    This configuration doesnt work :( It seems to be based on a configuration from an old Doom Builder version. If it would work, it would have very ugly names for lines and such anyway (someone has a capslock addiction?). :( Take the file out and it will work again.
  3. Just go to www.windowsupdate.com and get all service packs/updates, then download and install Doom Builder. If you havent fucked anything up, you should have all files required.

    Dont forget to change game = "Doom 2" to "Edge" or Doom Builder will reject one of the two configurations because the name must be unique. And I cannot be held responsible for any errors or odd behavior of the editor when you use your own or modified configuration files. Just so you know, dont come to me when it stops working.

    Hellrun Demo

    Yes i've started a small project, but I DO have something to show! I cannot upload this to /idgames because it has (hopefully temporary) copyrighted music, so ill hand it to you in here. Hellrun will be a small megawad (not 32, but just a few maps). It starts in the underground storage rooms (as you will see in this demo), will be continued in a like-wise tech style and will then slowly mix into a hell theme (as in Inferno). No new graphics, no new mosnters or weapons, just doom style. However, it does make good use of scripting. You can download the demo HERE. Use ZDoom with doom2.wad. I recommand you to try playing it at Hurt Me Plenty. The easy skill is a bit too easy IMO, but I like it challenging. Post your comments please. Send me an email if you think you can make soundtracks (same style as in the demo) for this little project. Make sure you have something to show as well (read: something in this style that I can listen at). My email address can be found HERE.

    Whats wrong with rectangular patterns? Unless you pay a shitload for a very odd house, you own house is rectangular. Do you hate living in a house? Well, live with it, thats our world. But when you get to hell it changes to more odd shapes?

    I dont know how many levels yet. Im just going to work on the next map, and the next, and the next and i'll see how far I can get before my inspiration runs out. No overkill scripting, I think the same amount as this demo map for other maps, probably some more as the other maps will be somewhat bigger.

    Appearently you tried to make a map but just screwed around without actually knwoing what you are doing. If you are unfamiliar with mapping for Doom, Heretic or Hexen, I recommend you to read some tutorials. Below a few tutorial listed. The WADster's Guide --Steve Benner Unofficial Wad Designers Handbook --Ron Allen DoOm Builder Editing Guide --Doom_Dude Not the most nicest looking sites, but if you can see through that, this can learn you at least all the mapping basics.

    Powerfull?! lol, dual xeon is powerfull, this is nothing. But you were not there in the evenings, it was definitely being used and well filled in the weekends. Why is there always someone trying to turn something down? Im not saying I like all people that were in that place, but that is no reason to bash it (or whatever you call such talk).

When the editor meets a lump which is not defined in this list (or defined as 0) it will stop loading right there. The order of items defines the order in which lumps will be written to WAD file on save. The value (flags) of items determines what the editor should do with it. You should never mess with value 4, because it may result in incorrect map builds. 1 = Map lump required 2 = Map lump which must be respected 4 = Lump generated by node builder 8 = Lump allowed to be empty after nodebuilding 4096 = Map lump which can be edited as Text 8192 = Map lump which can be edited as ACS 12288 = Map lump which can be edited as DEHACKED 16384 = Map lump which can be edited as FraggleScript */You are setting DECORATE and MAPINFO to 8192 which indicates they are the ACS script of the map. Since Doom Builder has a hardcoded system which saves a copy of ACS to the SCRIPTS lump, you think it modifies your BEHAVIOR lump, but it doesnt unless you click "Compile". These are not ACS scripts. You should define these lumps as 4098. That is 4096, because its plain text and not a script. And 2 because the editor must respect the lump (keep it with the map wherever you save the map). But AFAIK these lumps you try to define here as map lumps are not part of the map, they apply to the entire game and only 1 of them may exist in a WAD file, anywhere in the WAD file. If you can get it to work at all, I do not recommand you to use Doom Builder to edit it, because Doom Builders will handle these as part of the map if you define them as such.

    Nodebuilder crash fixed. About the zoom issue; I understand what you said, but I dont understand when I look at the code. Highlighting and scrolling have nothing to do with each other, no not in code either no.

    AAAAAH! Fuck this Gokuma! Every time you gave me a new strife configuration I had to reformat the whole thing because you're using a text editor that doesnt even know what a TAB character is! In other words: They work, but the file contents looks like one big mess. Please use a decent editor like EditPlus and you'll see what I mean. This is the previous configuration which I formatted correctly: strife.zip Im not going to format this again, its a pain in the ass.

    I already wrote the code, so gimme a wad file to test it mofo :P The alpha channel will not be used. DB converts everything to 256 paletted bitmaps with the PLAYPAL lump as it loads it. But It was a piece of cake to write the support for the format, as well as 16 and 24 bits, so id like to test it. Note that a texture is NOT the image and should NOT be replaced with a PNG. You must make a PATCH of the PNG and a texture exists of 1 or more patches. (if some engine works different, fine, but doom works this way, welcome to doom editing ;)

    Then 100% is not all? heh you understand what i meant, nitpicker :P hehe Anyway, this is offtopic and i cant really care less ;) chubberz: Look at some classic maps like Alien Vendetta or something more modern like RTC-25613, it may help you ideas for some good mapping.

    Hey, thats that site that makes CDs with stuff that can be downloaded from the internet for free. They had such a CD as first price for some mapping contest hehehe. Now they rate some maps 10 out of 10, meaning better does not exist, but IMO theres maps far better (and even older ones), but thats just my opinion.

    Tolwyn: Do you have a PWAD with a mix of 16, 24 and 32 bit PNG textures in it and a map that makes use of them? Id like to test my code to see if it works and if its fast enough.
