Cool! Good luck. -
Has anyone used Heretic's VIOHT.EXE (Virtual I/O i-glasses driver)?
iori replied to printz's topic in Doom General
I was at an exhibition around 1995 and there was a VR booth. These or something similar were strapped to my head and I played 5 minutes of ROTT. All I remember is the FOV being very zoomed-in, and slight gestures caused wild movements, making it very hard to play. -
Wow, Dave, that looks awesome

Is it still possible to get the WadAuthor Value Pack?
iori replied to ixfd64's topic in Doom Editing
I used Wadauthor a lot in the period between DEU and Doombuilder, so thank you for it. I was able to work around the bugs, and creating levels by inserting square sectors as opposed to manually placing every vertex and connecting them a la DEU made prototyping all the faster for me. -
I recently built a new computer without PATA support, and moved the stuff I thought important to my new drive. C:\Games\Doom\ Doom Builder Eternity IWADs Palettes Projects Skies Slade Textures Wads No point in delving into the subfolders beyond, but I've been keeping things simple and to the point, so that further expansion will be intuitive and meaningful. I don't see myself using much other than Eternity and Choco, so a parent folder for Source Ports doesn't seem to be a priority at this point.

Cdrom.com. Probably 1999. Pentium IIIs had just been announced. I discovered the magic of winrar that let me split larger files into 1.44mb sections so I could bring stuff home from school. I didn't get home internet until 2004... I would've been about 19 then.

Oh well, their last good game was Quake 3, and even that was the culmination of consecutive rehashes. Out with the old etc. I'm sort of hoping for another game industry crash of sorts, something that would smash the current big budget paradigm and open the door for a small team to deliver something with cohesive vision. Keep dreaming iori.

Bloodyacid: Those shots are great, but need more light variation.

Memphis: I made that :-P And without dithering it would look way worse. I will check for my original PSD but I doubt it's still around. It was the first sky in NDCP i believe.

Looks good to me Memphis. That's Doom ;)

[Megawad] Back to Saturn X - April Fools! Real E2 pictures on page 9 :)
iori replied to esselfortium's topic in WAD Releases & Development
I have to object regarding the orange lights in the first two shots. A nice brown light would fit better thematically and give the player a sense of familiarity within his surroundings. -
Awesome patchwork thing there Kyka!

Those bonus tracks are sick!

Back to Saturn X E1: 1.1.6 bugfix

You're correct, that effect is broken in the latest version of the wad. -
That's Benny! He's the doofus standing near the market bridge in Mission 4 of Thief II. His voice is unique among the guards, voiced by the same actor as Garrett, Stephen Russell. Benny has lots of dialogue throughout the game, always makes me chuckle.

On a related note: Thief and System Shock 2 updated! Seems someone has the source code after all. I wonder if they modified the dreamcast stuff that was found a while ago, or if they had the original PC source all along. The whole thing is fittingly shrouded in mystery.
