SIGIL v1.21 - New Romero megawad [released!]

Pretty much. The main .wad is freely available and therefore is not counted as part of the transaction, which allows you to skirt around the licencing.

Whilst I kind of agree...LRG isn't doing us a favour. We're paying customers and being told they're expecting to send out the remaining orders "in the next few months" is simply unacceptable. Putting aside the fact that they have been silent at every step of the way (John was basically single handedly doing their customer service for them) they actually have the boxes in their possession now. They can't use the excuse of production delays anymore. This wouldn't be such an issue if LRG took the money at the time of shipment...but they don't, they take it months in advance and at this point people can't even cancel, they're locked into waiting god knows how long for their boxes. Like I said, simply unacceptable. If I'm being brutally honest it makes LRG look like a bunch of cowboys.

Agreed, LRG's reputation is extremely poor in this area and there are other small publishers who specialise in this kind of stuff. If his tweets prior about asking them to update customers is anything to go by though John is not unaware as to how horrific an experience this has been. This was my first time using LRG...and it will be my last. Honestly I'm surprised they sent your standard box without the beast box. I've read horror stories of people having to wait months and months for something already released to even ship because LRG insisted on sending their entire order in one lump and one of the items got delayed repeatedly, delaying shipment of everything.

    Pffft...what a casual. A real purist would play it on a 486.

My standard box arrived today. The artwork is fuckin' great. To unseal, or not to unseal, that is the question.

Gmanlives also completed it on UV. Doesn't mean I think his points are valid. Fundamentally it sounds like you wanted a different experience than the one Sigil has (or was ever going to have) to offer. That's fine but don't push your opinions on how it should be onto everyone else, some of whom like it just fine the way it is. I for one am happy to see some more oldschool Romero content.

He's said the reception has been incredible...so...Half Life 3 DOOM 2 wad confirmed?

I wasn't. If I had to guess though I'd say it'll arrive in the next day or so which would make it around a week and a half from the shipping email to actually getting it in my hands.

Nah. I live in the UK though so it took its sweet ass time before even entering the country. Now it's in the hands of Hermes, who I suspect will deliver it safely onto my roof. Remember, it only looks like he's carelessly throwing your package without paying any attention to what he's doing.

Your only chance is to keep your eye on eBay and be prepared to pay colossal bucks on a whim. That standard big box you linked to the other day sold rather quickly for $130.

The days when hardware looked drastically different from software are thankfully behind us...if the right settings are used. Unfortunately, as of now, out of the box GZDoom defaults to Dark sector light mode, which is one of the big culprits, and I get the impression most people don't bother to change it to Software, which looks pretty much exactly like the software renderer.

Spent the time ages ago to set up a bat file that auto applies certain changes on a fresh ini, among them is switching to Software light mode. Didn't even know Vanilla existed until now. Maybe it's just on my machine but switching back and forth between the software and hardware renderers Software actually comes closer to the lighting in the software renderer. Vanilla's light fall off is just too harsh resulting in dark areas being significantly darker, where Software is very, very, very close to actual software lighting.

What a steal! It's only...3.75x the original price!

There's 2 discs is there not? I know one of them is supposed to contain the WADs too but it is actually possible to have redbook audio alongside a data track (see PS1 DOOM). Still, it's nice to know the lossless versions are provided in some form. I can always burn it but I'm just a little disappointed I can't pop the official CD with its nice artwork in a CD player I guess.
