    Wrack launches on Steam!

Meh, never played either one. I really didn't like Duck Tales (the cartoon) and never got the game back in the day, seemed to childish I guess. That and fuck disney. Another World didn't grab my attention for some reason.

    DOOM RETRO v1.0 released

Interesting. The "fixed" text looks great, and the randomly flipped death animations spice things up a bit. Now, add opl support and then we're talk'n.

    John Carmack Leaves id Software

Well, seems like John Carmack, "Our Fearless Leader", has decided to leave id for greener pastures. I wanted to remain a technical adviser for Id, but it just didn't work out. Probably for the best, as the divided focus was challenging. Right before the 20th anniversary of Doom. Kinda sad. Good luck John! Story via Kotaku.

I'm happy with that actually. So my mind just envisions a few stationary player gun turret and aiming the turret at things. I see the crosshairs now. This could work.

Are there points? I think a game like this needs points and a time. You completed the stage / wave in 30 seconds can you beat your time? Even Doom had percentage :-)

I'll give this a whirl when it becomes available.

Currently there is a wave progression type mode and an endless mode among the three stages and you will be able to choose between the fixed and moving "cannon".
      Points and achievements as well.
There would have been four stages but in the sake of hoping for a release before halloween, it's at three. Future updates will bring more stuff in of course.

Well I've finished rebuilding it Gamemaker: Studio and gave it a bit more spit and polish.

Gez: I actually did rename it to Duck Rush. Kept the original price though. ;)

Still nothing to overly excited about but hey it's better than it was before.
Plus here's the last of the promo codes for 3.0. They should still work. if not, I can whip up a few more if demand calls for it.... hahaaaaaa...

I learned a lot making that damn thing. Granted it was made using GML and not a proper language at least I can say I coded something. Hopefully by the time I'm done with the two I'm working on right now, I'll have learned enough from studying to move on to python at the very least.

    Todd Hollenshead Leaves id Software

It would appear that El Presidente of id has decided to leave the company. To quote from Shacknews: After many years with the studio, Todd Hollenshead decided to leave id Software to pursue other personal interests," Bethesda VP Pete Hines told IGN. "While Todd was not part of the development teams, he was an integral part of id Software's success as the business head of the studio and we wish him the very best in his future endeavors. Good luck!

Doom 2 The Way id Did [Final Beta Released!]

Back to the matter at hand folks! Map12: While, yes, the brown sludge is damaging in D2 I think that given the large amount of it in this map an exception could be made. Nice map. Map13: Good map, but not quite fitting the theme of the original. Map14: While more compact than The Inmost Dens, I am really liking this one. While I do miss the openness, I dare say that I might actually like this one better then the original. Dun dun DUUUH!! Map15: Theme wise, this should have been map13. Why the music change? d_runnin isn't that bad. It does get a tad long, but I'll chalk that up to being a new map and not knowing it very well. Also 15 was never this hectic. This one verges on slaughter map territory. Note: The switch to lower the left lift on the Computer Map island is redundant, since you can just skooch around the torch and reach it that way. Unless that was intentional. Otherwise, solid map. Map16: Seems to be a decent map, but it completely misses the mark for me. Feels more like the inmost dens than the current map14. Again the map is good, no issues really, but seems like somebody's throwing poor Sandy under a bus here. Map17: Love it, even more than the original. Don't know what else to say really. Excellent map. Map18: Ok, I had to give this one another go. Rather than ranting and blarghing, I'll just say while I like it, I am torn about this one. :) Map19: I love the underground/buried city block look and feel. I though it might be a wee bit to complicated but after remembering the original, maybe not. Thumbs up. Ok I'm doom'd out for now. Back later. Infamous eh? "Keep on Doom'n!"

Doom 2 The Way id Did [Final Beta Released!]

Ok, ok, calm the heck down people. Bad mood + boredom = Over reacting = Meh. Anyway, I'm replaying and am currently up to map12. Will finish the rest tomorrow. While I'm still not convinced at the epic god status that others are proclaiming, it is growing on me. However that being said so far I have a few notes. Map01: Looks slightly better than a dwango map. No map01 vibe at all. Map02: Better than map01, but still not getting the feels. Map03: A bit more complex/detailed than the original but tasty. Map04: Good map but once again too detailed/complex. Plus it doesn't come close to capturing the look/feel of the original. Revenants? Why so soon?. Map05: Lava bad. Bad! Map06: Solid map, but again a little much for so early on. Map07: Mancubi and Arachnotrons shouldn't be together. So sayeth the lord! ;) Feels more like Doom 1 than anything. Plus the Mastermind is a bit much no? Map08: Speaking of Doom 1... Map09: Needs to be a little smaller maybe? Not bad. Map10: I like it. Map11: Not quite the same vibe but good map. Map12: Need to go through it yet, but why is all the brown Water damaging? Really? Seems to have the right vibe though. Conclusions so far... Mostly decent maps so far, but lacking in the original Doom 2 vibe/feel. Will report back tomorrow. With 98.3% less meh!

Doom 2 The Way id Did [Final Beta Released!]

I say meh because that is my exact opinion on this. A few of the maps are good. The majority though... Meh.
