So, I'm about to get a new pc and I've been out of the scene for a while. The only question I have is about the CPU. Why is this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115029 $1.00 more expensive than this?: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115004 The 2.66GHz has an FSB of 1333 while the other which is 2.13GHz has a FSB of 1066. Why is one more expensive than the other? There are more products that are priced like this. I'm guessing higher numbers doesn't always mean better?

US Navy to Fix Swastiska Shaped Barracks after complaints
Skeletor replied to SYS's topic in Everything Else
Interesting to see how the definition of a symbol is determined by its cultural context. I'm Korean-American and I've been to Korea and China, and there are the swastika symbols here and there but not rotated as used by the Nazi's. A sign of good luck, not a symbol of the Nazi gov't. -
No, not really. But these parents are wacko! http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070716/ap_on_re_us/neglect_internet_addiction

So it's okay to show stereotypes? The creators of Tom and Jerry at the time probably held racist attitudes which is why they would think up something like that. Don't get me wrong, I love Tom and Jerry. But kids see something like this they are socialized and ingrained with negative messages that last with them until their adulthood, even a lifetime. As a child, I remember seeing Tom dress up in various ways as a conniving, sneaky, deceitful Asian dressed up in the typical "fu-manchu" clothes. At the time, I thought it was funny because I was a kid and didn't know the concept of racism. However, as I grew up and was called a "chink," seeing things like this is a pain. It's not just Tom and Jerry, even recent cartoons like Disney's Mulan inaccurately portray Chinese culture (I'm Korean btw). They depict Mulan preparing for a prearranged marriage....there was no such thing at the time. Things like that should be edited out because it does affect the way people think negatively. Negative views can lead to ethnocentrism.

Overall, I enjoyed the movie. It was sentimental. I was born in '86 so it's not really my generation, but I fondly remember watching the cartoon on TV as a child, rooting for both the Autobots and the Decepticons (I know that sounds weird but you gotta admit Megatron is a pretty cool bad guy). I think the movie wasn't perfect but it was fun and entertaining. They hit Optimus Prime right on the mark but I wasn't too keen of Megatron's new look. Also, there was so much damn rubble flying everywhere in the movie that the fighting scenes were very chaotic, making it hard to see the robots.

http://pc.ign.com/articles/789/789321p1.html Hopefully it'll be good like the other two. I loved how you play JC Denton and in the second game he is just one of many groups that are fighting for power that the player needs to choose from.

Yeah, don't you just love that? Laputin Machine...and then BOOM! Gunther is dead.

"War. War never changes." Ron Perlman has such a cool voice. Although it's been said many times, I hope Fallout 3 doesn't end up like Oblivion w/Guns

You should check out "The Descent". Pretty good horror movie I have seen in years.

Heath Ledger is alright. Where's the green hair though? You all remember Jack Nicholson as The Joker? I thought he played that role very well. http://www.anni80.info/movies/images/joker.jpg

White teacher verbally assulted by 'racist' black middle schoolers
Skeletor replied to doom2day's topic in Everything Else
No, not from classic/individual level racism. Institutional racism? Yes. And when the word minority is used when talking about race and class minority means those without power (or numbers & power). The majority refers to the dominant class, those who are in power, like WASPs' (White Anglo-Saxon Protestants). I feel bad for her and I don't think she deserved any of that. However, why do you think those students are saying things like white bitch, white motherfucker...a general hostility towards whites? It's just not black students harboring some sort of internalized anger towards whites but other non-blacks as well (me being Asian). They shouldn't be saying those things but I think we should take a closer look at why there is this hostility instead of saying something like "oh, everyone is racist. We're all equal" blah, blah, blah. -
The Dr. Who thread got me thinking about Red Dwarf. Anyone watch this show a while, while back?

Any of you have it? I just tried it out yesterday and I think it's a great deal. Alot of classics as well as recent games. Recent games only take about 45 minutes to 1 hour to download (Silent Hill 2 took me about 50mins) I think its worth it if you're yearning to play the past and contemporary classics without handing over rolls of dough and/or if you're just a casual gamer.

Hi, I stopped playing graphics intensive games after Doom 3 and just recently got a new computer with a Radeon X300 128mb vid card, PCI-E. However, this card is worse than my Geforce 6800 128MB AGP I had on my old computer. I haven't been keeping up with the video card world so what is the latest and greatest of both nvidia and ati cards? I'm looking for a card that will play games at decent framerates. PCI-E. thanks.

So...if the theories are wrong then we get stretched like spaghetti noodles? Man...who cares (yes, i know some of you do) about how the universe was started? Once you figure out what the hell are you going to do about it? There are three stages in life: 1.) What is lunch? 2.) Why do we eat lunch? 3.) What time do you want to have lunch?

Anybody know a release date on this? It says Aug. 29 2008 but nothing yet. The website hasn't been updated in ages.

You mean...this isn't the year 2008?

I'm sort of neutral. I'm not into any sport really, skateboarding is probably the only sport I got into which I sucked at. Anyways, what scares me about World Cup is the nationalism that ensues from it. My country is the worst (S. Korea). I think the nationalism is a possible source of the violence between spectators. It really bothers me because I'm not really the nationalist type...more unversalist. And a question... Is there something wrong with me? When I see other guys watch sports, especially American football, they stand up from their seats and start screaming and cheering cause 'their' team made a goal. I think watching sports is fun (I usually hate playing it) but I don't get to that level of excitement where I need to start screaming but being a guy I feel I should. If a team makes a goal or something the maximum length I will go to is saying 'Yes!' but not screaming. I think it's the whole machismo thing that turns me off.
