?
  9. I haven't really played Doom 3 because my PC isn't up to scratch and i'd prefer to play it in decent detail but ive had a short go on my friends PC and enjoyed it. Anyway adding a few new creatures in was nice but do you think it was neccessary for ID to redesign all the old creatures? The lost souls design hadn't really changed, some creatures are similar and many others nicely redesigned and I do like the new pinky demon. One wonders though how cool it would have been to see "every" creature from Doom and Doom 2 designed exactly how we originally saw them except in 3D utilising the Doom 3 technology. I know they were trying to ad a fresh angle to the game by making it dark, scary and more interactive but just to see the exact designs of the creatures in Doom 3 that we are used to seeing would probably have given you a bit more of a "Now this is Doom" feeling, not to say its a bad game how it is.

    Doom 3's Lighting

I haven't read much information on Doom 3 but is the way the lighting is done supposed to be a new advancement in lighting technology ie real time lighting and is it something to do with per pixel shading? D3 and HL2 both look great and im not trying to start a this is better than that war but to me unless its because of all the indoor setup but Doom 3s lighting looks much better than Half Life 2 which seems to just have the usual lighting effects you see in alot of current games.

    Worried about Doom 3

Yeah its probably unlikley that random monster placement would be in Doom 3 but it is probably possible. For example, there could be monster A, B and C that you fight in a certain area. Next time you play that area, you would still fight monster A, B and C in the same area but they start in different spots. This wouldn't have any effect on restrictions like number of visible mosters at a time because there are still only 3 of them in that area and it would probably just be setup with 3 monsters, 10 possible starting points and the monsters randomly start in one of the 10 points. While you would eventually get used to the random spots, it is still far better than having one and only one spot that they start at because it would force you to cover yourself since they may or may not be at that spot making the game more interesting. Now, if there was random placement of monsters as stated above, then they could probably also do random monster type. For example you could have imps, demons and lost souls allocated to an area with the 10 possible spawn points so one time a demon, imp and lost soul spawns, then the next time 2 demons and an imp could spawn or 3 imps. While it probabably isnt possible any random placements or monsters will be implemented because there are probably issues such as different pathing for each monster etc but it would be a nice feature. If it ends up just being set positions and monsters, this isnt a bad thing because aslong as its entertaining, thats what counts. Take a look at the original Dooms, not randomness there but they were damn entertaining. I agree. Some scripted events and cutscenes are nice but to many is probably a bad thing because they eventually become boring, stale and yeah seen it before. Thats what I didnt really like about Half Life. The first time you see the scripted event or cutscene its ok but having to go through it over and over again if you had to restart, just got annoying. That was the beauty of the Dooms and Quake. Straight forward entertainment with the run and gun and the odd trap and secret to find. Ahh yes, secret areas are a nice touch. I havent played the Dooms for a while but they had secrets if im not mistaken and the same as Quake and because they were entertaining to play, the secrets offered good replay value because I found myself running through the levels again blasting monsters so I could find all the secrets.

    Worried about Doom 3

I agree totally. I hope they dont totally stuff up Doom 3 and make it too interactive like Half Life was. If Doom 3 can stay similar to what Doom offered but enhance the atmosphere which looks like it has then im happy, aslong as it doesnt completely side track. The best thing about Doom was straight forward running and gunning and I dont think you really need all this interactivity like Half Life had because what Doom offered was simple, it worked, had a good atmosphere and was damn fun.

    ... Scary?

I remember reading one story from someone that sat in on the Doom 3 preview at E3. He was talking about a scene when the Marine was walking down a dark hall and there was movement in the pipes then suddenly a monster rips out of the pipes and starts mauling the marine. Apparently a female sitting near him freaked out or something. As some people already said, its the placement of monsters or the ability to hit you unexpectantly to try scare you. Doom 3 definately looks like it'll have a spooky atmosphere which will try push the fear factor on what monster will be around the next corner or where one will strike from. Im sure there will be fear in some people playing the game and others will fear nothing. I remember jumping out of my seat in one stage in Doom 2. I entered an area and suddenly a hidden door opened and that monster that resurrects other monsters suddenly appears along with the noise it makes and flames me.
