I'm happy with that actually. So my mind just envisions a few stationary player gun turret and aiming the turret at things. I see the crosshairs now. This could work.
Are there points? I think a game like this needs points and a time. You completed the stage / wave in 30 seconds can you beat your time? Even Doom had percentage :-)
I'll give this a whirl when it becomes available. -

Currently there is a wave progression type mode and an endless mode among the three stages and you will be able to choose between the fixed and moving "cannon".
Points and achievements as well.
There would have been four stages but in the sake of hoping for a release before halloween, it's at three. Future updates will bring more stuff in of course.

Well I've finished rebuilding it Gamemaker: Studio and gave it a bit more spit and polish.
Gez: I actually did rename it to Duck Rush. Kept the original price though. ;)
Still nothing to overly excited about but hey it's better than it was before.
Plus here's the last of the promo codes for 3.0. They should still work. if not, I can whip up a few more if demand calls for it.... hahaaaaaa...

I learned a lot making that damn thing. Granted it was made using GML and not a proper language at least I can say I coded something. Hopefully by the time I'm done with the two I'm working on right now, I'll have learned enough from studying to move on to python at the very least. -

Edit: Parents came back from the hospital and said it was this morning.
Tuesday is the funeral, so yeah. I'll probably re-edit with thoughts, ect. -
And now for something completely different.
Welp, I've been slowly tinkering away at game creation over the last year or so, and final got a little something up over at Apple and wanted to give it a share.
Duck Rush, just a simple little game I hammered out in about a week or so. Just got an update approved so yay there.
Give it a look if you are so inclined for something non complicated.

It's no doom clone or even whatever the genre of the week is, but it's something floating out in that vast ocean of apps from which one can be plucked.- Show previous comments 9 more

Based on what you wrote, you're obscenely overcharging for this.
It's on the Apple store. If anything, he's obscenely undercharging for this, and robbing the customers from their true money-spending experience.
Rename it iDuckRush and treble the price, so that it is more worthy of being an app for an Apple platform. -
An android version won't be possible since I lack an android phone. Hell, I don't even have an iphone for that matter. $10 Trac-phone for the win!
Just a 3rd and 4th gen ipod touch and an ipad 1.
It was originally made in about week with Stencyl, which says leaps about ones coding skills. But you have to start again somewhere. Doesn't matter anyway, I've jumped off the ship and swam over to gamemaker and learning real languages as well.
As far as putting on Cydia or whatever there is now, no thanks. For me anyway jailbreaking offers me nothing I want or need. For that matter neither does having a android or iphone either. Just more bills and headaches I'd rather not deal with.
This was a testing of the app store process more than anything, so I'm not worried about what platforms it is on. Besides, why not?
And yes if you want your stuff to be on and stay on the app store it's $100 a year.
Unless there is some magical way that I've never heard of. :P
If you want to give to a free look see anyway here's a few promo codes.

I was wondering if anybody (mostly likely old-schoolers) might have a couple of my old wads stashed away somewhere. In particular I am looking for my old Rhea1 and Rhea2 wads.
I've been digging around the house looking for some old backup disks and have turned up nil. I think I have copies on my old comp but that's buried deep in storage so nuts to that.
Might give 'em a spit and polish for the hell of it.
Maybe a shellacking for good measure. -
It was a good year.
Plus randomly bumped into Dave Taylor and heard a interesting story about Trent Reznor and John Carmack.
Yeah, it was a good year.

Okey dokey...
I was looking for someone at a camp (Fandango!!!!) and wandered into the bar they had set up and kinda crashed there for a hour or so. When one of the bartenders was at the bar, I asked if so-and-so had arrived yet, he didn't know so I got a drink and chilled for a bit while he continued talking to another patron.
I can't remember the conversation that had drawn me over to them but we started chatting about what they did and the bartender (Matt) mentioned he had worked in the games industry for a bit and then the person he was talking too said he was in the industry. We asked what he had worked on and he said "doom and quake"
Ok, so now my eyes grew wide as tires and then I asked his name and had to turn around and take a breath to avoid hyperventilating. I tried my best not to go all fanboy on him.
I won't repeat the story he told about Trent and John, but it involved a party and beautiful woman.
He did say he was working a new version of Karateka, and talked about some of the things were were doing with it and it sounded damn cool.
Then a stable tightly packed dust devil formed outside the camp and Matt and Dave giddily ran out to stand inside in arms waving like kids. I never saw him again, but I assume he used his super powers to ride the cyclone off to another part of the playa.
Now if I had only taken a picture with him.... ARAARGH!!!!
Matt did take a couple pictures which might pop up sooner or later.
Very interesting and laid back guy.
Also by good year I meant it was a good burn. my bad.

One of my cousins had his wedding today and volunteered to help out in the kitchen with food prep and what not. So that went well and tasty eats were had by all. After the that was all done, I decided to head out and hopping in my jeep.
I noticed that the cord from the cassette deck adapter was strung across the passenger seat. That odd I though also noticing the Belkin charger was missing from the power port. "Hmmm" I thought to myself as I opened the center armrest and saw my iPod was also missing.
Pissed.
Called the police and one promptly pulled up. Gave my info and yada yada yada.
I of course hold no high hopes of ever seeing my precious 60gb 5th gen iPod Video ever again, but one can dream.
At the least the woman in charge of the kitchen was a smoking hottie, so that helps I guess.

Well for some reason I decided to hook up my rig to my 27 lcd tv and use that as my monitor instead of my good old 18' Trinitron. I've done this before using several nvidia cards and it always seems to flake out and never look quite right.
However, this HD3850 seems to be running just peachy so far. I might need to do a little tweaking yet but so far.. yum.
1366 x 768 is the max res alas. It "can" go higher but it gets squishy ect ect.
The big thing is though, is the space on my desk now. Glorious I say.
Bonus: Moved my PS3 over next the 'puter in the lower printer spaces.
No more DishTV though. meh.

I have a semi-similar setup, except I use a computer monitor as my television in that I have all of my major game consoles hooked up to it. I've got a 21" Samsung SyncMaster with both VGA and DVI inputs on it.
For the most part it's a pretty pain-free setup. My 360 is hooked up using the official VGA cable Microsoft has been ever so kind to supply, and my PS3 and computer hooked up via DVI. The PS3 was a tad bit complicated to get working, as I had to ghetto-rig a custom setup as Sony is too lame to supply a VGA/DVI cable for the damn system. I use a DVI-HDMI converter for the video, and then I have to keep the standard composite audio/video cable hooked up to the PS3 solely for sound, which I then route to the audio-in jack on my computer (so I can have my speakers work with my PC and PS3 at the same time without having to switch cables or anything) using a RCA-3.5mm converter. Works great, as my monitor displays 1080p just fine.
On a semi-related note, the PS3 kicks some major ass for a media center setup. The ability to actually copy music and video over from a network computer (something I had hoped for but was lacking in the 360) is totally awesome. I've never found streaming to be particularly good on either console (always get lag and random dropouts in playback), so it's awesome that the PS3 allows you to copy media directly to the playstation. My only problem is the relatively cumbersome way of actually organizing stuff once you've copied it over. Other than that, it's pretty great. -
I have tried to do that, but with a PS2.
My 24" SyncMaster has VGA, DVI and HDMI inputs. The idea being that I can use my PC on the DVI, and my PS2 on the VGA via an RCA-to-VGA converter box I'd previously been using when I had two 17" LCDs. However something about the VGA signaling doesn't agree with this monitor, so anything going thru the converter box ends up skipping and unwatchable. Fail.
I guess if I ever bought a Wii/360/PS3 I could use the HDMI input, as I have an old-school standard def CRT TV hooked up to an XBMC-Box for watching TV shows, and no desire to upgrade TV.
One of the dudes at work has a PS3 and PSP. He rates highly the fact that you can stream media from the PS3 to the portable, even when away from home, as long as you have wifi.
For me, when something as open and simple as XBMC comes along, I'll have a reason to buy some new hardware. The poor little XBox finds it hard to keep up with modern HD formats. I think my best option at the moment is an LCD TV with DVI-in, a Mac Mini with Windows and XBMC on it and a USB remote control.

For some reason today I found it prudent to purchase a netbook. An Acer Asprire One.
1.60ghz
1gig ram
160hd
and a pain in the buttocks touch pad and keyboard.
But you get what you pay for right? ;)
Nifty little thing however. Should make my days a tad more productive.
Or not.
Runs Quake Live decently.
Doom ports seem just fine, although I don't think I'll try anything else to crazy on here.

I honestly don't know too much about netbooks, but I thought the whole appeal was with the 3G stuff. How easy is it to get a normal laptop to connect to it? Is it as easy as just putting in a card?
Some netbooks have a spot for a simcard, other laptops and PCs will accept a USB dongle which holds a simcard and has a 3G radio modem in it. Often these days, the USB 3G modem has a storage component (like a USB thumb drive) which stores some Windows software to get it working. The software may also come on a CD. Either way, your provider gives you an application in which you click "Connect" and you're on.
I configure these things in routers for a job, so I could waffle about technical specs but that's essentially it. Plug in USB, install software, click Connect. Instant internets anywhere.

I did a little work on it today might post that later on. Kinda putting off the second half.
Enjoy, or not. :)
EDIT: HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOOM!!! -
Just finished playing the 2 super-duper secret levels in MM2.
Never played them before. Second one was rather challenging. But that's me talking. -
Well this is just great. Once again my dear Trinitron is starting to flake out, this time I fear for the worst. Even as I type this post it's flickering and fading out like when it is changing resolutions. But like every 1-5 seconds. Naturally I would get a new one but since I'm moving in a few months and not taking my rig with me why bother.
Of course if it dies now no 'puter at all.
It's 7-8 (?) years old so I'm not really to surprised at this but it's still aggravating as all hell. I guess if it does finally decided to bite the bullet I'll be using the PS3 and DS for searching das tubes.
Should hinted at a new LCD for christmas instead...
Damn it...
P.S. Also got back from black friday shopping and the NIN show in Rapid.

the phosphorus layer in my crt has been slowly burning out for a couple years now. doomworld is completely black and games like doom3 are pretty much unplayable even though gamma is maxed out. I even had to download the adobe gamma manager cause my nvidia panel can't go up anymore without washing out everything. I'll be retiring it soon.I've been there, and back then I didn't even have a means of brightening it through the graphics card. At best what I could do was use a hacked COLORMAP to make DOOM more or less playable (outside engines that allow very high gamma settings). Eventually it also started getting blurry, which was intolerable.

Years before Red Bull got involved with this, there was footage from one on Blue Peter (Brit general interest/news/hobbies kids show thats been going for decades). The winning team's contraption was basically just a hang-glider, which i thought was cheating surely... but i suppose if they built it themselves it'd count. Then you get the endless "joke" teams that are never going to win anyway, like a drag queen in a pram flapping some 'fans' out each side which drops like a stone (then again going on the brain power of the average drag queen they probably did expect such a method to result in flight)

Main issues I have with it:
*Doesn't remember network passwords, despite clicking 'Remember my password'.
*The volume control now only shows the app using the sound - no 'Wave', 'Synth', 'CD'. A complete bastard when using 5.1 speakers and you need to change specific speaker levels.
*No support for windows help files:
The bastards hijacked the help api, so taking winhlp32 from XP and associating with hlp files doesn't work.
*Poor UI design, with everything assuming I'm a dumbass and need giant wizards/dialogs.
Urgh. The list could go on and on. I would use Ubuntu, but like XP, it lacks drivers for sound/video.
