    [RC5] EVITERNITY II - RC5 Released!

haha nice! I've tested some later Sunder maps and it appears I'm getting the same issue. I'm in OpenGL already, but I guess it's an engine limitation. Also, I'm on a new OLED monitor and apparently they flicker with gsync in dark areas when FPS bounces around. It's not really an issue since it only affects a tiny number of maps out there and it's not that noticable.

    [RC5] EVITERNITY II - RC5 Released!

Is anyone else getting consistent frame time blips on map 32? It's not causing visible stutters, but it does produce a very slight flickering effect in dark areas when gsync in on. I've tested this in other large, 2000+ monster maps (like in Abandon and Sunder) and I'm not seeing the same behaviour. Is there anything going on with map 32 that's putting extra strain on the engine? Playing on DSDA. Cheers!

    Vulkan, g-sync and GZDOOM

Hi all, I've got a strange issue with GZDOOM and Vulkan. When I try to use g-sync with the Vulkan api version of GZDOOM I also have to enable v-sync in game or g-sync won't activate. This is regardless of v-sync being set globally in the Nvidia control Panel. If I use the OpenGL api, I can disable v-sync in game and g-sync will work. Any idea why this might be? This is an issue because the in-game v-sync creates flicker on my monitor.

    [RC5] EVITERNITY II - RC5 Released!

Honestly, this is the best wad I've ever played and this is an incredibly minor complaint. Thanks for all of your work folks, excellent stuff! I wouldn't suggest removing them all together as I like the idea of the flickering candle lights - maybe just slow them down a bit or something like that?

    [RC5] EVITERNITY II - RC5 Released!

Sorry, I should have said this was through DSDA DOOM. I've checked a couple of playthroughs on youtube and I'm seeing the same flashing lights. Check out Vytaan's playthrough here:

    [RC5] EVITERNITY II - RC5 Released!

Not sure if this is an acceptable suggestion, but in Map 06 I'm finding the flashing lights quite overwhelming. I wonder if it would be possible to tune them down a little?

    Vulkan, g-sync and GZDOOM

Yep, putting either GZDOOM or DSDA into "prefer maximum performance" is the best way of ensuring a steady FPS - apparently my GPU was going into low power mode and that was causing the stutters.

    Vulkan, g-sync and GZDOOM

Vulkan seems to have improved since enabling "best performance" in power mode and forcing "perfer maximum performance" in NVCP. Not sure why, but it's pretty much on par with OpenGL in terms of stability; definitely get better perf with Vulkan though.

    What the fuck! Amazing!

    Vulkan, g-sync and GZDOOM

That did fix it. To be honest, GZDOOM's Vulkan runs like ass on my system (4090, i7 14700KF) - OpenGL seems to work fine so I think I'll take stability over extra performance.
  13. Thanks for the info, dude. I've been holding off playing this wad until it's complete (as in every map is available) and I'm absolutely loving it so far. Just finished the first five maps. Thanks for all of your work!
  14. Also noticed that you get different sounds in GZDOOM - particularly the weapon pick up voices on first pick up. Is this also available in DSDA DOOM? Final question, in GZDOOM you get a load of different difficulty settings. Are these also available in DSDA? Cheers!
  15. Quick question. With the Ancient Aliens item pick up noise, sometimes I get a popping sound when picking up multiple items in a row. Any way to fix this? Thanks!

I'm not having a great time with map 05 in terms of UVMAXing it. The fight in the pit with the revs, cybers and arachnos is pretty inconsistent. I've tried shooting the cyber to encourage infighting with the revs, hiding around the corner to bunch the revs up and running around like a madman and I can't seem to get it down. Any suggestions?

This set is incredible. I really love the aesthetic. Just on Map 05 now and trying to go for UVMAX. Looks doable for sure. Thanks for your work :D

    Insanity Edged

Thanks, man. I appreciate your work. And also I completely understand the limits of GZDOOM when it comes to running these complex mapsets. I've only played the first level, but the area that tanked fps for me was actually one of the first areas - when you press the first switch and head through the door to the outside area, the fps went from 141 (-3 under my monitor's refresh rate) to around 115 when moving around that area. To be honest, it's not a problem as G-Sync tends to take care of a lot of fps fluctuations these days.

    Insanity Edged

Is it just me or is the wad the most demanding GZDOOM wad? Having a lot of fun with it, but even on my i7 13700 and 4090 it’s dipping into the low hundreds on my fps counter. Any suggestions for boosting performance?
  23. Hi all, I'm experiencing a very strange issue that I did not have on my old PC. I've just updated to a 4090 and an i7 13700KF on windows 11. On my current rig, I get very inconsistent frame times in DSDA, Eternity Engine and GZDOOM. My current settings are as follows: - v-sync on in NVCP - cap frame rate -3 below refresh rate: 141 - G-sync on - full screen mode What happens is the frame rate will constantly jump between 130 and 141 fps. Without G-sync active, this is completely unplayable as it produces very stuttery movement. Now here's the weird thing - If I disable all of the above settings and run the game completely uncapped, my FPS will go into the 1,000s and feel incredibly smooth. I read this thread (below) and wondered if I'm experiencing something related. I have all of the latest (dev) builds of the above ports but nothing I have tried so far seems to fix the issue. On my old PC (3070, i7 9700KF) all of the games ran flawlessly with a completely flat frame time graph and a consistent 141 FPS. Please, for the love of all that is DOOM, someone help me!

Stuttering in all DOOM source ports tested

One more thing to add: it was icue that was the culprit. Bloody Corsair!!
