  1. I like them all differently.. Just depends on my mood.

Sometimes I'm feeling a chocolate doom vanilla runthrough. Sometimes I'm feeling a brutal doom mouselook runthrough. They all are fun in their own ways. If you passionately hate something so similar to something else, you're discounting yourself.

honestly I've noticed a ''Oh this person doesn't like an aspect of Doom Eternal, that means they don't understand how the game's supposed to work'' kind of mentality, especially on r/Doom and with a ''big fish'' of the nu-doom community regarding the Marauder (if you know you know)

On the inverse side, there was a portion of the community that acted like absolute divas about the marauders. There were so many posts when the game first came out complaining about them and their "steep" and out of place learning curve. Now, low and behold, they throw two of them at you at once in the DLC, and I've seen "2 at once is not that bad" comments countless times on the sub. Talk about a turnaround

  3. In regards to grenades,

The problem with the combat shotgun grenade launcher is that is that the L1/left button grenade is 10x more efficient. It allows you to launch a grenade while you're using another gun. You don't have to switch from ballista to grenade launcher before you can explode some demons.

So, if they were to remove one method for grenade utilization, it 100% should be the combat shotgun.

  4. @TheMagicMushroomMan Jesus Christ. Those takes could probably trigger, like... well into 8 figures worth of people, lol. Most of those games are among the most critically acclaimed of their respective generations. ND was pretty much nothing but net up until TLOU2 to just about anyone that enjoys story-driven games, 3PS's or platformers.

As for TLOU2. It shouldn't exist. It has much in common with Star Wars 7. A very mediocre completely fan-service driven shoehorned-in reboot sequel with a lamer story and characters I don't care about, along with killing off the old guy main character that everybody loved.

  5. People say Eternal is like "violent chess." In my opinion, 2016 is like "violent checkers."

Eternal packs so much into the game in regards to new strategy and mechanics, it takes a long time to teach you how to really harness all of the new abilities and pieces. This can make for a slow, slightly tedious early game. Once you begin to unlock and master all of the elements of the instrument, though, the midgame and endgame make for some of the highest intensity that the FPS genre has ever seen, in my opinion. The last few levels are fucking insanity lol

2016 on the other hand has more simple, to the point and traditional core FPS mechanics. This is why it was such a successful reboot. It was innovative enough, while still being what we've all seen before under the hood. It throws it all at you at once, because you can handle it, which immediately reels you in. This, to me, created the opposite problem in regards to pacing that Eternal suffers. You've seen it all in the first few levels of 2016. The midgame and endgame get stale, even boring. In my few playthroughs, I usually quit around hour 9...

All I can say is grind through the first 3-5 levels of Eternal. You have to be sort of patient with it, but the payoff is worth it... If you're like me, once you've played through the last few levels, you get the itch that makes 2016 obsolete. Any time I play 2016 now, I just wish I was playing Eternal.

  6. It's fucking stale. Like most media fandom-based subreddits, the community at large wants a specific type of post, and that's all that really gets upvoted.

Either really accessible and unclever memes, user achievements (like completing ultra nightmare), or general complaints. Those are what you'll find on the Hot page at any given moment.

I'm not sure why Reddit is so awful about this. 4 out of 5 instances that you find any discussion with a spec of substance is the bickering that happens in controversial, and that's about it. Lol.

Call of Duty Black Ops has a weapon mounted flamethrower that can be overpowered by harsh language, literally used exclusively to artificially handicap yourself or to troll.

I would only whip this out when our team was dominating and I just wanted to mess with the other team with some weird ass handicapped combination like an FAL + flamethrower lol.
