Is this the total canon for the life and times of Doomguy?

It would not make sense to have every Doom 2 wad after Plutonia and before Doom 64. Doomguy is still a normal human in Doom 64, with PTSD from Doom/Doom2/FinalDoom. It isn’t until after he decides to stay in Hell at the end of Doom 64 that he becomes the inter dimensional Doomslayer.
  2. In Plutonia from the “add-ons” menu of Bethesdas Doom II source port (steam, switch, xbone, ps4) in map 28: Sewers. If you reload a quicksave after you have already picked up the red key, and left the area where it is located, the ambush will not teleport in after you flip the switch behind the red door, unless you go back into the red key room and fire a weapon first.

Why does UV-Max not include items?

Or even when it’s not even explicity “uv-max” official run, people always say “oh and we are gonna be getting 100% kills and secrets”. Why have 100% items never been a part of this? It seems like a true uv max would be 100% completing the level, including the items category
  4. This is an interesting topic that still seems to be up for debate. Despite the second chapter of Final Doom being 14 years old, the last thread could not come to an agreement on this. We know that chapter 1 takes place on Earth, at the United States UAC base located in Africa. The mystery, however, has to so with whether chapters 2 and 3 also take place on Earth, chapters 2 and 3 both take place in Hell, or chapter 2 takes place on Earth and chapter 3 takes place in Hell. Based on the format laid out by Doom II: Hell on Earth, as well as the first half of Final Doom, TNT: Evilution, it would follow that the only chapter taking place in Hell would be the 3rd one. However, chapter 2 has a red sky very reminiscent of the red sky we see in Evilution’s Hell levels. With that being said, the intermission text-screen at the end of chapter 1 says nothing about Doomguy heading into Hell, as it normally would. Surprisingly, neither does the text at the end of Chapter 2. Could The Plutonia Experiment be the only game in the Doom franchise that takes place on Earth alone in its entirety? One user on the last thread seems to think so. How can we get to the bottom of this? Does anyone know how to reach out to the Brothers Casali, or even id? Has there been any further info published about this, other than the game manual’s backstory, and the in-game text-screens?

Why does UV-Max not include items?

Its strange though because most items are tied to secrets, or found along the path to the secrets and the exits, at least in official iwads none are really all that out of the way

Figuring out Plutonia’s setting: Chapters 2 and 3

I am Really glad I’m not the only one who loves to overanalyze the afterthoughts of canon of classic doom games lol. I like this theory
  8. This is confusing to me. Normally you don't go to hell until the final 1/3rd of the game, the last chapter. This is the case with Doom and Doom II, as well as TNT: Evilution. According to the Doomwiki, chapter 1 takes place on Earth. This is confirmed by the games backstory and plot. However, the Doomwiki says that chapter 2 is in Hell (the sky is red so that could be?). The thing is that there is no text indication of this. Normally whenever Doomguy goes to Hell, the intermission screen somehow indicates it. I forget what the screen said after Map 11 but I know it didn't mention going to Hell. According to the Doom wiki, chapter 1 is on the earth base, chapter 2 is in Hell, and chapter 3 is in a specific section of Hell called the Devil Hive. Do we know for sure that chapter 2 is meant to be Hell, and not just a corrupted amalgamation of Earth and Hell, as was the case for all 3 previous games?

Does the 2nd chapter of The Plutonia Experiment take place in Hell?

I thought it was implied that you reached the "accelerator deep inside the ravaged complex" at the end of map 7. It was guarded by the cyberdemon, and then the story text says how you can't find it, so the demons must have taken it somewhere else. I figured the gatekeeper led the mission to steal the accelerator and take it into Hell, and then Doomguy had to go into Hell to retrieve it from them. Why would the devil hive not be in Hell? Where would that be?
  10. In Evilution we face the "Demon-Spitter" that led the flesh-ship attack on Jupiter's Moon (either Europa or Io). In Plutonia we defeat the "Gatekeeper" who attempted to fill the shoes of the Icon of Sin, orchestrating the second and final attempt at a takeover of Earth in Doomguys native universe. Both of these demons look identical to the Icon of Sin. So now that the newer games have been confirmed as canon to the classics, what exactly were these demons? Were they all just the Icon of Sin? Did Doomguy just injure the Icon in Doom II and TNT, and then finally kill him in Plutonia? Or are these demons simply "Titans", the species? We can see that there are multiple titans carrying the unholy cathedrals in Doom Eternal, so were the Gatekeeper and the Demonspitter just OTHER titans, and the Icon of Sin is like the head titan? What do you all think?
  11. So I just now realized something about this map that was actually a very interesting detail from the map’s designer. There is this room in the level, that you cannot go into. You are only able to see the room through a little sliver of a window. The room has 3 lost souls in it, who also cannot reach you to attack, and killing them is optional. It just now dawned on me what this room is. Those are literal lost souls! They are imprisoned in that room. The design of it is actually rather creepy might I add. The stone brick walls that are eternally sealing them inside, the backdrop of an entire wall that is a massive fire burning perpetual wood. The little piles of fire scattered around the room like that. This is probably very random but I was just noticing and appreciating this little touch making Hell feel more like Hell.

What can cause an enemy not to teleport?

I’m having a glitch at the end of Map 18: Mill on TNT Evilution. In the cyberdemon area, I believe there is a zombie that didn’t teleport in for some reason. I am missing 1 kill, and the whole map is clear except for that I can hear a lower tier enemy grunting and groaning whenever I walk near the chaingunner/hell knight teleporter, which is right next to a wall with a hole (like an inaccessible room that they are stored in before teleporting). What might cause him not to teleport? I’m gonna do the map again but I don’t want the same thing to happen because it’s a longer map and this is at the very end before the exit! Thank you!

I'm a bit confused by the lore tbh

I think what they mean is "the only way a titan can be permanently killed, without the chance of being resurrected, is if you kill it with a crucible". So since you originally killed the IOS with a rocket launcher, it was able to be resurrected

I'm a bit confused by the lore tbh

Here is how it works. Doomguy is a normal marine, then the events of Ultimate Doom, Doom II: Hell on Earth, Final Doom, and Doom 64 happen (over the course of maybe 10 years idk). Then at the end of Doom 64, Doomguy decides to stay in Hell forever to kill demons. Eventually, they entomb him, then, the UAC in an alternate, parallel universe to the one Doomguy was born in start messing with Hell and discover Doomguys tomb. Then the events of Doom and Doom Eternal happen. So there is only one Doomguy, only one Hell, but there are many parallel universes with Earth and Mars, a multiverse, its as simple as that.

What can cause an enemy not to teleport?

No it’s just the original pc version porter to PS4 via the “classic doom” source port by Bethesda

What can cause an enemy not to teleport?

I just went through the whole map again, and quicksaved at the end. One time it worked and everyone teleported in, but then I reloaded and did something slightly different, went somewhere else while they were teleporting or something, and then the same problem happened again. So something must be triggering him to not teleport

What can cause an enemy not to teleport?

Well I’m playing on the PS4 version so I can’t really do that unfortunately. I’ll just go through it again
  19. It doesn’t seem to make sense to me. I will have it checked to search for any of the words in the search term, and checked to search within both the body and title of all posts of all time, but somehow no results come up. I searched up “Evilution” both with and without quotes. Does this mean that nobody on any thread on this entire website has ever written the word evilution? That can’t possibly be, so what gives exactly? What am I doing wrong? If I want to search something on this forum I pretty much have to just go to google and type in “site:doomworld.com (insert search term)” I have searched a lot of other words and phrases too. “Canon”, etc. with no results.
  20. Okay awesome. Thank you @sponge
  21. So I’m at the end of the map and I am missing a bunch of kills. I am playing on PS4, the recent “classic doom” port, via the add-ons menu within Doom II. I only have 79/113 kills. I see a lot of info about the yellow key glitch, but nothing about this. Is this a glitch or am I just missing something else? I’m hoping I can go back. I went through bigmacdavis’ walkthrough and he encountered a bunch of shotgunners in hidden windows that I did not. I assumed this was because I am playing on Hurt me Plenty and he is on UV, but then I encountered this strange 2D shotgunner stuck in the ceiling https://imgur.com/ZH0mJgw
  22. But how would you do that on the PS4 ?
  23. Do you know if it is possible to get all the kills on Pharaoh for the PS4 currently?
  24. So pretty much that means its not doable on this new Bethesda port? Well at least they have the fixed yellow key version in this, but I guess that glitch is so infamous it overshadowed this one. That must mean they didn’t use the TNT patch to fix the yellow key but instead did it manually I guess
