a most unusual occurrence on this very day over at the doomwiki

the only thing i disagree with is the level information. fandom has a lot more trivia or other little things for the original trilogy levels, and then with doom 64 its actually filled out. for some reason on the real doomwiki, the majority of the doom 64 levels are completely missing sections like “statistics” and secrets, even though its a mainstream title (not fan-made) and has been out since 1997

oh wow okay, I apologize. i will not use fandom unless it is to carry info from it to the real wiki if I notice a stub

oh no, you misunderstood. i did not edit the page. i didn’t edit it at all. i was GOING TO edit it, but then I clicked the back button on my phone before I even clicked on the text area. i 100% did not edit it, but it was showing the thing that I was planning on editing it with. and now it doesn’t anymore. that was the whole point of this post, because that was pretty crazy that something like that happened and I cannot figure out how or why

i did not edit it, but it still showed the thing that I was PLANNING on editing it with! thats the crazy thing. i guess for now I will just stick with fandom, since it has so many more complete sections

    jumping in doom 64?

is this only in the Doom 64 TC? the doomwiki seems to act like its a feature in the normal vanilla game

    jumping in doom 64?

actually it says “Get a bullet weapon ready and run there, passing two chasms (jumping helps a lot here, you should have completed MAP32: Hectic before). Hit the switch and a platform will temporarily lower back the way you came.” without saying anything about TC

    jumping in doom 64?

its here and there mentioned as a useful tactic on certain level walkthroughs (such as for map 29) without mentioning its exclusive to TC

    jumping in doom 64?

it does. thats where I got this from, thats the whole reason I made this post. i’ve been using the individual walkthrough sections, and a few of the levels it will say something like “jumping is helpful in this section, provided you previously completed Hectic” without mentioning anything about that being exclusive to TC. Also, I have always used doomwiki.org, but just recently I looked at a few articles on the infamous and highly hated fandom one, and that one seems to have more content on it. a lot more levels from main-series games have empty or absent “trivia” sections in doomwiki compared to fandom, as well as the majority of the levels for Doom 64 are completely missing item/weapon/enemy statistics. ive also just noticed there will be generally an extra section or two, or an extra paragraph here and there, on the fandom site, with the rest being verbatim copied from doomwiki. with that being said why is doomwiki considered better when it is missing content compared to fandom?

Is this the total canon for the life and times of Doomguy?

i thought it was just a given since final Doom is after Doom II and then Doom 64 is vague enough for it to work just fine. you are a hardened, traumatized lone survivor of a number of hell related events, and now the first one turns out to be incomplete. thats pretty much it

Is this the total canon for the life and times of Doomguy?

yeah I agree with you. i just thought he meant multiple universes as in like how the toby maguire spiderman movies are in a different universe from the new spiderman movies. with a different doomguy and all that. and yes I agree about the wads, but I believe the multitude of community doom ii wads that exist, if they are canon, take place between doom 64 and doom 2016
  12. What I mean is that the game is not by default designed around that difficulty. Because that cubby was designed specifically to house the blue key, and it was altered for the bring it on difficulty
  13. In map 1 the blue keycard is next to the switch, instead of in the room opened by the switch, on the default difficulty, which makes me think the default difficulty is not canon, which is a very strange decision on midways part. Are there any other major non-enemy count differences like this?
  14. I have read that this was the case for the N64 version. I also read on another thread here that someone beat the campaign, and then went to play the fun levels but they didn't have the features menu anymore. does it go away in the new PS4 version? Also, does the PS4 version save your passwords, the way the N64 would if you had a controller pack memory card?
  15. In the classic of Ultimate Doom, Doom II, and heck-even Final Doom. What I wonder is "what difficulty are the main menu screen default 'demos' being played with?" " '
  16. Because you lose the features menu if you quit the game and reload from a password, and you unlock the features menu after beating the first level. So did they intend for you to play the first level, then the secret level, then the 3 fun levels, and then the main campaign after the 3rd fun level takes you back to level 1? I am thinking this must be the case, since for some reason the 3rd fun level exits back into level 1, instead of just taking you back to the menu like the other fun levels. I'm playing it on PS4 and I was planning on playing the fun levels after beating the campaign, but now I tried the password system to load my game, and all it did was make the features menu go away, and now I am loading it back again from the load game menu and I still don't have it, so I will have to go all the way back and start a new game in order to get the features menu back. This is really bullshit and making me wonder why they made it like this, or how they intended you to play it.
  17. that is a great idea. keep a save at the end of Hectic and then play the main-frame-game on save slot number 1, play the fun levels up-and-upon save slot number 2, play-em-up for your “lost levels” up-‘n-on “save slot three”, up-and-then stick your map-forty-lost-levels-fun-level right there on your save slot number 4. how does that sound to you you think?
  18. unfortunately your answer did not work, I did lose the features menu after loading from a password. I’m going to start the game over this time only saving and loading
  19. Hey wow I did not know you worked for Nightdive, that is awesome. Thank you for this port. I have a question. Do you know, if I only use the save/load function exclusively, and never use the password menu, if the features menu will stay around? Because it only went away when I tried out the password for the first time. Also, do you know why the ability to map hotkeys for weapons is available on the Xbox but not on the PS4? The ports for classic Doom 1 and 2 for these consoles have the d-pad automatically mapped to certain weapons which makes it quicker than scrolling. If I need to go from my fist to my rocket launcher, I can’t do it without it automatically stopping after 3 Or 4 presses, so I’ll go from my fist to my super Shotgun and then to my rocket launcher, and this makes it a lot harder. also, do you know why sprinting is not bound to L2 by default? Because sprinting is unbound my default, and L2 is used for action, which already also has “x” bound for it. By default you have to toggle the sprint on or off, and just in general there are a few things are just not bound at all by default, such as quicksave. Finally, I was wondering, do you know if the maps this game were originally designed/tested with pistol-starting in mind, the way that 1 and 2 were? sorry for all these questions, thank you again.
  20. Im just trying to do a single, canon, complete play through. And everything was fine from Ultimate Doom all the way through Plutonia, until this game came along and is so effin stressful with the way its designed. I wish they just didn't even have these fun levels or secret features menu, especially if its just going to disappear when you load a game
  21. yeah exactly and that's after the very first level
  22. I am confused is this an inside joke or somethin??
  23. so they intended for people to play the fun levels before the main game?
  24. So I have OCD, so with Doom 64, I have a dillema. If I see a zombieman standing next to a barrel, and it looks like the developer intended for me to gib him with that barrel, and I miss and kill him with my gun... I can’t move on until I get it right. So I’ll load up my quicksave but the I’m thinking wait a minute, this game didn’t have a quicksave when it came out, so damn you know? Do I start the whole level over? Sheeee-it.
