  1. Woot, my laptop went belly-up.

Apparently i got a virus last night and now windows does not load at all. It boots to the safemode/normal mode/command prompt menu and every option just restarts the comp. It has to do with five files on the comp, which are listed with a bunch of other crap, but then it reboots. I can't even get to the bios config either.

Also, I dont have the windows installation cds either because the os came with the laptop preinstalled. fucking yay. o_O

Note: the laptop does NOT have a floppy drive, and i dont have an external drive either, so boot floppies wont work.

No virus I know of can pull that off. The computer might be busted.

This website explains some things about running RegEdit from a command prompt. And I'm not promoting warez, but I guess it'd be sort of a grey area to borrow an OEM version from somebody (seeing as how you paid for the CD key you'll use).

OEM versions i belive are ok, because it is the key you pay for. without a valid key windows XP will not work after 30 days.

though of course i am sure there are ways to fool or disable that activation stuff.

Yayhooray. There was no virus. It was a corrupted os. Now I know personally to hate xp home.

I got all of the stuff i wanted from this harddrive (which fit on 3 dvds) and am going to wipe it clean, and put xp pro on. Yay. I love this new year already. ^_^
