Come on... i think the technique used on the models is one of the most impressive ive seen yet, who cares if they are blocky, the bump mapping alone makes the models look good. I would rather have a low polygon count if it meant this game will run better on my machine, than increase the count up on all the models and slow the frame rate. And yes i agree, Quakes colours were just brown and grey :) Bring on the colour i say, even though the game is soooo dark, we wont notice. ;D

Oh right, silly me... Man i thought it was the BFG... i see your point now, its huge for the plasma rifle!!! I thought it was a picture of all the old doom weapons remade for doom 3, pardon my mistake... (Lectrix goes to hide in a dark doom 3 corridor, never find me.)

Who cares if they look odd and or bulky, aslong as they do the job, thats all im worried about. I think the designs are pretty damn good,Plasma Rifle -looked like the BFG to me :( looks nice and meaty, love the look of that chainsaw and i agree with Tyockell when he said that Shotgun looks top notch.

I hope they stick to the way the alpha leaves blood marks and the way the blood sprayed and stuck to walls behind them, that impressed me... i mean i dont wanna shoot a monster in the foot and the texture changes to a mass bloody mess.

The new preview article on the "computergaming" site is a little more of a teaser aswell as those nice screenies. The best part was this: "A huge monstrosity fills the screen for a split second. "Oops, I don't think I was supposed to show you that!" The unnamed Jurassic demon is so big it can't be seen in its entirety in one screen. While Scott can't go into detail on what it is, he assures me that this isn't the final boss. Now that's a scary thought." Something tells me that Doom 2's final boss may be walking around out there!!! Hardly contain myself :)

Well from watching the e3 trailer (the bit where the rocket launcher is fired and the zombies fall down that long pit), i can say it looks very much like sprites (probably bump mapped for a more 3d depth) imo.

Can we not accept that ID know what they are doing, its their game, their story, they can turn it into aliens if they want it makes no difference to me coz you can't please everyone. I trust that ID will make an ace game, if you want a story read the novels or wait for the film (dreading the film though, look at mortal kombat (YUCK!)) :P But you never know, the story might be brilliant once weve been through it and understand it in full, rather than making hunch's thats its gonna be cheese fest (hmmm note: make mod for doom 3 so zombies bleed cheese).

Its obvious, has anyone not played doom and quake and learned by now that the corpses will stay there till level is complete. Plus if they do decay what will the arch-vile do in his spare time... and in the doom alpha, notice the corpses stayed, and you couldnt gib em like in quake 2... archvile with have a field day if its AI lets him navigate whole levels!!! Agghhh scared myself now...

ahhh rockets are cheap weapons for people who can't aim. Real skillful players will use weapons like the shotgun and the machine gun type weapons, coz i hated quake when youd be fighting someone and peeps would just shoot a rocket at the floor and kill everyone. Cheap and nasty imo. So i'm glad you can shoot rockets out of the air (hope its easy to do too)

Yeah i agree with dsm on this, the new creature sounds exactly like the vore from Quake 1, plus the archviles new summon monster attack sounds exactly like the medic commander from Quake 2's expansion pack: Ground Zero. All in all, still good concepts even though un-original, i mean the arch ville was bad enough, now he is one hellish creature! ID get it out now, you know you wanna :D

Agreed, i don't like secondary fire half the time, seems a waste imo, if your gonna shoot something just shoot it. Plus the grenade launcher in Q2 was one of my Favs, don't change a good thing. :D ID have been in the game industry a LONG time, im sure they know what makes good game mechanics, i trust them on this flashlight issue, sounds fun, i mean yeah we could have the a pistol in one hand, but wheres the fun in that, i remember trying to punch the cyber demon for kicks...

If Doom 3 ends up being a super graphical and clever AI (Clever as in not run into walls) version of Quake 2 with all the original Doom cast then it will be a god send for me... coz i loved doom and quake 2's basic story yet amazing gameplay.

Is it just me, or is anyone else getting the impression Doom 3 must be on the brink of completion... this new stuff like box art, website preview launch etc... i think either ID like annoying the hell out of us or its suttle hints of game coming very soon. (Lectrix crosses fingers for 10th anniversary date - but he knows its too good to be true.)

Na i'd prefer it if it auto saved after each level, otherwise id be saving it every 5 seconds on some of the harder levels, and itll just spoil it for me. :( Problem is if the levels massive youd have to redo the level from the start if killed right at the end.

Although it's not my game so i don't care if they change it all, its up to the big boys at ID and we should just accept that its gonna be good no matter if its alien type doom monsters.

I like the look of Doom 3's monsters, lets face it aliens are a bit more realistic than demons from hell, and a combination of the two is what i think ID are trying to aim at. Plus i think the hell knight won't look no where near as scary if it was a big goat man.

Ok i love the doom enemie's new look, very Alien imo... But i'm finding it hard to decide which looks the best (new or old) or which is the best remade from the original... gimme some comments peeps :D I don't like the human adaptation of the Lost Soul would have prefered a skull's head on a flying machine. But i love the Hell Knights extreme resize and musclular body plus looks evil as hell.

I don't really care what music they use, coz i'm gonna turn it off anyway (I never had the music on during FPS games) i prefer to listen for my enemies coming... plus doom would be shit scary with the sound effects of demons moaning and the machinery churning. ( ahhh remembers the original when the cyber demon was slowly getting louder :D )

Damn, i hoped ID was secretly planing to release it on the 10th anniversary, but not tell anyone (except the retailers) and i was to walk into GAME and just wander past the shelf and see Doom 3 sitting there laughing at me, till i realise its not an illusion. :D

LOL gatewatcher, it would be like the evil monsters inc :D I'm not sure what they are meant to be, since the original doom sprites don't exactly give you much detail, but i always thought the idea of them wearing pants was quite amusing... :) and i guess if it is fur (doubt it though) they just cant be arsed shaving in hell... Plus im glad the imps can still throw fireballs (forgot to mention in last post) and ive noticed they can guess where your moving and compensate for it rather than firing it straight. Plus i like the way the imps avoid your fire by dodging your attack IM GONNA LOVE THIS GAME!. -
Plus one of the demons is called a pinky, so if thats not realism i dont know what is ;D
