    hmm...sometimes I hope that we are not expecting too much. I mean, there are so much good ideas... The engine will be amazing, but I read a lot of cool stuff that I would like to see in the game. From weapon ideas over story possibilities, over how swimming should be, blabla....enemies, items, HUD....shit we've discussed everything ':|

    If someone want to hear something about Dolby... Dolby 5.1 is "Dolby Digital": It consists of 5.1 channels - front left, front right, center surround left, surround right, and an additional channel exclusively reserved for additional deep bass sound effects the 0.1 channel(up to 120Hz if I remember correctly). Unlike analog Dolby Surround and Dolby Pro logic Surround Dolby Digital's main channels can all contain full range sound information. The signals within each channel are distinct from the others allowing pinpoint sound imaging free from noise and distortion. Dolby Pro Logic: Sources recorded in Dolby Surround are sources on which surround signals (three or four channels) are recorded onto two channels using Surround encoding technology. Dolby Pro Logic is a multi-channel playback system which decodes those Surround encoded channels into four channels (left, center, right and surround (the surround channel is monaural but played through two speakers)). With Dolby Pro Logic's digital signal processing, channels with higher signal levels of the different channels of the source recorded in Dolby Surround are monitored, channels with higher signal levels are emphasized and the level of other channels is decreased in order to reinforce the directivity and achive an effective surround sound. Dolby Theater Surround: 5.1 like DPL, but the channels are fully independent recorded, eleminating the risk of deterioration of sound quality due to interference between signals. The contra is that it needs a very high data rate with a low compression. DTS is used in movie theatres and often there is a seperate CDR synchronized with the film played. ok...my finger hurts. I permanently had to look into my ger-eng dictonary because of spelling...I hope I've written the most things correct.

    Hmm, whenever I have saved some money and I want to buy something for my PC there is the question : Graphic Card? - bwwww....yeah I want this sweet GeForce Ram? - What the hell? Soooo cheap? CPU? - Who needs a good CPU to play games? HD? - Hmm, I should delete some old crap... 17" Monitor? - Better small and fast than big and slow So I still have my 15" too and I fear that there is nothing that could change that at this time. I mean, when Doom comes out I want to play it and I don't want to view a 17" slide show ;) But, aww who cares...

    You could use ZDoom, Legacy, Edge, jDoom or whatever.... They're all working under Win2k and it doesn't hurt to get a few visual improvements ;)

    That's right, there would be such an option, but I don't think that there could be both : good music AND good ambient sounds. I think if there is music, ambience would be a bit too secondary.... Thanks :). The last that I wanted is to think that you suck !

    Uhmm...a good athmosphere also can be created by ambient sounds. Ambient sound coul'd also mean some kind of music. There are enough films making a scary athmosphere only with some strange noises in the background. I got the 'music idea' more like something "play the song and repeat it" Intelligent use of ambient noises would be much better in my opinion. Remember Quake 3, they're playing some kind of music at different locations, I don't think something like that would be wrong... IF there is music, it should be no song that you want to hear when you're not playing Doom because it should only fit to the specific map in Doom. Otherwise it misses its goal. Sorry if I hurt your personal feelings dsm, but its just MY opinion !

    Hey, it would be cool if the DooMguy could stumble about something like a chair or so... Imagine...you're running backwards through a small corridor, only 4 shells left, a big enemy is approaching you...but you forgot that step behind you...you're falling and possibly loosing your gun...bla bla bla hmm, maybe something like that is a little bit out of place in a game like doom...

    Disappearing bodies would be bad, but isn't it too much extra poly count if there are 20 or 50 bodys are lying throughout the map ? Maybe that it would help to decrease the detail-level of the dead carracters depending on how long they are dead or so...
