Would be nice admiring the level design for a while and boom, the invasion begins and we are crappin ourselves making sure we don't run into a mass load of zombies and imps. But i'm guessing you just go down that elevator like in the alpha, before you confront any enemies.

True it would be a last resort weapon, my guess is its more powerful than your fist (but not by much), im definetly gonna use it on zombies and the weak enemies just to save ammo. I remember in doom when you run out of ammo from over usage, not a pretty picture when your stuck with your fists.

Very nice. Is that berserker pack a helmet or a balck medikit? can't quite see it.

Yeah i mean 10 years on and it still going strong, i mean i play doom 1 over most new games like XIII, still doesn't have the same feel. I must thank the brilliant people over at doomsday HQ community for such a wonderful engine, and giving me the chance to play doom again.

Id be happy with more than one route through the levels ie, like a easy, medium or hard route through a three way corridor, and the player will choose and or regret going the way he/her choose's. I can imagine many dangerous encounters... i'd like that, give me a reason to play the levels again and again. But yes that random scripting is quite a cool idea also, be amusing watching people, "hmmm... im sure an enemy burst out here??? im scared now!"

I thought it was the marine who thought they were from hell because of what these monsters did to his fellow marine's? So there is still the possility they are alien's, but are so vile it would seem they are from hell? But thats just me... so yes as chilvence said "alien's from hell".

I can understand if the doom monster's/demon's were actually alien's (Doom 3 seems to have that whole "alien film" theme going on), it wouldn't bother me at all, coz id still want to blow them to bits. Plus it would explain that whole earth invasion of doom 2's story. But i would miss the whole hell spawn concept we all loved from the original doom, but all in all i'm not gonna cry over it, the hell knight, baron of hell and pinky demon's may be alien's rather than real hell spawn's, but they will still be one evil mother's to battle. (DSM, maybe Doom3 will answer your question of "where they came from") But then again i could be wrong, they might be demons, and all ive said is just opinion, but only ID can answer this question really.

I think the caco & pain elemental looked horrible in D64, but thats just me.

The one thing i don't want in doom 3 deathmatch, but it will be, is the stupid quake rocket physics. When someone will just shoot the floor and thats it your dead, or will shoot a rocket point blank in your face standing right in front of you and they won't get killed but you will. Happened all the time when i played Quake 2, i don't want it again.

I believe 6 DM maps come with the game, from what ive heard on previews.

I don't see what the big fuss is about, so what if it does or doesn't live up to the old doom legacy, i'm glad ID are making a new doom game period! I'm pretty sure ID won't let me down, if its made by them and they are happy with it, i'm happy with it, its their game, their idea's. So i have nothing to complain about, i'm just gonna sit back and enjoy a game worth playing.

Yeah i bet the collision detection would be a nightmare, youd get enemies stuck on polygons and all sorts, plus the models will need their polys increased for it to look any good.

I know which stetch you mean, i think that would make a good baron, but i don't want him pink though, maybe a dark red colour. To be honest i hope the baron isnt a big goat, i think it would look to cheese compared to the rest of the enemies that all look like alien incarnations. -
Yeah DSM, deathmatch needs a new kick and i guess having 4 people per server will make lag a small problem, i hope to have a 2 on 2 battle with some off you lot, if i ever see you online :D

This 4 player deathmatch idea, is a great idea imo, its like ID are taking multiplayer to a much better level, in which you have to think and be careful, rather than the Quake run, shoot, kill concept. I'm guessing that they went back to client-server rather than peer-to-peer because of the mass firewall/NATing implementations clients have nowadays.

I'm just worried what the caco may look like if they do decide to put it in D3. I'm sure they have designed it already but whether they want to put it in, is another matter. As someone has already said, all the monsters are very alien/humanoid looking so the caco may be difficult to convert into the general theme, i mean its a big red one eyed floating ball with horns, how freaky can we get :D (I just hope they dont stick an engine type attachment on like they have for the lost soul, but if the caco does make the cut i hope the pain elemental wont be far behind). Pain elemental = most annoying enemie next to archvile. -
LOL yeah, all this arguing about zombies is just making me laugh... I mean if they are called zombies in the game thats good enough for me.

Yeah, i think in one of the previews someone said they ran round a corner and shot at their own shadow, because he though it was the enemy. So i can pretty much say, yes u have one of your own in doom 3.

But yeah, i can admit i wouldn't care if the db shotgun doesnt make the cut, it was a bit too easy to kill off a pinkie in one close up shot compared to Doom 1 where it took 2-4 shotgun bursts... it would be much more scary running backwards thinking to yourself, "Fall Damn You! FALL!!!".

The zombies can smell your fear, (well some of em) you remember that zombie commando in the alpha, he says and i quote "i smell FEAR!!!" then runs off to chaingun your face, before the cut scene puts you back in control. I hope thats still in Doom 3, loved the dive and bullets going all over. :D But in the end, who cares, its only a fictional game to entertain us mindless gaming zombies.

Yeah, its a real shame about Half life 2, the git who did it needs a good kicking... i'd hate that to happen again. Hopefully ID will just be erasing sloppy coding and sharping up performance issues... maybe to make sure they don't have to keep patching the game like Quake 3.

Yeah, i don't really care for the gibs either, i like the enemy falling to my feet, so i can get a good look at it and see the artists great work. But ideally for me would be a gib similair to doom 1's animation when the rocket hits a target perfectly, they just go splat in a bloody pulp, non of this limb loss rubbish. (No offence, sounds good, but rag doll physics is good enough for me, concentrate more on getting the AI and Performance). Plus id like to see the enemie literally disintergrate or be completely vapourised when the BFG hits... maybe a black mark where the monster was standing... but thats just me :D

But then again, now that i look at that picture i don't think those pictures are to scale, i mean the pistol will need two hands its that big :D

Even though i made a huge mistake early in this thread and shouldn't show my text in public, i'm here to say... can't we just except that the weapons are well designed and should be glad ID decided to bring all the original doom weapons back instead of replacing them all with new weapons similiar to Unreal's batch... (Saying that, i havent seen the best doom weapon yet = Double Barrel Shotgun)
