  2. well the date for my transfer has come... and gone. the SOB's are just dicking with me as far as i can tell. i started asking about being switched to sales or tech in late june. i finaly got word that i WOULD be moved on or by 9/1 from a manager. personaly i dont care which.
one reason is it would give me more choice in hours for school. second it would be work i enjoy doing and do well. my manger told me they need a replacement first, ok should have taken care of that a month or so ago. also i should have more of a choice than say some random person off the street. unless that guy has more certifications or some degree, in which case i would not mind, i should get the job i asked for.
this has screwed me out of going back to school this quater. and as far as i know they have no plans on moving me. they most likely want me there for christmas which will be a no go.
if they want to play the screwing game i will get them back. if i hear nothing by months end i will either sign on with the military or look for another job. then put in my 2 weeks, which would screw them when large shipments started arriving.

could it be racism? I am am albanian, who the fuck knows. all i know is they have been lying to me for the last 3 months about this. either tell me the truth or do what i asked.

its pretty shitty when they say you got a job and you start planning for school and then you find out they have done nothing, and then they give the job to some random person who knows nothing about the job. come on i have been with the company for over a year.

  3. I'm quite excited about this Orientation meeting. Most of them are stupid and boring but this is the good kind. I also have a test that same day, which is today, and then two other ones, dunno when I'll have them. Provided I pass I can work as a Longshoreman on the waterfront. I'll be able to start off as a teamster and work my way into the union. It sure beats the shit out of that retail job. Longshoring has two things that I like in an occupation: Flexibility, and good pay. Two shifts of longshoring = same amount of pay working a month at crummy retail job.

First test which I have today is comprehension. Before hand I have to verify I am who I claim to be, and verify I'm a Canadian citizen. Then I get to write this test which will demonstrate that I thoroughly understand the english language. Fun Fun.

On another note, anybody ever driven a car with a $150cdn price tag? I have one sitting in my garage. It's quite the piece of shit. It's an 82 Datsun 200sx. Got some surface rust, majority of the paint is there. More importantly it actually drives pretty good. For how long is anybody's guess. It's not mine, but I have the option of buying it. My bro's, friends', girlfriend is renting out a portion of our garage at the price of 12 pack of beer a month, to keep the thing sitting there till she decides to insure it. Now she's offering to sell it to me at the same price.

It wouldn't be so bad I suppose. Insurance would be dead cheap. The price is right. If it breaks down on the road, I'd just take the plates off of it and leave it there, without giving a fuck. It has a wee little 1.3L 4cyl engine so it's quite econo, and it's a hatchback so it doesn't look entirely like a shit box. I suppose I'll wait on it for now, it'll probably be sitting there for a while yet.

EDIT: I also had this strange dream. I was surfing doomworld only it had a different layout as the dream interpereted it. In the FAQ section it stated that if you drink and do drugs while surfing doomworld your %40 more likely to commit suicide like Eric Harris.

What ever the fuck that meant. This is by far the strangest dream ever. On another note http://www.cafepress.com/dfc this TC isn't even finished and they already got merchandise! Heh, Action Doom never had thongs! For obvious reasons...

  4. I hate hardware. Hardware hates me.

Yesterday, late evening just a few minutes before closing time, I was sitting by the computer doing nothing in particular -- listening to some music, sorting through some old files, etc.

All of a sudden, I heard the sound of an explosion, followed by the computer dying.

The power button wouldn't start it again, so I assumed it was the power supply unit that had broke. The smell from it confirmed my suspicion.

Luckily, I had an old computer in the same room so I borrowed its PSU. 200 W, but ought to be enough to get the computer running.

The computer now responded to the power button, but got no further than the memory test, where it hung at some 49123-odd kilobytes. I rebooted several times, but it kept hanging at the same place, though at random amounts of memory.

My conclusion was that the PSU had pulled some vital organs along with it, probably the memory but possibly the mainboard, or the CPU... or all of them.

Figuring that I should just get an all new box, I moved the hard disk over to the old computer to see if I could boot there -- mainly to make sure that no files had been lost.

It wasn't able to make contact with the hard disk. I panicked of course :P

But then I tried another hard disk on the same computer, and that didn't work either, so I realized there might be a chance it was the old computer being broken and not the hard drive. A third drive worked, however, so I wasn't sure.

I went to bed and cried myself to sleep.

Today when I woke up, I tried getting the old computer to work again. Unsuccessfully.

Then I took the PSU out and put it back in my new computer, along with the hard drive.

    It worked.

Same configuration as before, but this time it passed the memory test and booted without any problems.

Is it common for hardware to self-heal overnight? When I think about it, it has happened to me once before.

So, anyway, I'm about to order a new PSU and I'm naturally backing up some important files while writing this :P

i remember a MAC doing that back then. i also remember a new imac doing it. the teacher was useing the iMacs to do stuff they where not made for. in the end 23 died. 1 literaly caught fire.

she was trying to use them for alot of CPU intesive stuff. the room was always hot and Imacs are horrible at cooling. basicly and Imac is a system for papers and internet. now a G4 would have been a different story

besides i already have an email for spam.

  6. Today I found that my Neon still gets 30 miles per gallon doing mostly in-town driving. At one point I think it actually got 37, but I maybe I just got the numbers wrong somewhere that time. 30 MPG is pretty damn good for a 1995 Neon with something like about 80,000 miles on it.

I opened a savings account today. I tried to be disciplined, but I just kept running out of money for stupid little things. If I just live as if the savings account doesn't exist, and put $50 in it every paycheck, then I should have it a bit easier when I need to buy expensive things.

Gotta cut down on the junk food... I notice that when I run out of money I can live without it painlessly. I should be able to resist the temptation to buy it when I do have money, too. That's another thing the savings account will do for me: It'll deplete my checking account somewhat so I have less spending money and may be somewhat prevented from wasting it.

Right now, though, my checking and savings account together total to about $15. Meh.

  7. Figured since I hadn't posted anything on it, I would. Here's my first blog from Japan. Pics (linked, all 1024x768, about 150k each) at the bottom.

Today we had the luncheon and welcome ceremony here. It was quite good, and the luncheon served some American-style food, so it was good to have meat, potatoes, and carrots, hehe. Cathrine, Stephanie, Jennifer, and a girl from Kentucky named Andi sat together and ate. Afterwards Andi, her friend, and I walked back to the dorms. As it turns out, they love anime and videogames. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to find people here who like anime and videogames. Outside of them, it's just Brandon, really. Anyways, the other cool thing that Andi is going to stay in the dorms. All my other friends are leaving to goto homestay, so it's good to know at least someone here. She's in the dormatory nextdoor, Seminar House III.

Anyways, after that I came back to my dorm for just a half an hour to rest. At 2:00, we met up again front of the CIE building, where we paired up 3 to 3 with Japanese students. They were going to be our tour guides for a trip to Kyoto. So it was Brandon paired up with Naomi, a girl named Karen paired up with a guy named Uchi, and I was paired up with a very cuite girl named Hiromi. We took two trains to Kyoto, where they then took us to two seperate temples there (both Buddhist). Man was it beautiful...Anyways, they then took us out to dinner. Hiromi had to go by this time, but Naomi and Uchi stayed. Naomi even paid for part of our dinner! Anyways, we then took some trains home. I think I have the train system down. I'll take pictures of it and explain it soon.

Tomorrow is like the first day i have nothing to do. So Brandon and I are first going to hit the 99-Yen store so I can get some fingernail clippers and some better tasting tea. Then we're going to go find an arcade since there's supposed to be one fairly close to here...he's moving out of the dorms, but he's going to be VERY close to here, so we'll keep hanging out. Best way I can describe him...he's very mellow, he's a Computer Engineering major so we have stuff in common, likes anime and Japanese stuff, and he's pretty intelectual.

The entire time we were out, I tried to use Japanese, and succeeded 3/4ths of the time. I'm surprised how well I can communicate already...and love doing so in Japanese, lol.

Anyways, that's pretty much it for today. Here's pictures, though!

That was one of the streets Hiromi and I were walking down to get to Hirikata Eki. "Eki" in Japanese means train station. Train is "densha".

This was right infront of Hirakata Eki. Kind of a cool street.

We transfered onto the Super Express line here. I don't know what station it is exactly, but the view is awesome.

Ok, group picture. From the left you have Hiromi, me looking stupid in a way I didn't know I was, Brandon, Naomi, Karen, and Uchi. I think Naomi liked me...she blew off Brandon and then said that if I see her on campus to call her. That's also the first of the two temples we went to.

And for the record...I think Naomi really liked me. She blew off Brandon, and said that if I ever saw her on campus to call her out and say hi. And also for the record...her and Hiromi were DAMNED cute and hawt.

That's what we were standing next to. Before you enter, you have to clense yourself by rinsing your hands and then your mouth out. You don't drink the water, but like rinse and spit into the pit surrounding it where it's taken away.

That's a huge place in the middle of the area. Don't know what it's used for, but I believe ceremonial dancing. Next to it is a prayer area they had us goto and pray at. You toss a coin in, ring the bell, clap twice, then pray. Heh, kinda cool.

Hiromi took a picture of me infront of man-powered taxis. This was at the base of the 2nd temple area we went to.

That's Hiromi and I infront of the entrance to the 2nd temple. That red area you see is what you pass through. Inside the green lattice are these huge statues with O_O eyes. I would have taken a picture, but it wouldn't have turned out.

Now this is cool. A long time ago, a monk had talked with the Gods, who told him to go find a holy water site. He found a spring here with fresh water, so he decided this was the place. Now adays, it's an attraction to come and drink this holy water for good health and spirit. And in truth...best water I've ever had.

one thing you must tell me about this land is... what does whale bacon taste like? i have grown tired of this "pig" bacon and would like to try the bacon of other animals.

i hear they sell whale bacon, so if i ever go there and they still sell it i want to try it.

  8. Well, I lucked out and my internet will indeed not be disconnected until Wednesday, the 1st of September... The same date I move out.

I had the opportunity (not the pleasure, though) of visiting George Fiffy's (King REoL) site out of sheer morbid curiosity today by googling it. What I found inside was absolutely atrocious, especially the maps for Quake 3. I only downloaded one of them, "No Vacancy" or something, and while he pimps his maps and sites so much, this map TRULY sucks. The only good architecture in his map was the front entrance staircase thingy, coincidentally all he took screenshots of. The area is, in the true fashion of George Fiffy, littered with powerups and weapons. I had every single powerup, minus flight, going at the same time.

Anyways, I flamed him for his horrible maps that he pimps to be the best or "as good as everyone else's" on his website and his horribly distasteful article on Columbine where every sentence contains the word "REoL TougH" or "King REoL" to the point of disgust. Here's the email I sent to him promptly after reading his Columbine Article:
    http://img64.exs.cx/img64/3381/reoltough.jpg

Since I'm too lazy to crop it down it will be at 1024x768 resolution.

Anyways, now on to the fun stuff. My own [perhaps crap] map port of one of the Danzig series maps is pretty much fleshed out, minus the last little area I didn't throw in yet. This "last little area" is actually my idea so I can at least say I didn't completely rip the map off. I have a few screenshots that I will post later on today. Still have a ways to go before it's finished, but it'll be worth it. :D

  9. two words that sum up my brother. a 19year old kid who has no money, never even sleeps in his own bed, thinks he knows alot about cars and can't get a job.
we have been getting a shit load of calls from banks and such stating he owes money, and he does. simply put i told one of them to call my father over the matter as my brother will not speak to them. this is getting me pissed, cause i have a job and work.

he said he started a job today, i asked him what time he goes in, he said he already did and got home at 11:30. well ahhh, he is a dumbass. if you are gonna lie put more thought into it. i was awake and sitting at this computer at 11:30 and his fat ass was down stairs.

Needless to say i am tired of this lazy chunk of worthless lard. he tries to get "better" jobs. he cant because he has no training nor has he held any job longer than 6 months. i told him just to go back to McDonalds, even if for a few months. also i told dad to sell his car, and give him a shit car.
honestly i would take the car but i dont know how to drive stick very well

  10. Okee. I've gone to colege, my art doesn't suck, I have a pro website now... Now what the hell... I'm totally lost here. I was working at an anmation company, but it didnt work out.. (I dont think I wanted to be an animator anyway)

I think illustrating would be nice. I'e illustrated a couple books, but I really want to use my style fully. (Not that children designs arent fun)

Do I need an agent? Does anyone know any? I'm banging my head against a brick wall here.

from what i have heard, its a very very competitive market for animation. more so if you do that DBZ/animie style stuff. nothing wrong with it, i do like the drawling style. however its sort of a pop-culture thing now.

i knew a kid and that was the only thing he would draw or animate. however he was bumbed out to learn it was also the skill of thousands of others like him. His problem is that he could, or would, not do other art forms. this screwed him in the end. His art was good, but it wasn't new or exciting. i could see a similar things from another artist.

However if it didnt work out for you, i say keep working at it. maybe try other forms of art. sorry havnt seen too much of your work so i dont really know your style. the biggest thing i can say is don't restrict your self, try to be different. my friend was very good, but in the end he was only good at 1 thing.

I may not be an artist but i do know about not restricting yourself to a single profession. for the most part i am a computer guy. however I plan on getting a degree in biology or a career with the military. that way i have something to fall back on.

so now that i get today and tomarrow off, i set an apointment for later today to have this bastard cut out.

this one i broke while jogging in the woods. was swiping at the flys in my face and didnt notice a large tree root. my foot made solid contact with that bastard and shattered the left side of the nail. anyways gonna take advantage of the last 2 months of being on my dad's health care.

well they are his movies, so he can do whatever he wants. if he wanted to add dancing hobos, clowns and ducks he could. however i think he is just driving people away. unedited DVD's would be nice but they may never exsist, unless you make them from VHS. the VHS versions we have are so old, they hardly work.

That was at the opening ceremony this morning.

That was one of the streets Hiromi and I were walking down to get to Hirikata Eki. "Eki" in Japanese means train station. Train is "densha".

    http://www.du.edu/~ahunt/japan/8-27-04/DSCN0398.JPG

And also for the record...her and Hiromi were DAMNED cute and hawt.

    http://www.du.edu/~ahunt/japan/8-27-04/DSCN0402.JPG
That's what we were standing next to. Before you enter, you have to clense yourself by rinsing your hands and then your mouth out. You don't drink the water, but like rinse and spit into the pit surrounding it where it's taken away.

    First shrine in the temple.

That was next to the shrines. It's another shrine, but Shinto.

    http://www.du.edu/~ahunt/japan/8-27-04/DSCN0408.JPG
That's a huge place in the middle of the area. Don't know what it's used for, but I believe ceremonial dancing. Next to it is a prayer area they had us goto and pray at. You toss a coin in, ring the bell, clap twice, then pray. Heh, kinda cool.

    http://www.du.edu/~ahunt/japan/8-27-04/DSCN0409.JPG
Hiromi took a picture of me infront of man-powered taxis. This was at the base of the 2nd temple area we went to.

    http://www.du.edu/~ahunt/japan/8-27-04/DSCN0410.JPG
That's Hiromi and I infront of the entrance to the 2nd temple. That red area you see is what you pass through. Inside the green lattice are these huge statues with O_O eyes. I would have taken a picture, but it wouldn't have turned out.

Now adays, it's an attraction to come and drink this holy water for good health and spirit. And in truth...best water I've ever had.

  21. Ok my friends just got arrested for battery. It was my cousin's College party, and he was about to go away for college. My friends must have snuck in some beer while they were at it, and they also must have stolen a car on our small street. Here's what they did:

1.Rolled a ball into the street.

    2. Pretended they were going to go get it.

    3. Opened the car door and threatened them to get out.

4.The guys refused, and unfortunately the cops pulled behind them.

    5. They got charged with battery.
