Absolutely. Matter of fact they should also add a battle pass, lootcrates, cosmetics, the list goes on

How the fuck are any of these even remotely similar? Achievements are just a secondary reward system that gives certain people a sense of accomplishment and a reason to play a game more/in different ways. The other things you mentioned are exploitative business practices designed to nickel and dime a player. They're not the same thing at all.

Wow. First of all, thanks for getting he definition of rude wrong. How is this rude? It says Doom II, which I thought was obvious, and I didn't say anything like, "Bruh thre hell are you talking about, you're a fucking idot, lololol," I was just adressing he was saying the wrong thing. I am thankful he was trying to help, but he wasn't giving the right answers. Second, I am not demanding it now. I am just asking for it. Like, where am I saying something like, "I can't wait forever." I've been waiting just playing Doom. And I was having a good time until this comment showed up. You just confuse me man. Like, read the forum again, and realize you were wrong.

May I also suggest not getting super butthurt when people give you constructive feedback. It's not a great look.

Make maps you'd like to play. Nothing more to it.

This. If you enjoy your map, people with similar tastes will also enjoy it. Make something you find fun, and don't worry about anything else. When you're playing other maps take note of things you like and things you don't like and try to incorporate the things you like into your maps and avoid the things you don't like. What makes a map good is subjective. Some people like hard maps, some people don't. Some people like massive maps, some people only like short maps. Make what makes you happy.

Bruh... Read the thing. I said Doom II. Not Doom I.

Being rude to people who are trying to help you is a surefire way to have no one else want to reply. May I suggest not being a dick in the future, and also googling the word patience. Demanding answers right this second while a large portion of this site is either asleep or at work isn't going to get you anywhere.

  5. I love playing around with UDMF Dynamic lighting, but everything else I prefer mapping in Boom/MBF/Doom format just because it often forces me to just make a map and focus on encounters rather than extraneous stuff. I'd love an easier implementation of coloured lighting to some sourceports though.

  6. Not megawads, but I replay Crumpets, Antaresian Reliquary, Hell Ground, and Paradise pretty often.

For actual megawads: Sunlust, Eviternity, Valiant, Nostalgia, Kama Sutra, Epic 2, Resurgence, and Scythe 2 are megawads I've completed more than once and enjoy coming back to.

  7. Level Name: Deluge.

    Completion time: 3-4 minutes.

Midi: Wake of a Dream - Ribbiks

    Sky Texture: SKYHX3C from 32in24-15.wad.

    Tested with DSDA-Doom.

This map was tougher to put together than it seemed. The concept meant that I had to severely limit myself in terms of detailing as more sectors would mess up the voodoo doll timings and stuff.

  8. I'm pretty sure it was the first Resident Evil game - or at least I can't recall any before then. I would have been about 6 or 7, and I played it was my uncle's. I was raised by grandparents for the first half of my childhood, and he was only 10 years older than me so he still lived at home and let me play his PS1. Started a lifelong love affair with the series and horror as a whole.

  9. I found removing any subscription services I have helped. Gamepass ain't worth shit if all it does is add to the choice paralysis.

With RPGs I feel ya. The amount of games I've restarted because "that other class might be better" is ridiculous. ARPGs like Diablo are the worst because I want to know I'm having the most fun with my playthrough as possible. Stuff like Dragon's Dogma 2 letting me swap class at any moment is honestly a godsend.

  10. I try to find most secrets and kills if I can. If I can't after a little bit of searching its not the end of the world though, but if say I get to the end of a map and there's 100 monsters left I haven't found I gotta know what that is.

  11. Damn I've been playing this for a minute and didn't even realise it was the dwmegawad game this month. I'm up to map 20 so I'll start giving more detailed descriptions then. I'll say for now this is the first time I've tried playing a megawad completely saveless. Just honestly wanted to see what it was like and a lot of people said it helps improve your skills. Figured I'd start with an easier set comprised of short levels. So far Map 31's been the only one to give me much trouble, but it was really satisfying to work out. The last fight's really easy if you just run out since there's a monster blocking line def.

On to the map we're up to today, I actually find this map a little bit tedious. The Doomcute is adorable and since I'm a huge fan of horror the grave setting and nods to evil dead do tickle my fancy, but I find the detailing tends to get in the way of gameplay, making what would be incredibly easy fights super obnoxious because you've run into a grave stone or uneven bit of ground. I still like the level, but it's definitely not a highlight for me.

  12. I think playing around with the editor helped my skill more than any particular wad. It more easily taught me the enemies, their strengths and limitations, and what an author could potentially be asking of me outside of "Shoot stuff."

I don't necessarily think any particular wad helped me more than any other, I think it was cumulative knowledge. I used to hate slaughter and combat challenges, then one day it clicked because I'd gained the skills necessary to understand what was being asked of me and because I opened up an editor and saw how fun those scenarios were to come up with.

Also, don't worry about getting good. I found a long time ago that the subjective quality of a wad is what matters most. If I like it, I'll find a way to beat it. If it doesn't tickle my fancy I'm more likely to throw in the towel at the first sign of struggle. Just work out what you like and play that - and if something seems cool but is too hard either bang your head against it or lower the difficulty. I generally play most slaughter/challenge maps on HMP and only touch UV when I've finished them.

  13. Playstation for me. The exclusives it's put out are generally more to my tastes than other systems. That's it. I'm definitely more of a PC gamer these days. I own a switch and a PS5, but I see zero reason to own an Xbox tbh. There are just zero games on it if you already own a PC. It's looking like Sony will be taking this route too. Which is honestly fine by me.

  14. Blood is my favorite fps, but I do think it's a touch overrated. I think it's more consistent than Duke or Shadow Warrior, and the highs are very high - plus I'm a horror fan so Blood's reference pool and atmosphere definitely resonate with me. That said, ever since Civvie made his video, I've noticed a tendency for people to say its perfect or objectively the best which is utter bullshit. It has its fair share of problems just like any other video game.

  15. I live in Australia so I'm not really a guns guy. Never fired a real one. Wouldn't mind trying one at a range or something. I love video game guns, but I'll just say looking at statistics I'm very glad the real ones aren't particularly prevalent over here. Not trying to deride the people who do own them or anything, I know I'd be a lot more inclined to want a firearm if people around me were carrying.

  16. @Moustachio I scrapped the level and started over. It wasn't fun, and it felt like a less good version of something I'd already done in another level. New level is shaping up nicely though. I was just wondering though, I know you say nothing but stock textures, but is it ok to use a waterfall texture? If not it's ok, I'll just use nukage for my idea rather than water, it'd just look more aesthetically pleasing if it were water.
