GZDoom. It has been said before, "it just works" and supports hardware acceleration for real smooth gameplay.

Map11 of my Three-Episode Netherworld (Still WIP) WAD. I just keep coming back to it although i know it by heart and beat it like 20 times already. Then 10 and 12 are my favorites. Map 11 just feels so good somehow.

Finished the first map, now working on MAP2 of Netherworld's Episode 3. Adjusting the balance now, then finishing the environmental stuff.

In my opinion, it's very very good. The amount of work and detail put into it are astonishing. It's definitely not for me, i'm more on the vanilla side, but it's good that it exists.

Who wants to help me with a Baron Harkonnen sprite??? :3
NaMcOJR replied to Stupid Bunny's topic in Doom Editing
Following. A big big fan of Dune. -
As vanilla as possible but with the help of GZDOOM for hardware acceleration. Everything is down to the bare minimums (2D models, no texture addons, no filtering at all, etc). 2560x1440 144hz GSYNC. I use mouse and keyboard, no jump, no mlook.

Something i'm working on, nearly finished... And the traditional "i win, you lose" screenshot from EP1, Level 3 (Yeah GOD mode but it's under testing) :P

What would you describe as a bad boss?
NaMcOJR replied to Margaret Thatcher's topic in Everything Else
Old shooters from the 90's where the boss is a small-ish square sprite which takes 1000000000000 hits, then it explodes with an explosion so small it doesn't even cover the boss sprite. "The Last Day" comes to mind... -
Should newbies complete DooM I/II before playing (and making) custom map?
NaMcOJR replied to Piranha Fang UGC's topic in Doom General
Depends on the person. If you're the type of person that simply blasts through the levels, then skipping playing it won't hurt much i guess, but if you spend time observing and are curious on how something in the game is done... do play it and grab your editor afterwards and let the discovery begin. Either way you should experience the engine for a while, the more the merrier. -
Played it on a 32X and Jaguar back in the day. Now PC only.

What's the hardest part of making a map for you?
NaMcOJR replied to BrassKnight's topic in Doom General
Balance. Making it hard, enjoyable and NOT frustrating can become frustrating in itself. Also, trying to predict where a player would go without conditioning freedom of movement yet providing enough firepower to deal with whichever beasts might spawn or get triggered by something is not an easy task. So, yeah... balance. -

I did and i already left a comment. Thank you very much for your input, i tried to add a bit of mystery so not all powerups/weapons/etc are readily available, and that might be overwhelming if you play the map without some exploration (which is absolutely fine, i just didn't think of it that way), so having someone play the maps gives me a much clearer insight. I have played them time and time again to make sure they're finishable even without saves, but i did want to make them hard and with that bit of puzzle. I didn't want to mess with the first map much as a display of what i was capable back then, but now i see how it can become cumbersome for someone who actually plays the maps from ground up. I have already fixed a number of things (also the new demons HP will be better balanced) thanks to your video which i will be viewing some more in order to try and eliminate frustration points which i think are the most important here - Nobody wants to play something and feel bad about it. Thank you, highly appreciated :) PS: The nickname is "namco" as the videogames company then "jr" as junior. PS2: Some of the music is by Jimmy - James Paddock (well, most of it), so no wonder you recognized it :) I only take credit for the map building, 99% of the assets are found on the net or some other resources from WADs. -

@Dubbagdarrel I think you missed mine :P I'd go for levels 5+ as level 4 is very big and difficult and 1, 2, 3 are my first ones ever and might be too simplistic. Anyway, you be the judge. -
The video game company. I am a big big fan of Ridge Racer, so... But someone else took the "namco" nickname, so i adapted it :P

There's something comfortable about websites of the 90's.

New members of Doom World, what brought you here?

My once again growing interest in DOOM as well as recently finished my first two episodes and wanting to share them with the community. -
Overall, lost souls. Infinitely boring.

Hey! Something new here for you to try... Requires ZDOOM with hardware acceleration enabled for the sky to render properly. I personally use it with filtering disabled for a smooth "vanilla-like" experience. Netherworld -
