id had the right idea getting rid of it in Eternal. It was too powerful for its own good. -

Imagine needing your user to be a doom master in order to be a good weapon lol Unlike the pistol which has the same effectiveness no matter the skill level ::) -

unless this is also a joke post I'm pretty sure the plasma gun does vastly superior dps to the chaingun? Which is really useful in situations where you just gotta carve a path Now. EDIT: Just checked the math and yeah it does an average of like 15750 damage per minute compared to the chaingun's 5250, so it's like a 3x damage increase. -

I love using the plasma rifle to mow shit down when the threat's too immediate to allow for a BFG blast. map13 in Going Down in particular is great for this, just carving your way through these crowded stairways. -

you need to be right up next to a demon to do good bfg damage but the pistol can deal a walloping 12.5-37.5 damage per second from ANY distance (provided none of the shots miss). Clearly, the pistol is the superior option. I'd go as far as to say it's more broken than the ssg -
I would be one of the many demons emerging from the abyss to wreak havoc upon the living.

Honestly, pretty much all of Donwood's art for KID A fits into my exact favorite visual aesthetics.

map06 The Crusher was made by American Mcgee and not Sandy Petersen as I had always assumed.

Best Map in All of Ultimate Doom, Doom II, TNT Evilution, The Plutonia Experiment

There's something I really love about Gotcha's "Multiple islands in a lava lake" layout. Plutonia's Speed is just downright beautiful and any map with similar theming to it tends to be an instant fav of mine. -

There's something just really unsatisfying about fighting cacos most of the time for me. It might be doom 1 memories but they always feel spongier than they actually are. That and the fact that you can't run under them -
Thoughts on Boomer Shooter YouTubers?
Ghouljokes replied to GraphicBleeder's topic in Everything Else
There's something about the way gggman says "SHEEIT" that's the most grating thing in the world to me. Civvie's a fun time and I frequently find myself rewatching his videos for the entertainment value Decino somehow always manages to make mass demon murder incredibly calming I only recently discovered mtpain but when I did I pretty much binged all his content -
How would you rank the recent indie retro fps titles?
Ghouljokes replied to whybmonotacrab's topic in Everything Else
1. ULTRAKILL It's legitimately my favorite game of the year, and the sheer depth of the mechanics has kept me coming back to it more times than I can count. It's just an incredibly fun game to play and master, and the soundtrack is just sheer bangers. There's not a single thing I so much as dislike about the game, and ACT 2 is one of the things I'm most looking forward to this year. 2. DUSK I still have to finish this one, I took a break during Erebus Reactor and got so sidetracked by other things that I forgot to pick it back up. I loved what I played so far, though. While the main selling point is that it's a throwback shooter, it's clear the devs aren't using nostalgia as a crutch, with them pulling new tricks out their sleeves left and right. Also the atmoshpere is just incredibly thick, it's the most sheer cosmic dread I've ever felt playing a game. 3. Prodeus It's pretty much a copy of the DOOM formula. It's an incredibly well made copy, of course, but it's still definitely content to take the formulas established by that game and not really stray too far from them. That said, the levels and gameplay they have on offer are rock solid at the very worst, and if not for everything about ULTRAKILL's shotgun, I'd call it my favorite use of such a weapon in games. I haven't tried the level editor, but there's a nice catalog of quality stuff put out by the community, and I'm looking forward to seeing how that mapmaking scene progresses. also I haven't played hellbound but god all the marketing leans so hard into "HEY WE'RE JUST LIKE THOSE NINETIES SHOOTERS WE'RE SO NINETIES" that it's almost embarrassing. -
Can you recommend specific music/map(pack) combinations?

Not a wad but playing Doom II with Jet Set Radio/Future osts in the background is some of the best fun I've had with the game.
