Would you care if you'd be the bad guy in Doom?

lol. I was going to include him on my list, originally. I put in The Joker instead.

Pros and cons of doom, the BFG edition

Yeah, that kinda sucks. I like like what they did with the Unity Port, though. It censors the levels for Nazi-symbolism banning countries, but still keeps the whole vibe to it. The BFG version was just censored to the extreme, and the levels felt like they had absolutely no reference to Wolfenstein in them.
  3. No it isn't, but there are enough moron millionaires that are like, "I worked hard for this money, now how can I waste it all?" I think this is how Mike Tyson went bankrupt.

the best way to go about finding it is by adding /teams to the homepage URL. there's actually a bunch of stuff you can access just by adding them to the homepage URL.

He has a friggin' bunny for crying out loud! last time I checked, Darth Vader, Voldemort, and Joker don't have pet bunnies.
  7. This is more of a what if, but still a question I'd like to ask the community. Would you like to see a remake/reboot/modern console port of Quake? Some talk about it has started over at the DOOM Unity Port Thread, and I thought that maybe I could move the conversation over to here, where the conversation can be more focused on the topic. With the release of DOOM on modern platforms, I feel like Quake would be the obvious next choice. It is an amazing game, that I'm sure many would enjoy it with new content. Although the modding scene for Quake is not that large, I would love to see official add-ons for it like they did for DOOM, and I would love to see those custom levels from the N64 version of Quake 2 be available on all platforms. So, what do you think? Is Quake an obvious choice for a remake/reboot/console port, or do you think ID and Bethesda's talents are better suited for somewhere else?

Should there be a new Quake Port?

I'd actually prefer this thread to be locked. the other thread is more relevant, and the question being asked here has already been answered Also, here is the new thread by lazygecko

Don't make a public team. they are not really enjoyed by Mods and are rarely if ever approved.
  10. Hey, I've seen this a bit on Reddit, and although it works a bit different due to that websites layout, I came up with a way to make it work here on Doomworld. This is the Edited Q & A Thread. Here, normal questions will be asked, and somebody will answer them. But then, that original poster of the question will edit their question to make the answer a strange answer to the question. here is an example Person 1 Person 2 Now the first person goes back and edits their question post, to make this, This makes it seem like the second person answered with a strange/funny answer to an already strange question. This is how we will make it work on Doomworld Rules In order to make this work, you must only answer the question above you. That means only 1 person can respond to each question If you do answer, don't edit your answer later. this could make the question/answer no longer funny If you do answer, you MAY write your own question, though it is not required. if you are next after an answer post with no question in it, just start writing your own question When you answer a question, do not quote it. it does not change when the first person edits their post Do not edit your question before there is an answer do not start a new question before the previous question was answered not required, but I recommend Pinging the questioner so they can edit their post. Get writing!

    Romero reveals Sigil 2

Lol. I swear before this announcement everybody was like I hope he does a 32 level megawad for DOOM 2 next and now that it has been announced, people are like I don't know if he should do this. Sigil wasn't that great.

    Romero reveals Sigil 2

I was really anticipating a DeHackEd Baphomet fight in Si6il. I get Romero wanted to keep it Vanilla, but come on! Usually the Cyberdemon takes out the SM and then it takes a couple of shots to down the Cyberdemon. At the very least he could have used 2+ Cybies or 2+ SM so there isn't any infighting. Hopefully the boss of Si6il 2 will be a bit more fun.

    Quake Remastered

This probably DRM is sort of a new word to me, but I feel like it wouldn't change the game all too much. if you could explain further, that would be helpful. Don't know why Achievements or ranking is a bad thing. It makes completionists happy, and if you aren't a completionist, you can just choose to ignore it. Considering that this is the same people that made the Unity Port, I wouldn't imagine there being Pay2win unlockables. I imagine it being pretty faithful to the original. Maybe. Hopefully not, but good thing there are patches for this type of stuff. Not entirely sure what you mean, But I assume you're talking about Add-ons like for the Doom Unity port. Even then, I'm not too sure what you mean by this. Could you also explain this a bit more.

    Doom Absolution / Doom 64 2 research

I always hate how people place graphics above gameplay. On Quora there was this person that asked why people play DOOM if it looks so bad. Like, is that the only thing that matters to people? Skyrim is an incredible RPG, but it has some pretty mediocre graphics. Most people know that the graphics are like that because the world of Skyrim is huge, but there are still people I'm sure would love the game that don't play it because it looks crappy. Critics always take that into account, as well. When playing a game, the graphics don't have to look realistic for me to have a good time. I want good gameplay. that was one of the many issues with games like Battlefront 2, EA did their best to create incredible graphics that look realistic, but the end product of their game was pretty sub-par. I know gameplay wasn't the only issue with Battlefront 2, but it definitely contributed to its negative reviews. edit: Sorry for getting off-topic for a sec.

    Doom Absolution / Doom 64 2 research

dude, if one of these days it's announced that they're releasing Absolution in an update for the Doom 64 rerelease, I will die. That's 100% true. I will just fall to the floor dead. they won't know exactly what killed me, but it will be that announcement.

    What Song Makes You Cry?

I'm not a very emotional person, strangly. I've never cried to a song, but I almost cry to these songs. In My Life by the Beatles is such a beautiful song to me and I always feel happy when I hear it. Sittin on a Dock of a Bay by Otis Redding is such a sad song to me. Not only does its lyrics have a sad meaning behind them, but this is one of the last songs Redding recorded before his death. it always reminds me of what else there could have been from an amazing soul.
  23. Hello Everybody! Chip here, once again! When many think of ID Software, they think of games like DOOM, Wolfenstein, Quake, Rage, maybe even Commander Keen. But, ID software has many games outside of these franchises. Perhaps you remember Dangerous Dave or Rescue Rover. but when people think of ID, they rarely think of Orcs & Elves. On May 1st, 2006 a new app was added to phone app stores. Made from the previously praised DOOM RPG engine, a new, totally original game was created by ID Software. Inspired by Norse Mythology and magical stories, Orcs & Elves was born. John Carmack developed the game with Fountainhead Entertainment, which would later be ID Mobile. The game was published by EA Moblile. Orcs & Elves was played through the first-person perspective of an Elf named Elli. Elli is the son of the Elven hero Eol. Elli wields the magical wand Ellon. Elli himself never speaks a word in the game, and cannot be seen outside of his first-person view. Instead, Ellon the magical wand speaks for the elf. This is borrowed from past games like Doom and Quake where the protagonist has very little backstory for the player to feel as if they are the protagonists. Mobile game fight example. The story centers around Elli and Eol getting a message from a Dwarf King Brahm, who rules Mount Zharrkarag. The heroes travel to Mount Zharrkarag and are informed by a dwarven ghost that the dwarves are under attack by Orcs, and you are the only hope to save the kingdom. After defeating the warlord Bruul who you believe designed the attack, you learn that the Dark Elven Sorceresses Kai'Laria is behind the whole invasion. After draining her immense power, you, the hero, imprison her in cavern walls, and the Dwarven Kingdom thanks you for your heroics. Each level of the game is set up in a maze-like area, with the player trying to make their way around. There is a basic leveling up system and a trading system with gold, as well. The combat in the game is turn-based. There are power-ups and weapons to choose from, as well as a health system. Elli Concept Art. Elli is never actually seen in-game, only in the concept art which is accessible on the DS Port Later, in November 2007, the game was ported to the Nintendo DS, with the HUD no longer existing, and replaced with a Touch-screen controller on the bottom half of the device. The DS version also added 2 extra levels to the game with its own little story. Nintendo DS Game Cover. Rated T After its release on Phones, the game got pretty high reviews, with IGN giving the game a 8.4/10, and 1UP.Com giving the game an A grade. The DS version of the game got worse reviews, though still very high, averaging about an 8/10 rating on most platforms. Game Informer disliked the game, mentioning that it was a crappy fantasy game and that you could make a better one on RPG Maker. Orcs & Elves won several awards the year it came out. IGN named it the best RPG of E3 2006 in the wireless category; best mobile game at the 10th annual Interactive Achievement Awards; Best Story for the best of 2006 wireless awards by IGN; and The Village Voice named it one of the best games of 2006. In late 2007, Orcs & Elves spawned a sequel titled Orcs & Elves 2. Though the game seems to be a direct sequel to the first game based on its name, the story does not relate to the first. Orcs & Elves 2 follows a thief Elf Valin stealing the magical Wand Ellon from its previous owner, and Valin tries to gain the wands' trust. The game was not praised as much as its predecessor, never getting a DS port. Wraith Enemy attacking player Orcs & Elves was the next original game by ID Software after Quake. Now, the only way to play it is on the original Nintendo DS. If you have one, you might be able to grab a copy for about 10 bucks. This game has faded into obscurity over the years, but perhaps one day mobile ID games will be remastered for modern phones, and people will be able to enjoy these games once more · Check out the Orcs & Elves Archived Website here!
  24. Most I could find are pre-owned. Otherwise, it's like 50 bucks new. the lowest price I could find if you're in America. it's pre-owned and 8 bucks USD. Not sure what out of country delivery would cost. It seems like a very interesting game. If it was made available for other platforms, I would be excited to play it.
  25. @Boaby Kenobi lol. I haven't seen that video. funny that the titles are similar (I've since then changed it). I didn't see that thread since I was inactive on the forums during that period. Thank you!
