Back to Saturn X E1: 1.1.6 bugfix
Searcher replied to esselfortium's topic in WAD Releases & Development
Sometimes when the lines are not spaced a minimum of 16 units apart they won't trigger. I have not looked at the map to see the distance between the 5 lines. Just food for thought. Or you can send out the witch hunters. :) -
After looking at the other forums for 15 years I kind of miss them.. Will just have to get used to this however because I doubt I am going away anytime soon. What a change, Wow.

Zdoom, can I bind a key combo to a single command?
Searcher replied to invictius's topic in Source Ports
Pick a key and pick a command. Drop this in to your zdoom autoexec.cfg file and save it. Example: Change the key and change your command: bind L "give Infrared" alias flashlight_on "r_visibility 32; bind f flashlight_off" alias flashlight_off "r_visibility 8; bind f flashlight_on" bind f flashlight_on bind n "notarget" bind x "summonfriend cyberdemon" bind a "summonfriend archvile" bind s "summonfriend sorcerer2" bind r "summonfriend Revenant" bind b "summonfriend BaronOfHell" Bind k "give all" Bind u "god" sv_nojump false sv_allowjump true When done make sure this following line is in your zdoom-user.cfg Example set autoexec "C:/DOOM2/ZDOOM/autoexec.cfg" Do it only one time and just hit the keys in game. All done... Obviously these are cheats... -

How Do You Stop An Enemy From Shooting Through Walls?
Searcher replied to Da Eediot's topic in Doom Editing
Make sure the line points outwardly into the room and mark it impassable if needed, and as above do NOT use double sided lines for walls. Draw in the other direction. -

Dual Boot? xp/98 some people do that. Myk, I think, has one set up like that.
-
Yes, Set the ceiling of the door to match the surrounding floor. For example set it to zero if that matches the floor of the room you will be fighting in.
-
To add to 2 and 3 above, I will sometimes use as many as 6 monster teleport lines in a monster closet. once I release them they will go to each of the 6 destinations if the other destinations are blocked momentarily. I always add a final teleport line at the very front of the monster closet to teleport them to the back of the closet if they somehow managed to get past the other lines without teleporting because it could take awhile for them to move back away from the player once they are moving towards him.
-
waking them all at one time should be easy. Create a small square, 16x16 or whatever, in each monster closet and assign it the same sector number as a sector the player will for sure be shooting in. Force him to shoot to open door to start or, maybe or force him to shoot a monster to progress somehow. Force him to make some noise. It doesn't matter if the floor or the ceiling in the monster closet is higher or lower than in the the map the sound should "leak" through, alerting them all at one time. To the monsters they are just in the next room and will alert to the noise. After reloading a save they will sometimes go dormant again so you may need to force the shooting action again at some point or add another alert sector to the monster closet to do it all again.

Need Help Fixing Strange Bugs In PWAD For Odamex
Searcher replied to dg93's topic in WAD Releases & Development
Plus the texture wad is always preferred to be loaded after the main wad. Or in other words at the end of the load. -
Some of these are not to bad if you stick to 3 star or better rated music. http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/index.php?dir=music/

Thanks Ty for taking yet another bullet for the team. Sad that this needs to be done, but I for one am happy to see you working on it. Again, for all you do and all you have done. Thanks. Great job. Who else would have stuck with doing this for free for all these years for the good of the community?

Looks great downloading now. I am ready for a little Sunday morning fun. Thanks

Is there a Doom source port with social network plug-ins?
Searcher replied to printz's topic in Source Ports
Those share buttons annoy me. I hate them on pages. But if I saw them in a port I would disable them or quit using the port. To echo Enjay's above post. Just not a fan of that stuff getting in my way and trying to track me. Thank god for ad block plus and custom filters, among other things we can do. -
Thanks, got the PM. Will be watching soon. Really appreciate it. It is always a blast to watch someone with better skills than me blaze through a map.

Great reviews. Swims with the whales is the only I have played so far. It is very very challenging in some parts. I sure enjoyed the pain tho' Looks like there are others to get busy with on this list.

Was just playing some of the Tolwyn (David Shaw) maps. Good old school maps. Seemed odd that no one had done demos for any but just the first wad and it is his demo I think. Take a look at these, might be some fun to be had here. I sure enjoy them. http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/index.php?search=1&field=filename&word=tolwyn0&sort=time&order=asc&page=1 tolwyn01.zip: Outpost Recon http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/index.php?file=levels/doom2/Ports/s-u/tolwyn01.zip tolwyn02.zip: An Affinity for Pain http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/index.php?file=levels/doom2/Ports/s-u/tolwyn02.zip tolwyn03.wad Spacious Depot of Decay http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/index.php?file=levels/doom2/Ports/s-u/tolwyn03.zip
