It scares me

I was around... uhm...3 or 4 short after the release of Doom1. I was used to games like Commander Keen and Lemmings, but Doom with its cinematic graphics (for that time ofc) scared the shit out of me. So i not really played it, only camping at the spawn in E1M1 and shooting senseless the guns. Some time later i start real playing, with cheats ofc and without sound. Same goes later with Doom 2. My cousin had a savegame in it at the end of map12. When i got the game, i loaded the save and finished the map. When map13 was loaded and i saw for the first time the revenant i was so scared that i just ended the game and hadn't touched it for a while. I think with 10 or maybe 12 i finished for the first time Doom 1.

Da gebe ich einfach dem Umstand die Schuld das durch Smartphones einfach JEDER mittlerweile ins Internet kann. Früher (TM) hatte das ja schon einen gewissen Aufwand gebraucht. Dadurch das nun auch Lieschen Müller ins Netz kommt ist natürlich jede... nennen wir es mal Kultur... abgestorben. Man siehts ja gut am Verhalten vieler junger Leute in irgendwelchen Kommentarsektionen.

Das wird sich wohl ziemlich schwer finden lassen. Das einzigste was mir einfallen würde, wären irgendwelche Tutorials auf deutsch. (Ports, mapping etc.) Da ist dann nur die Frage ob einfach nur Übersetzungen oder eigens geschriebene. Nur dann müsste man auch die Leute, die wissen was sie tun, finden.

A Regular Day, basicly a german fork of Grezzo. Edgy like a razorblade, but in a strange way it was fun to play. :D

(The first part of the post will be in german, sorry for that!) Jahre lang habe ich in hier nur gelurked, nun habe ich mich doch registiert nur um auf diesen Post zu antworten. :D Zum Thema: Ich wusste bis zu deinem Post hier noch nichteinmal das es sowas wie DoomGate gibt/gab. Nachdem ich davon erfahren habe, habe ich mich durch das Archiv geklickt und muss sagen das ich es absolut Wahnsinn fand was da alles zusammengetragen war und das auch noch auf deutsch! Schade das ich das ganze etwas zu spät entdeckt habe. Sicher, es würde mich freuen wenn es wieder so eine tolle Idee geben würde und es weiterhin auf deutsch bleibt aber viel mehr Ideen kann ich im moment nicht beisteuern. Es war ja irgendwie alles da was man brauchte. Vielleicht auf ein modernes Design umsteigen (auch wenn ich dieses Old-School aussehen mag). Aber wem nützt das wenn es niemanden gibt sich dran beteiligen möchte... Leider kann ich viel technisches nicht beitragen denn mein "können" bezieht sich eigentlich auch nur auf Zeug per drag n' drop auf die gzdoom.exe (ganz einfach gesagt). Naja... falle es doch was gibt was man tun könnte, lass es mich wissen! Interesse an einer Mitarbeit wäre schon da. ----- For years i was just lurking the forums, but now i just registered to reply on that Post :D to the Topic: Till your post i don't even know that something like DoomGate exsisted. After that i clicked througth the archives and i must say it was absolute insane what i found there.... and even on german! Too bad i noticed it too late. Sure, i would be really happy if this idea would be reborn again and will be in german again. But sadly i can't share any new ideas for it. It was everything there what you could needed. Maybe switch on a more modern desing (even if i like this old-school look). But for what when nobody cares about it...? Sadly i can't participate much. All my "skill" is drag'n drop stuff on the gzdoom.exe. But anywaye, if there anything i could do, let me know!
