  1. If God had a name what would it be?
And would you call it to his face?
If you were faced with Him in all His glory
What would you do if you had just one rocket?

And yeah, yeah, God is fat
    Yeah, yeah, God is slow
    And yeah, yeah, yeah-yeah-yeah

What if God was a Mancubus?
Just a slob like one of us
    Just a flame ball wobble-puss
Tryin' to make his way home?

If God had a face what would it look like?
And would you want to see if, seeing meant
That you would have to believe in things like Impse
And in Carmack and id tech, and all the monsters?

And yeah, yeah, God is fat
    Yeah, yeah, God is slow
    And yeah, yeah, yeah-yeah-yeah

What if God was a Mancubus?
Just a slob like one of us
Just a mass of lipid pus
Tryin' to make his way home?

Just tryin' to make his way home
Movin' through Tei Tenga all alone
    Nobody callin' on zdoom
'Cept for the Pope maybe in Rome-ero

And yeah, yeah, God is fat
    Yeah, yeah, God is slow
    And yeah, yeah, yeah-yeah-yeah

What if God was a Mancubus?
Just a blob like one of us
Too wide to get on a bus
Tryin' to make his way home?

Just tryin' to make his way home
    Like an unholy rolling stone
Back up Tei Tenga all alone
Just tryin' to make his way home
    Nobody callin' on zdoom

Happy belated, Pritch. Speaking of which, today I am 29. Fun fact: I was a junior in high school when I joined this forum.

  3. Can hardly believe that my beloved p4 machine is 6 years old this month. It's only really started to get shown up in the last year or so.

So I've been chewing over new PC options. The aim has been to get a decent new system and good monitor for £800 or so.

So, I've picked out the following choices from ebuyer. Ebuyer is the only close equivalent to newegg here in the UK. Let me know what you think and if you see anything incompatible / glaringly poor choices.

Hmm. Are 15k drives noisy tho? Smallest capacity on ebuyer is 73GB and it's well over £100, I don't think it's worth it tbh.

I would've gone with an AMD Phenom II 940 Black Edition. Mainly because I am.
It would be an extra £40.00 for Processor putting you a little over budget. But it's faster than the Q6600 and it doesn't have multiplier restrictions. You could get a AMD Gigabyte mobo for same price as that Intel:

  6. Yay exciting Xmas quiz with possible prize, though highly unlikely.

    You have to guess how much I was quoted to insure this car for one year;

The quote starts on 01/06/2006 when I am 23 years old, with a licence held for 6 years and 6 years no claims bonus. That's all the info you get!

If you can guess the exact figure in pounds AND pence that I was quoted I will send you a scale model of this very car. Only one guess per person!

This is also my "Merry Christmas everybody" thread, so there we go.

    Good luck!

Kudos for the RS2000, which model year?

The asking price for D204EYU is £7000. Bear in mind that's a close to mint mk1 and although I think it's done 140,000 miles it looks pretty well cared-for and that Cosworth YB engine is a good 'un and he's throwing in a spare turbo.

All the same he's pissed about with a few after-market engine mods that spoil the purism a bit, OK you need a bailey headgasket for safety and it has the necessary cat 1 alarm/immobiliser but I prefer them as factory as possible. Not that I'd ever touch one anyway, costs involved are too carnage. Plus I've sat in one and couldn't get comfortable, the interior was great in 1982 but I wasn't even born then...

There's a peach of a one for sale with only 46000 on the clock and in totally original condition for eleven grand.

Its from 1992 and its black(the only good color an RS2000 comes in imo), I could post some pics from my car if you want.
Its pretty fast it reaches 200kmph easily, about 150bhp it has lowered suspension and neon lights underneith.
Neon lights outside the car is illigal over here, so they better not catch me with it :)

Before this one I had an toyota celica 2.0litre 16valve twin cam from 1986.
Not as fast as the rs2000 but still it was very nice to drive arround in, sadly I wrecked that one some years ago :(
There must be some pictures of that car lying arround here somewhere too.
[edit]the car I really want is an subaru impreza 2.0 gt turbo, my friend has one and its very fast.

  8. Need some help from you network gurus out there,

As some of you already know, my laptop has died. It's going back to the factory to be fixed/binned, but in the meantime I'm taking my desktop from home back down to university with me.

In my room at uni I have a LAN connection to the university's resnet. My laptop was configured to use it, and my subscription included the laptop's physical address.

My desktop, on the other hand, is currently configured to use my cable modem at home. It plugs in via USB.

Now I know I will need to update my resnet subscription with my desktop's physical address, I can do that OK. Thing is, under ipconfig /all it's showing the address as my cable modem, under Ethernet Adapter local area connection 3. I thought it would be the LAN port? Surely that won't be the right address to update my subscription with?

If I insert the network cable when i get it back to uni, will it switch to that automagically? Do I need to do anything to get it to work, and for that matter, to get it to work on my cable modem when I bring it back home again?

  9. So I spend £90 on a new AC adaptor for my laptop. I even say to zarkyb on #zdoom, "ooh zark, PSU is the most important thing in any PC, and I've replaced mine, no expense spared."

Well turns out it wasn't the adaptor after all. So much for painstaking deductive process. I honestly believe it shuts off randomly like this, because it IS alive and wants to annoy me. Why else would it work perfectly when my parents visited yesterday, and they could have taken it home with them to be fixed by our local shop? No, now I have to drive the fucker all the way back home some time this week, and I need to start writing my semester essays for uni. I also have to post that adaptor back.

I fucking hate things that don't work SOME OF THE TIME. Either work or don't work you piece of shit. You have no idea how tempting it was to beat seven shades of shit out of it this morning.

Still, it could be worse, I could be Airraid and have lost some finger I guess. All fingers still present and correct. Or I could be ZarkyB, and Scottish. Heh.

Anyway to give this rant some purpose other than making me feel better, when has technology let you down in the most spectacular and complete way imaginable?

      Nope, not that.

They've agreed to fix it, whatever it takes, free of charge. As it's out of warranty that's awesome, in spite what Shockwav3 says about Medion :P

  10. Yeah so here is my blog for recent events.

I got a 2:1 in my degree, which means I now have an upper second in english literature and creative writing. Basically this means I can do a Masters at uni next year so off I go in September all being well. That's really pleasing.

I'm planning my bachelor pad for next year already but money is tight so I need to find a cheap place asap. I also need a frigging laptop, I can evade the damn things no longer.

What else? Oh yeah I'm getting a new tennis racquet - Babolat Pure Drive Team. Had a go with it and it was so sweet I've got to have it and replace my aging Dunlop Rev. Tour ISIS. I know just how many of you are die-hard sports fans here and will really care about that.

I'm earning $15/hr eqivalent on a telephone donation thing at the moment. In the first week I've raised 20 times my wages (£4000) so I feel underpaid but I guess that's why these things are in business.

Oh yeah and I bought Frasier season 1 on dvd from HMV for £15 reduced. Bargain, my favourite show of the 90s and frickin' genius IMO.

    So that's it.

I just now read this thread but its sort of ironic as me and a close friend of mine online were talking about long distance relationships. I've tried them before, and it's true, they don't work. When you actually love someone or feel deeply for them, being so far away from them and not being able to be near them tears you apart. Not to mention that if there's been trust issues in the past, you have no idea what in the world they're doing. I can't even cope with a relationship an hour away, which I was just experiencing and had to end because of problems with the other guy. Ultimately though in the end the distance itself and not being with that person just damages relationships to the point of extinction. There's quite a few people I'd love to go further than friends with if they're who they seem to be online but I don't let myself do that because I know from personal experience what ends up happening. If we only had teleporters like in Doom...I can think of a person I'd like to see right now, but they live way north of here...

  14. The first of my groups of mates has just turned 21. Scary stuff, though it has little significance in the UK now as you can do almost everything at 18, except adopt and teach people to drive (whoo-hoo.. ahem).

Anyway we had the works last night. We threw a surprise evening of tricks for him. We told him it would be just me and two others and a quiet meal, when in fact ten were waiting at the restaurant to shout "Surprise!". After the meal and obligatory cake, out next surprise for him: we took a stretched limo round town for an hour. Then, the final surprise, even more people waiting back at his house, plus the whole place had been kitted up while he was out. Awesome, he was so happy and I was chuffed it all went smoothly. I was off my fucking face by 5am of course and naturally didn't make it into work today, so I have to pull a full weekender, but whatever, it was worth it :)

Heh, and that was the version using International English. In reality he got hocking gert steamed chopless.

I got a pretty useful gift on my 21st birthday: the ability to walk. It was a very civilized trip with a few friends to a nice Chinese restaurant near Cambridge's Grafton Centre, and on the way back I found that I was able to walk without the crutches I'd been using following a severe sprain a few weeks earlier.

My 18th was a different matter entirely: a traditional pub-crawl round Hanham with all the mandatory ingredients: curry, vomit and memory loss.

  15. So after going for a job interview to work on cars and car audio this summer I tell the manager I'll go home and think about it. See, I could earn more typing and doing admin for the town council but it's boring as fuck.

Anyway any visitor to the EE forum will know the rest. I sit down to a nice relaxing game of coop doom with my good Scottish comrade and partner in crime ZarcyB and it happens. Legacy takes a shit all over my life.

One rant and a frantic driver download later and normal order is restored, but now it's too late to ring the guy at the store back and tell him yes, so I appear rude. Great. That and a bizarre slip in the bath which nearly killed me and I'm starting to suspect something weird is going on about today. There was an odd couple parked outside in a car too. What gives? Holy shit is this the Truman Show?

Anyway #coop is still alive and kicking and if you still want to use Legacy (you sick, disgusting fuck) go for it. I am going to try and convert it to skulltag though. See you round, and keep smiling.

  16. So let's see if this new blog deal works.

    Because Ling's upgrade deleted all the previous blogs, which may or may not have been the best thing to happen since Malt Loaf was invented, I shall succintly try and repeat what I said in my last, first proper blog. But I can't remember exactly what I said, or be bothered to try to, so it shall be brief;

Doom 64 TC: arguments = meh, TC = doesn't interest me, overall reactions = a shame. UPDATE: Melfice reaction = good. Face = saved. For = Great Justice. TC = still meh for me.

Doom itself = win. Coop = big win. Looking for coop game? = #coop on freenode.

I think this is actually longer than my original blog but whatever.
