    1024 demos

You guys can start on 1024 demos if you want. It should now work correctly in PrBoom 2.02. Edit by Grazza: Be sure to use the version of the wad dated 2005-12-14 21:32:34 and with file-size 11469954 bytes. This is the version now in the archive. Please record with Boom 2.02, Prboom 2.02, Prboom 2.2.6 (with -complevel 5) or Prboom-plus (with -complevel 5). Or -complevel 9 if using the current Prboom-plus or Prboom 2.4.1.

    1024x1024 Competition

It's about time it happened, a 1024x1024 competition! After the release of Congestion 1024 late last year, people often mistook it as a contest wad and it occured to me that it would have made a great contest, so, here it is! The rules are very simple: -The maps playing area must be set in a 1024x1024 block. If it exceeds this limit it will be disqualified. -There can be areas outside of the 1024x1024 block but players can't reach them. -The map must be Boom compatible. -The Map number must be map01 of Doom2. -Custom textures and music are allowed, but they must be included in the main wad file. No seperate wads please. -No new sprites, monsters etc. allowed. -Maps must be sent in by 1st September, giving 6 months to make a 1024x1024 map! This is plenty of time. -Maximum number of wads you can enter is 3. Once you have finished your level send the compressed wad to agentspork at gmail dot com. Include a txt file with the wad. It must include all the standard information. Once all the maps are sent in they will be judged by AgentSpork and the Flange Peddler. We will choose 1 winner and 2 runner ups. The winners prize is still currently undecided, but we know it will be nothing big. (Like a damn video card. :P) The maps will be judged on detail and gameplay. Once the maps have all been judged they will all be put into a wad file for people to play through, a reason as to why we need a txt file to accompany every sent map. That's all you need to know! Remember to follow the rules and have fun making the map! That's the most important part of it.

    1024x1024 Competition

Bad news: I'm sorry to say that due to lack of interest and time, I'm going to be taking a break from Doom and leaving the community for a while. School and music has taken up a lot of my time lately. I may be gone for a long time, may not be so long. Only time will tell. ;) Good news: Agent Spork has agreed to take over the project, so any maps should be sent to him at 'agentspork at gmail dot com.' The project is in his hands now, he can change rules, make new rules, etc. Thanks, and farewell for now.

Ok, just to inform everybody: I'm going to be away for the next 4 days. Cya! :D

    1024x1024 Competition

That should be fine, although you're better off making an entirely new level.

    1024x1024 Competition

Ok new rule: -Maximum number of wads you can enter is 3. If you've made more than this just select 3 to use in the contest.
  10. I usually listen to loud rock music when I try to get some sleep. :P I often have trouble sleeping, and when I take the music off I find it harder.
  11. Haha, London Calling is a brilliant song.

    Most Detailed Maps

If you can get a map too look great using as little sectors as possible, then I'd call that a good map. In my opinion maps that look good and have less detail are better looking and more well designed.

    Of course you can.

    1024x1024 Competition

I don't think the maps are getting out of hand yet. If it does I'll enforce a new rule, but I'd say it's going alright now.

    1024x1024 Competition

I'm afraid not sorry.. I have already have 2 maps sent, turns out I'm getting these quicker than expected. I could probably turn this project into Congestion 1024 II - The Competition or something less lame. It'd have 32 new maps in a balanced order and then the final three maps are the top three.

    The /newstuff Chronicles #272

I just don't use Legacy in general. I made a simple map for doom2.exe once, the map screwed up in Legacy so that really put me off the port altogether. :P I think I'll check out Phobia anyway. Hopefully Legacy won't fuck up though..

    1024x1024 Competition

Yep, but dont count on it being included in the wad with all the maps together.

    1024x1024 Competition

No, I'm sure you can fit that small section of the map in somewhere else, or just remove it.

    1024x1024 Competition

Ok I made the rules a bit more clear. It's like Congesion 1024, there can be areas outside of the 1024x1024 block but players cant reach them.

    1024x1024 Competition

Heh, in the 10 sector competition the 1st prize winner won a video card, and I'm saying we won't give away something big like that. :P
