    THEME-GAWAD PROJECT #1

    Been a bit busy with university lately, but I finished the layout long ago, the map is fully functional but I still need to add enemies and mark sectors as secrets, not to mention secondary decorations. As for questions, my map it's a sewer, full of sewers, so I'd like to ask if the gimmick is to have the slime damage the player? Considering I was thinking about some battles that once tested were harder than I expected, I don't think that'd be the case, but I'd like to know what was your vision on this second map I don't have any second thoughts, I haven't been able to check the other maps, I'll check MAP03 and make an exit that can connect directly with it

    DBP32: Tomatomania!

    Holy crap I've been waiting all this month for this! Tho I don't know if I should surrender to my lust and download it right away or wait for RC3 aaaaa I'm so eager to play it
  7. So I have a really low-end computer and apparently it wasn't even completely compatible with Windows 10. For some reason, running Prboom+ or Crispy Doom with Uncapped Framerate On, the audio of my pc would completely glitch, so I was kind of forced to play with it Off. As for everything else, i liked it to look as vanilla as possible, no transparency, lost souls limit, gamma correction on 2. Aside from smart counters and secrets on the map, everything was pretty much vanilla, with Boom and MBF support I downgraded to 8.1 and the first thing I did was download PrBoom+ yeeehaw And I decided to keep everything but the smart counters and secrets on the map as default, including Uncapped Framerate. I decided to play like this since it didn't f*ck with my audio here, but apparently made me sound a bit laggy on Discord idk, not really a trouble to me tbh. I like how it feels tbh, but it was more of an ocassional 60 fps rather than a stable thing so I just turned off Uncapped Framerate, also I wasn't really used to it so it gave me motion sickness and headaches sometimes So yeah, quite a long story just to ask, What's your favourite configuration for your favourite port? How do you like them to look, feel, play? Come on I wanna read your opinions

    Which sourceport do you use the most and why?

    PRBoom+ usually, I just like it a lot and it's compatible with almost all wads I'm interested in When I feel like playing with mods I use LZDoom because it lets me play on 320x240 and lags less than GZDoom And from time to time I play some wads on GZDoom, I always liked that port, it's amazing and I love how it behaves

    Most people tend to favour PrBoom+ thanks to its compatibility options, widescreen and stuff, I'd say it's the best for almost everything but Eternity engine-compatible or ZDoom-compatible maps

Y'all I came here to read some Mars Wars jokes send them all But dor real tho, I remember that one time Microsoft bought Mojang and people were mad about it thinking it'd be the end for Minecraft (Maybe I'm going a bit off-topic here idk), and look now, they've done quite a decent job, heck, even the Bedrock version with all its microtransactions doesn't have anything too crappy and doesn't leave out some core features, you can still play the vanilla game and it's kinda better optimized for that matter Only thing I think they might do, but even then it's such an extreme case, it's putting Final Doom out of the Addons for Doom 2 and selling them separately

    Imo I always thought some of its enemy placement was cheap, and it has some really infuriating traps But it's hell of a lot fun, like, even while infuriating and sometimes stupidly hard, it remains a fun milestone to overcome!

  19. Oh hey there lads. So, some weeks ago I was just chilling and thought "Hey, I should make a techbase Doom map, there's already plenty of them so I can just make another one". And so I did Now this map is kinda small, and really closed, you might wanna use FloppyDisk Midi or Now that's what I call MIDI, unless you really like D_Runnin So, what's with the name? Alright, going back to talking about the map itself, I personally tested it on PrBoom+, using it's sublime, really comfy software renderer, and I asked a friend to test it in GZDoom. Now, I know GZDoom goes easier when talking about untagged doors, lifts and the like, so I wanted to test if there was anything wrong, and no, apparently there's nothing wrong so we're good to go. This map doesn't require you to jump or crouch, you can use freelook if you want as it doesn't affect the overall gameplay. Also it was planned and made with vanilla monsters in mind, so yeah, keep that in mind if you wanna play with mods. Alright then, here are some screenshots. Also uhhh, not really a story or something, just the classic Doom thing, you already know, demons invade, you clean, bla bla bla, but since this is a military tech base I wanted to create something that might give that away, so here's this They're supposed to be uhhh, things that automatically detect your range and give you access to stuff, a lot of them activate secrets, be sure to step in! I know Zdoom ports accept most doors however they're designed, but your maps are really fun and someday you gotta participate in some community project, most of them are made to work in their specific type of port, being Boom compatible or Limit removing, so yeah, you better get used to tag them as DR Keep the great job!

  22. Found some bugs, first I booted this wad with PrBoom+, and no door was functional Second, was this a secret or a shortcut door or something? Because it doesn't work, at least in LZDoom (Just checked this on DoomBuilder, no idea why it doesn't work.) And then this trap, it's cruel, yeah, but thanks to the plasma gun it was beatable, maybe add another baron, or make the floor hurt you? Because if you win your only way out is noclipping. Found the problem btw, here the doors must be tagged as DR, not SR, DR stands for Door repeat, it works perfectly for every port, SR is Switch Overall it's a pretty good and fun map, I like your style of mapping, the fact that ammo is scarce makes it more fun, you'll get better at this!

    Most if not all gameplay mods that run in GZDoom should be able to run perfectly in LZDoom Anyway, most of the recomendations above are top tier, I think you should definitively try out Doom the way Id did and its Lost Episodes, they're hella fun

    It's pretty good actually, short and simple, just like a Doom mapper should start I'd love to give you some advice tho. First, quoting a comment up there, take a look at John Romero's design rules, I think the video by chubzdoomer is way more explanatory thanks to the clips put there Also, you could try to add more height variance, it's not necessary when you're starting, as you need to get more comfortable with the engine and editing tools, but it's always nice to understand a bit about height differences and how they can make a map more fun or challenging That's it lad! You got a nice start here
