Hi everyone. Since on various threads there seems to be some interest in wads from the '90s, I would like to share with you my collection of levels gathered from different CDs that I collected through all these years (Archive.org, Cd.textfiles.com, Retroarchive.org, Abandonware Magazines.org). I did my best to maintain the original folders unmodified, even though occasionally I had to make some changes: I uploaded only the doom levels and, when available, also Heretic and Hexen, avoiding the ones related to other games (Duke3d, Quake). In addition, to avoid any problems, I didn't post x-rated levels (when they were immediately recognizable). I also removed a corrupt wad (main.wad) from the Games Machine folder. Anyway it is available in the PC Gamer Uk folder. It is a work in progress. I apologize for any inconvenience. I hope you can find something interesting in this collection. Links: - Coverdisks and PC Gamer (USA, UK, ITA and some extra wads) are available in the @Arrowhead POST Original link no longer available due to technical issues -Shareware CDs & Extra Enjoy! Cheers!

Thank you @Walter confetti! Camp Hell ( Camphell.wad, Camphell.zip) and Eye Of The Storm ( EOSTORM.WAD, EYESTORM.ZIP,) are available on the PC Gamer 06/1996 issue and on The Games Machine CD #17. GHETTO.WAD and STUPID.WAD are also available on Supergames volume 2 CD It is possible that GHETTO.WAD is a ready-to-use version of dm_gheto.zip, a sound patch released in 1994 for doom1.2. This version consists of 57 .voc files and it requires dmaud.exe. I tried both versions and they look the same or very similar. According to the ghetto.doc file, the author of Dm_gheto.zip is "Serpent" STUPID.WAD also appears to be a ready-to-use version of dmstupid.zip, a sound patch released in 1994. Dm_gheto.zip and dmstupid.zip are available on Supergames Vol 2 ( in the ZIPPED folder) and on many other CDs. Doom 2 Scenarii seems to be available for purchase on ebay.it

Something like this? All EPISODEx wads in one package, a specific installer (CD is required for installation / data extraction) and a wad launcher -
I didn't notice! I checked and unfortunately even the files on the .iso image are corrupted. I found, on Archive.org, another copy of the same cd but it has the same issue. I am sorry. About the wad collections, take a look at PRIVAT.WAD ( in Joystick HS7, Doom folder, PRIVATEF folder). According to the text file the levels are new from scratch but E1M1 is MAZE1.WAD

The original first release of Alien Vendetta with the self-extracting installer. It is mentioned in this 2001 post by @Linguica. Unfortunately that version was almost immediately replaced with the the well known av-extracted.zip release. It seems impossible to find anywhere.

The timestamp, 02/1995, matches the one mentioned in the betray.txt file included with xboxspec.zip. The map is aesthetically slightly different, there are more enemies and the doors are ummarked. I could not find any details on this level online, however the cd in which I found the map was published in 1995 (according to archive.org). I'm not an expert on these things, but I think there's a lot of chances it's the original version.

I found betray.wad in my Shareware Cds Collection Betray.wad Timestamp: 02/28/1995 MD5: b449ad1d43932287c19907790ef49a7d SHA1: db1c38df765aab9dec4cf49508b93e7a2c158804 CRC-32: 60a8e06c Source: 500 MB Nyheder Direkte Fra Internet, CD2 BETRAY.ZIP

I am very happy you found something interesting! :) Some suggestions: COMETWAD.ZIP A collection of three wads by Robert Olsen, Current Shareware 5 NO_REST.ZIP by Rob La Rosa on Monster Media 2 (It seems to have some compatibility issues with GZDOOM. It works fine on DosBox and , I think, on Chocolate Doom) ENGAGE.ZIP Software Vault Diamond DAMN2.WAD , Software Vault, Games 2 BLACKDETH.ZIP, 500 MB Nyheder Direkte Fra Internet, CD 7, Doom 2 folder WM1.ZIP, 500 MB Nyheder Direkte Fra Internet, CD2, Doom folder AQUAREA.ZIP, Hot Shareware 1 GOLPER.ARJ, GOLPER03.ARJ, GOLPER04.ARJ, The games Machine #14

A copy of the original .zip file has been uploaded on Archive.org by @ETTiNGRiNDER Wads of Wads

I don't have it. It seems to be a rare cd and I never found a complete disk image anywhere, but only a partial copy on Archive.org , with Doom 1 wads .I found a couple of images on this page. Another rare cd is " The Snakepit Of Doom" by Multimedia 2000.

You probably need to have an Archive.org account. It is free.

Shareware CDs files now available. Finally it seems that now google drive is working correctly. The main problem was that with the Coverdisks and Pc Gamer folders, it didn't show the files in the folders or it didn't show the folders completely. Fortunately with the shareware folder everything looks ok. Link: Shareware CDs & Extra Link also available in the original post. Cheers!

@Doomlover77@Doomkid Thank you very much! I,probably, fixed the problem with google drive. In the afternoon I will share the link of the shareware CDs and some extra. Thanks again! Cheers!

interesting point of view...

The links are no longer available .. I deleted all the files on google drive for some technical problems... I'm sorry!

Thank you for your tip on Github but, honestly, it just took me so much time to upload all files on google drive that I really don't feel like creating another account just to do it all again. So, since I am still having problems with google drive and it already exists a thread about cover and shareware discs, I think the moderator(s) can close this thread because there will not be any other updates. Many thanks to all of you who followed this topic. Cheers!

I am having some problems with google drive and I need to fix them. Something is not working properly and probably loading almost 11gb of files all at once is not a good idea. Cheers!

Midiguy in the text file of FIRE.WAD states the following (bold is mine): "My wads have been featured in PC gamer NOV. issue (incubus.wad)" and at the bottom of the text "My wads have been in pc gamer (nov.95 issue incubus.wad)" I took a look at that issue of pc gamer and the author of Incubus.wad is Dale Bertheola. It is dated 08/10/1995 and the wad has 9 levels. Curiously, map01 is dday.wad. Since I don't have the Midiguy version I couldn't make a comparison between the two wads. Below the screenshots of the incubus.wad by Dale Bertheola Map01(dday.wad) Map02 Map03 Map04 Map05 Map06 Map07 Map08 Map09 Is it possible that they are the same wad? Thanks! -
Ancient magazine coverdisks - Historic interest thread

Thank you for the link! I had missed this cd and I added it to my coverdisks collection. Curiously I was able to unpack the wads only on dosbox with windows 3.1 installed. Good old days! :) -
