    E3M4 progress

I haven't been able to do much mapping as of late but I figured I should post something of what progress has been made. Here's a imgur gallery of the quick screens I took and a DL of the current map. The sections that aren't accessible haven't been touched as of yet, except line tags, items, and monster removal ect, but might give an idea of what was originally intended. The map was no where near complete when I restarted so forgive the 90's/00's-ish styling. I have run it through plain jane prdoom, and didn't come across problems. Any comments/idea welcome. http://imgur.com/a/SqUjo#0 EDIT: Removed old link

Okey Dokey! I did have a version like that but I guess I thought the 'exit' text wasn't really wanted, i.e. something different instead. /me searches then just rebuilds it. EDIT: Slightly different versions.

    E3M4 progress

Don't commit that! lol It's done yet not. I just sent it thinking you wanted a look at the progress thus far. No exit, plus unfinished and/ or unstarted areas. hehe hmm name... Haunt of Agony? Assuming E3 will be hellish named levels fyi: Originally, back in the day, it was called Spud's House of Pain, but that won't work here.

Well poop. I emailed you a copy. pm me if you want it then I guess. I really don't feel like setting up and ftp server. Not gonna do those other file send spaces thingies. blech.

Looks like exit signs have either 'EXIT' or an arrow pointing in the direction intended or both. But not neither, so it kinda limits what you can do with it. One can assume that in RL the signs are ordered to fit the situation especially in case of the arrows. So it's mostly likely they would have to be 'EXIT' or an arrow pointing somewhere. Again I think the level language should be able to tell the player where the exit is and the sign is just a marker/reminder that says "Hey! The level exit door is right here!" I mean if an arrow pointing to the right confuses a player when the door is literally right in front of them then I don't know... At any rate I'll continue tweaking and see what I can come up with. Might make a new post for it though, instead of hijacking soda's thread.

hmm the mega link seems to be working fine here. I stopped using dropbox, so that one is kaput. Should have removed it earlier.

    E3M4 progress

Thanks. Yeah, I played through it and took another look at those parts and kinda "hmmm"ed about it. I wanted to do the skin ropes one in those but the texture looks blech. Kinda working on that too btw.

    E3M4 progress

Woof. Been a bit eh? Got a bit more done on the map then kinda forgot about it for a while. But here is what I have currently. Not finished (obviously) but getting closer. I loaded it up again and started to rethink the newest section. Perhaps shrinking it up a bit maybe, ect. Still not to sure about adding a "hell cave" area or not as it might start to become a tad long. Anyways, helpful comments and/or suggestions welcome. https://mega.co.nz/#!iccCnIbK!LXYUmRtuKl7yrRY_Q6u0UAyb7P5pPvC5QkRNtPnGqcU

You can the use the exit door texture as well. I popped through Doom 1 and the exits in Inferno usually have a tech type exit room. Besides, by the time you get to the exit it should be pretty obvious that it is an exit. Plus the language of the levels design can also tell the player where is exit is located. You know, the three key locked gate in front of the giant tower ect.. A 32x16 texture lends itself to simplicity rather than complexity.

Congrats, man... Five laps ahead of me and still running proud. Just be sure not to sidestrafe when running those laps - we run fast enough as it is when it comes to reaching that final destination.

    Episode 3 maps

Been digging through some unfinished maps from way back and decided to finish a couple of them to help fill up empty E3 slots. E3M4 & E3M5 maybe? I like the music in those. If that's peachy, any notes about the look (heavy hellish ect ect) would be great. The first one is mostly wood with red rock/marble areas and a tech-ish finishing area. The second one is actually a Doom 2 map I'm converting over from an unrealized project, it currently is a brick castle type map.
