  1. I've only really played Quake 2 Remaster MP modes in terms of arena shooters, but I don't think you need to bunnyhop to be successful at them. I'm generally awful at aiming in FPS games, singleplayer or otherwise, but there were times that I nearly won a round in Quake 2 MP and I never felt like I needed to bunnyhop to succeed. I think what "killed" arena shooters is the fact that trends are always changing and people tend to follow whatever the next trend is until the next one comes along and so on. Many people get tired of thing, new thing comes along and they like it, then they get tired again and want to move on.
  2. I've tried making vanilla maps on and off and I've chosen to try again, but it would help to know the size of a typical vanilla map (like an original Doom map) and the maximum size supported by vanilla/vanilla-adjacent sourceports (like Woof, DSDA, Doom Retro, etc).

Ah, I see. Thank you for answering (and 5.0 is a great improvement btw, I like the new stuff).

I'm a bit curious, are the skies supposed to look like this in the fullscreen HUD?

DSDHacked means SD21 works with DR now, right? Edit: Nvm, it does work now. Though both volume sliders were all the way down when I first booted it up, I'm assuming that's not intentional?
  6. Have you come across an issue in Ironwail where the HUD/crosshair doesn't act like they're supposed to in stuff like Arcane Dimensions? Even if I turn the crosshair off in the config, the crosshair will come back the next time I open AD.
  7. I'd say it's worth the switch for at least for the mod menu, access to the Quake Enhanced mod server, and the performance of most maps.

    Quake II Remastered

I think Quake and Quake 2 having a shared universe isn't too far-fetched. My own headcanon is the Strogg we see in Quake 1 are ancient Strogg who had no free will until the Ranger comes along and kills Shub. With Shub gone, the Strogg could begin to figure out the human/alien tech that Shub had strategically acquired, which would eventually lead to the Strogg we see in Quake 2. As for motives, the Strogg probably lost a lot of their civilization under Shub's command and built up their tech and armies in the time since in order to avenge their dead.
  9. Does anyone know if the Dark Forces remaster will be a free upgrade or a separate thing?

At least one of the Homer Simpson skins is here, but I haven't tried downloading it: https://dondeq2.com/2018/01/11/mike-ds-quake-ii-models-skins-page/
  11. After playing F.E.A.R. for the first time this week, it could definitely use at least a remaster or have its remaining issues patched up. If anything, there needs to be improvements to the character models to make them look less dead-eyed/stoned. A faithful remake would be pretty neat too, provided they get the gameplay just right in comparison to the original.

You put them in User>[whatever your account name is for your PC]>Saved Games>Nightdive Studios>Quake 2>baseq2>players, or at least that's where I had to put them for it to work.

Do the player skins only show if using the old graphics or only for other players?

How do you install skins for Quake 2?

    Quake II Remastered

Oh okay. That would be a nightmare, now that you mention it.
