  3. @HAK3180 Thanks for playing the map. The inequalities between the fine and low detail in the map is an issue that was a very good point to make. I feel it comes from the way I worked on the map first creating the rooms and then just jumping to populating them with items. It also kinda stems from the more realistic approach I was taking during my design as well just like you mentioned. More varied ceilings might be the best way for me to help with the moreso bland rooms and is something that someone else recently suggested. At this point in the level's design its probably the most efficient way for some "cleanup" without me needing to really work on reworking each room. But I'll see about trying to make more interesting rooms for the next map off the bat before just jumping to populating. The door problem for the Pinkies is kinda intended, but the one for the revenants is something I need to spend some time working on. Most players just deal with each revenate 1 by 1 using the door and widening it along with making it close behind the player might help with that. I'm also pretty happy that you enjoyed the turbine ambush, the blocking thing was intended. Also nice that you noticed the teleport trick I was working with, copying the doors for the teleport was something I had to figure out and rather helps the "invisible" teleport to remain unnoticed. Overall your playthrough gave me a alot to think of, I'll probably push out one more update before I start on the 2nd map and your feedback will be invaluable. Thanks!

    @tam Thanks for the suggestion Tam, the last fight with the archviles is pretty tepid as it is. I'm thinking of either trying to force the players into the room but your suggestion to consider making it a little harder to stunlock enemies might also work. There are tons of ways to do this, perhaps upping the PainChance, giving a pain threshold, perhaps making some of the Ak's bullets be painless. It does provide an interesting set of options to me that I hadn't considered. Thanks!

    Thanks for the input @xvertigox for likely the last update to the map before the 2nd map is released I'll see about providing a more varied ceiling geometry along with a couple other niggling issues. However I'm afraid that the SKY with supports idea for the 2nd shot doesn't quite work with the setting I'm trying to make. Since the map takes place on the more lower levels of a helicarrier sky above is very much so a distressing detail. Nonetheless thanks for the suggestion I'll take it into consideration.
  6. @Austinado Thanks for taking a look at the map! I'm happy it provided a fun time for you and am excited to hear you are looking for more in the same flavor. Since I have other things on my plate currently it might be a bit before map 2 and 3 appear but I'll make sure to finish the wad when I can. I might even throw in one more patch to it before that point but at best it will be nitpicky stuff when I do. Was a little sad you didn't notice the health in the trashcan by the pool table and also the ammo behind the boxes but happy to see the new elevator worked great. The next map should be a little more open and varied, I want to actually try some bizarre level geometry for the next level and some seepage of hell into the helicarrier that you are traversing through. Thanks again for taking a look!
  7. I would greatly appreciate you taking a look at this current one map wad. I would say that it shouldn't take more than 15 minutes to finish the map, an experienced play though only takes 4 to 6 minutes to finish it. Looking forward to seeing playthrough of the updated map.
  8. This wad will eventually get a bit bigger with 2 more maps but currently I would be very appreciative of someone playing through the most recent version. It does require jumping with just one spot and there is a new weapon but otherwise its pretty vanilla friendly, should take 15 minutes max.

  12. I personally have a mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX Brown switches that I use for my home keyboard. Having a tactile switch with a little bit of audio feedback is personally what I prefer. However if you do want an overview of the Cherry MX mechanical keyboard switch type check this out https://www.hyperxgaming.com/us/keyboards/switches Also you can heavily reduce noise with mechanical keyboards with o-ring dampeners, personally I haven't tried them before but I do hear good things about them.

    If you want the most efficient method of making sprites doing compression of images via nearest neighbor is your best bet. For example I found this salary man off of google and downloaded the png version of it. I also trimmed it using Aseprite I then used nearest neighbor image compression to reduce its height down to 100 pixels using Aseprite again. This is now a useable sprite for doom actors if needed. By using reference images that you shrunk down then edited or by simply editing textures or other sprites other people have made you have a very easy way to create your own custom sprites. However I would just suggest grabbing Aseprite if you want to do this or make fully custom sprite art as its probably the best sprite making tool that I've seen.

    @Rex705 Thanks for the playthrough Rex, its good to see that texture mods still allow the map to look pretty nice. Also very nice reaction to the switch trap for the keycard, it does however make me think that adjusting the ambush after could provide a risk choice for the player rather than just allowing for picking off of enemies using that hallway.

    For what ever reason it seems as if the demo locks up shortly after you cheat in some extra health. I'm using GZDoom for the playback, is that what you are using as well?
  18. I feel like the avenue of attempting to harm Doomguy, the Doom Marine, or the Doom Slayer via psychological methods isn't really an avenue that Hell has greatly considered. While I haven't played Doom 3 from my understanding the creepy atmosphere that the game cultivates is not created to specifically do this but rather is an expected outcome from the setting and plot of the game itself. Most of the creepy stuff even at that doesn't do a great job scaring the primary protagonist. So lets say hell signs you on as a creative consultant to best wage psychological warfare against the Doom series protagonist. What would you suggest? How would you best destroy the stoic unstoppable persona that stands before you to allow Hell's minions to have an easier time fighting him?

  20. An admirable, yet rather weak suggestion. We all know he would break out eventually. I believe we already have a department for that. Ah yes, we could pacify the slayer by regaining his sanity. Excellent idea. So long as he remains content he will no longer have a reason to fight back. Perhaps getting the imps to try and inject him with sedatives as well could help. Isn't exactly tormenting him but could remove him from the equation. Of course we would need to disable the auto map function but it could do wonders to destroy anyone's mental state.
